****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

I don't expect to need too much spending money.

- $200-$300 for tips.
- $20-$50 for souvies
- $40 for gifts for my niece and nephew

So about $400 spending money.

Then my mom is giving $40 to my DD for her Mermaid Makeover. My kids will likely bring $50 each have received for gifts to buy souvies....which is more than I've ever allowed them to spend on souvies before!

We don't tend to spend much over and above our basic vacation costs.

Was quite the day today :headache: We were planning on about $150-200 per day @ Disney but now not too sure how much we can budget for. Our camera broke (battery compartment snapped) so needing a new one and today the family van broke down and needing $500 + repair (of course). Why oh why now! :confused3
Better start scouring the house for items to sell!

Aw, Emteach.....that stinks  . These kinds of unexpected expenses tend to crop up at the rottenest times.

I posted this before, but in case anyone missed it... Mousesavers has a wonderful "Ultimate Packing List". It's way more stuff than I would ever bring.. however it covers everything so it often reminds me of things I wouldn't have thought of.

You can find the download here..
http://www.mousesavers.com/timeismoney.html#packing

Ooohhhhhh..........I love lists :cool1: .

I happen to have a touch of OCD (okay, maybe more than a touch ;) ) so they tend to help satisfy my innate need to organize :) .

One week from tomorrow we are off!
I have to clean a bit tomorrow and then drag suit cases out and start packing what I have layed out.
I am expecting my video camera for the Disney research to come tomorrow. I still want to call them and ask a few more questions.
I need to finish printing and get them into carry on, charge camera batteries, clear cards. So many things, my mind is spinning

As to how much to tip mousekeeping is up to each individual. Our family of 4 normally leaves $5 a day.

For those who have not received their ME tags or vouchers, you really don't have to have them to use ME.

Last year, I did not receive ME tags or vouchers, but I verified I was in the system. I just had to check in at the ME desk, give them my luggage tags and my luggage was delivered with no problems.

Same here. I also know I will need gas money for the drive. My parents are also giving the boys spending money and they have honestly saved a ton of allowance/birthday/Christmas money. I think my middle son has more money than I do!

Uggghhhh...Sorry to hear this! My husband just told me that I needed new tires for my van before we drive down so I can relate...

Anyone think that Disney will ever carry my beloved Dr. Pepper? Holy Moly, I could go for one of those when I am in Florida... No coffee, just my DP...That's what I jones for....:lmao:
Sneakers and DP, I am in heaven :rotfl2:

Well, MickyD's has it now, and they normally carry Coke products, so there's a ray of hope.
And I'll join you in your corner, if I may - I haven't worn flips since summer camp (mumble-mumble years ago). Trainers, ballet-style slippers or heels. And I can forgo the afternoon coffee if I have the good Dr by my side :rotfl:

Our debit card has a limit and the bank will freeze it for unusual activity. .....

At least they noticed the 'unusual activity.' DH has his CC number stolen once, and all the bank did was raise his limit. Over $15000 in spending sprees, half the country away
He ended up not having to pay for any of it (not even the $50 the agreement paperwork said), after arguing for a month, but when he cancelled the card they gave him a hard time over that, too.

..... Depending on how the flight is to MCO is what will decide if I want use United again....we shall see.

We liked United - until the morning after the ice storm.
My parents drove us to the airport, nearly going off the road twice. Our flight was scheduled for 6:45, we arrived at 6 (this was back in the days before 2-3 hour clearance times). Checked in, and got this response. "Good morning. Your flight's been cancelled. Have a nice day." That was it. No explanation, no "I'm sorry", no offer to assist in finding a new flight. I didn't dare tell my dad. We figured we'd try to get a d2d limo home. We waved them goodbye, and sat down to find out how to get home, and then how to get to WDW.
Around 7:20, Miss Perky announced to the 10 or so of us that were still there, trying to make other plans, that we'd be shuttled down to Boston, since our flight had 'mechanical problems' Ummm, yeah - both flights ? The commuter early-birds to Washington and Chicago had both been cancelled, and to this day DH swears it was because the flights were less than quarter full.
So, we rode to Boston, on roads covered in glare ice, with a handful of business travellers, and a family with the nastiest colds I've ever seen, going to Chicago for grandma's funeral. Eventually, we ended up taking the same flight we would have transferred to in Washington out of Boston. And we were sick for most of the next week.
Haven't flown United since.

Yep. We call those 'curve balls'. :grouphug: Gotta love them

There's a reason, you know :lmao: It's Finagle's Law of Dynamic Negatives (also known as Finagle's corollary to Murphy's Law) : Anything that can go wrong, will—at the worst possible moment .

Fingers crossed that you don't have anymore this trip.

We dont have an offical per day budget. I have an amount I think it will be but we have plans for it to be more.
I dont have dining plan. For us dinner and drinks will be $75-100 per night and I am figuring $25-30 for lunch at CS. Breakfast and snacks will vary depending on where we are(room for kids to eat breakfast, by pool with snacks we bring or in parks.) I have saved $1000 in cash to take and rest is from bank accnt as needed.

For you Dr. Pepper fans, depending on where you live, Dr. Pepper can be bottled by a Coke bottler, a Pepsi bottler or an independent bottler.

That is why in some places you will see Dr. Pepper at Coke contracted places and at Pepsi contracted places.

Speaking of travel budgets, who else is budgeting in a $200 deposit for next year's trip? :rotfl:

Already paid out our $200 deposit for our 2 night stay after our cruise October 2013. Also, paid our deposit on the cruise. I didn't want to cruise but my family out voted me.

I am, LMAO! I'm hoping for a little bounce back offer for spring waiting in our room upon return from the park during our stay. I'm holding back $200 just for that, just in case.

24 days until we leave and we got our Mickey Mail today!!!! YAY!

This comes with questions though...if we play Mini Golf the voucher coverss one person per room right? so we have 2 packages with 3 people each....does everyone need to play? My mom wouldn't really want to play but would like atch the kids....

100 play points for the arcade...about how many games is that?

If we choose to go to Planet Hollywood, can we use both $15 vouchers for one table? since we are in 2 rooms? Also, what are the souviner vouchers for there?

And my :headache: moment...i had to youtube how to use the luggage tags!!!! I may be slightly stunned...lol

And I packed a bag today!!! no I haven't completely lost it, my DS6 leaves tomorrow for campng for a week ith Nannie and Papa....part of me is :yay:, but part of me is :sad1: because I will miss him....

-I wouldn't think that everyone would need to play. Maybe someone else has experience with this.

-100 points is maybe 2 games - not much

-We once had two vouchers for Planet Hollywood and I *think* we used both. We may have had to split the bill to do so but not sure. The souvinier at that time (6 years ago!) was a keychain.

Isn't that always the way it works? Here's hoping you can find a way to make the money back!

In two weeks time.... we should be.... landing at MCO!! :yay:

9 days left at work.... can I get the suitcases out yet?! :rolleyes1

Emma princess: x

Wooot!!!!!

Mickey Mail today :woohoo:

Still no DME tags, though they said those were mailed on the 18th. I'm giving it till Monday before I call

OT, but my mom is driving me nuts today. Just had to put that out there somewhere. She lives off of public assistance and yesterday she asked me for $20 to get her through the end of the month. Today she came over and was telling me all about how she & some friends went to see Batman yesterday, then rented canoes today and going out for pizza tomorrow... Um, I didn't take my kids to the movies last weekend because I'm trying to save for a vacation and a movie would have made us pretty tight before payday (tomorrow). But I have money to give her to support her social life? :crazy2: And then I was showing my DH the new laptop I got for work and my mom asked if she could have my old one. I told her I was planning to keep it for the kids to use and she told me that she needs it more than them. Well, excuse me, but if you need a computer, go get a job and buy one! :furious: Sorry for ranting. Just had to get that off my chest. Kind of put a damper on the good mood I was in when I opened the Mickey Mail

ETA that the reason my mom "needs" a computer is because she is addicted to FB games like Farmville. She spends hours a day at the library playing them. If she was going to use the computer for something useful like looking for a job, it'd be a different story

Sounds like my mother. Not cool. The only thing that stopped her is she moved 9 hrs away from when she got married (without telling anyone). Her hubby has since died (which is sad because he was a great guy) but she's still 9 hrs away which is fine with me because it makes saying no that much easier. I know its frustrating. I hope it gets better for you.

Ugh! That sucks. My DH's truck just needed major work a few months ago too. We had to charge it to a card I had paid off. Majorly sucked but hopefully we'll get it paid off soon.

Yay! 1 week! What is this about Disney research? I must have missed you saying anything about it??

Meanwhile I got my online Walmart order today. My moisture wicking pants may work nicely. They seemed really lightweight, not tight and fit well and looked good with my tees. No pockets but we will have plenty storage room on DH's ECV. I just plan on taking my camera bag (in which i will put phone, card, etc) then soft cooler. I also got 2 sports bras that were nice thin moisture wicking material but they were too big. I got the biggest size because sports bras usually squish the girls to much but this bra was no more supportive than just wearing a tee shirt and no bra. So they are going back. I am unsure if I will order the same one in a smaller size or not. I have a regular cotton sports bra that fits fine. So I guess I don't need one I was just in a moisture wicking mood. :rotfl2:

I can so sympathize with this. My mom is an active alcoholic with some mental illness. Sometimes I have very bad days dealing with the stress she causes in my life. We have kept our trip a secret from her because she will start saying if we have money to go away we should be doing more for her. It's really hard not to be able to share my excitement with her but its easier this way. So I definitely feel your pain! Sending hugs your way!

Yay for Mickey Mail! That's always helps :thumbsup2
