Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

We'll be there Aug 21st -27th at POP, but dates and/or resort might change if FD comes out.

I Wish August would hurry up, I can't wait :cool1:  :cheer2:

I called Disney last night to check to see if there were any kind of specials for August, all the Cm could tell me was to keep checking back with them because it was "very" possible they were going to have discounts for August. To me it sounded like they were going to come out pretty soon!!

I got a 20% off code for 8-10 and onward so that helps with half of my trip. Would love it if they offered more:goodvibes :goodvibes but am happy to be going no matter what!!!

I just wanted to say that I called, again for my Aug 7-13 dates to add on the hoppers. I asked, AGAIN, if there were any special discounts with my dates. The CM said to please check back soon on a Monday or Tuesday. I said, "Oh the discounts come out on Monday's or Tuesday's"?
She said- yes please check back soon. I also asked if I should be checking the Disney home page and she said- no, just call us!

This is hope for those waiting for something to come out in August, because as you can see, I have early August dates opposed to those waiting on FD in the later part of the month.:cool1:

We are going August 3-10, so I would love a discount for earlier. I already have a AAA discount of 20%, but it would be great to get 30 or 40%!

I am going 8/24-8/31 and have pretty much resigned myself to no free dining, but am wondering if any of the Aug code experts have any predictions on what kind of discounts, if any we may see. I would really like to upgrade to a moderate but cannot justify paying rack rate...I am currently booked at Pop which I love, but would lreally like to try CSR. I am pretty frustrated with Disney right now, I have gone the past 4 years and am always paying rack rate and then I read about all the people getting 20, 30 and 40% of codes, and start feeling sorry for poor ole me....

If you have AAA you can get a 20% discount at the values and 15 % at the mods if available. We have never received a code either, but have not had to pay rack rate either. You could get the price of the membership back on your first stay.

What kind of membership do you buy with AAA? Do you know what it cost and would I have to cancel my current reservation or could I just modify?

AAA membership is around $60. It is for road side assistance, towing etc--good plan to have even without the discounts. It is nice because it follows you instead of your car, so if you are with someone else whose car breaks down, you are covered.

I am not sure if you would need to rebook or just modify.

I wouldn't count out Free Dining for your dates just yet. This has been posted by myself (and others) on many of the Free Dining threads, but I'll say it again...

The 2008 Free Dining via Bounceback was offered to those onsite in September '07 for those willing to stay in September '08 (plus two days in August). The offer was extended to those onsite in early October, but stay dates remained the same. It seemed to be a September-September offer. Sure, Public Free Dining may share the same dates as this - but Bounceback and Public Free Dining don't necessarily share the same stay dates. Public could be longer - or shorter. We don't know - but don't give up hope.

The 2008 UK Free Dining was fairly long in terms of stay dates again this year (starting the 2nd week of August until near the end of September) - but limited to Mods and up. Again, Public Free Dining for North Americans should not be expected to necessarily share stay dates OR resort limitations that the UK offer has. The 2008 Public Free Dining probably won't be as long as the UK stay dates, but never say never. In terms of resort limitations - again, no way to say for sure, but due to added costs for UK visitors to come to Florida, the difference in cost by requiring Mods only adds (value standard room to mod standard room) 13% to the cost of the holiday on a week long stay. For a North American DRIVING to WDW (no airfare in the package), it would increase the vacation cost by 25% - a big difference. So, we shouldn't assume a value resort exclusion just because it happened for the UK offer.

We have three options - best case, worst case and something in the middle.

1. Worst case: 2008 Public Free Dining will be as short (or shorter) as 2008 Bounceback with resort limitations the same (or worse - i.e. Deluxe only) as the UK. This sounds pretty bad, even by Disney's profit focused standards. I just can't picture this happening.

2. Best case: 2008 Public Free Dining will be longer than 2008 Bounceback, perhaps as long as the UK offer, with no resort level limitations (although rooms available will be limited - as usual). This would be very nice, but even I'll admit that an offer this good would be extremely surprising. I can hope, but I'm not expecting this.

3. The Middle: 2008 Public Free Dining will be a little longer than the 2008 Bounceback, but shorter than the UK offer - most likely this means starting the weekend of Aug. 23-24, with a slight possibility of Aug. 16-17. Rooms, as usual, will be limited, but no resort level will be completely excluded.

If you keep your hopes up for the middle option, you still have a reasonable basis to think that Free Dining could work for your upcoming trip. Keep hoping, but - rightly so - have other options as backup plans.

Good luck!

I would assume that we would be hearing some kind of announcement in the next day or so! Which would be a week prior to the April 7th date that some say it is anticipated to be opened to Disney Visa Holders at that time! So I guess we shall see! Esdras I hope you are correct on that middle theory that would work well for me! Question is am I that lucky? Also maybe Disney held back the promo because it is going to be good! :goodvibes Let's hope!:cool1:

Theory 2 or 3 works out for me. Here's to all of us hoping for a little pixie dust.:tinker:

Well .......as always I love this place and I hope you guys keep filling me in with all the good August news. Still have my fingers crossed for any sort of discount August 16th-22nd at the Contemporary Resort. Free dining would be sweet, however, I wonder how that works with the deluxe dining plan which is part of my package. Would it still be deluxe if it went to free dining and what about all the reservations Ive already made to all the character meals/restaraunts? Any answers would be helpful, thanks!

PS. Anyone else doing the photo pass thing or have you ever done it before? Is it easy/ worth it?
looking forward to your answers as always!

If you have the deluxe dining and you call and have free dining added or cancel and rebook for free dining whichever you would pay the difference betwenn the deluxe and reg which means theorectically you would get the deluxe for the price of the reg ddp. Youre reservations would not be affected by this they would stay the same unless for some reason your dates changed and you needed to reschedule other than that you are fine with what you have it will not affect them! I have no clue about the photo pass thing i've never done that! Hope this helps!:)
