Official August 2007 thread

Does anyone know what time this runs??? We are signed up for the fireworks cruise on the 11th and that is the only one of the posted dates we will be at WDW!!!!

Typically these parties run from 7 PM until Midnight. They usually will let guests in with just the Party Ticket at 4 PM. I called Disney Dining and was able to confirm that the first party is on Aug 11 and I was able to make ADR for LTT for 4:30 PM. That will be a great time for my family of 5 to eat and be finished before the party starts. She doesn't think that the character's have been in costume at LTT for this event, but she said that could change since it is becoming a regular thing. :cool1: :cool1: Now if I could just buy tickets we would be all set. I guess I can start working on costumes though ;)

1st post!
Our family of four just booked our first WDW vacation! August 16-23 at the POP.
My twin boys are 10-years-old. Do you think they would be too old for the Pirates Party? They love the movies, but have out grown character meet and greets. Is there enough for them to do and enjoy?
I will be glued to this board becuase it rules.

First off :welcome: Meladdin!
I personally have not been to the party but I would say definately yes! My 2 (11 and 13) went on thier first WDW vacation this year and absolutely loved it! You actually may be suprised how much they enjoy the characters as well once you get there... I know I was shocked. Enjoy your vacation! :goodvibes

I made changes to my reservation aleady! I just couldn't stand it so instead of WL we will be staying at the Poly! I'm so excited :) Also, we'll be attending the Pirate Princess Party on the 21st :)

We're hoping to get there around September 15th for my son's second birthday, but I think I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and see all the tips for August ;) WIll have to live vicariously through all of you until we get there!

Thanks for the advice. We grew up in SoCal so the kids have been to Disneyland plenty (they've filled out an autograph book or two). So that's how we know they feel too old to meet a bunch of characters (more of a been there-done that mentality). I'll keep looking at the Pirates Party and maybe talk my kids into being little kids again!
They grow up fast!

It certainly wasn't the teachers' idea. Those silly lawmakers created a law that states that FL schools can start no sooner than 14 days before Labor Day. It was part of some parent's movement called "save our summers." So that means the kids get an extra-long summer this year since we'll still end in May but the teachers/staff won't get any pay until September.

They did that a couple of years ago in NC. Now they are thinking about changing it to letting schools start Aug. 5 again, which means our summer will only be enough when it goes in effect.

Add us to the August list. We will be a BWV August 5 - 10th. This will be our 1st DVC stay!

Just booked August 5-10 at OKW. Will be Me, DD(7), SIL and Niece (4). Girls only trip!!!! I can't wait....137 days to go! It will be my niece's 1st WDW trip! I'm so excited for her! We will probably only do the parks lightly due to the heat. Plan on just enjoying the resort and the pools and relaxing!

I think I posted this before but we are at the Pop August 5-11!!

I have my lime green!!!

Add my family to the list please:cool1: Aug. 26-31. at POR
finally talked DH into going back. Had to do it before school starts again. It starts after labor day in michigan now. Im hoping for a little cooler August. Went in January last time, don't know if I can handle August heat.

That is an oxymoron. those phrases do not compute. :teeth:

Though there is talk of this being an active hurricane season this year, so we may have a lot of rain and be a little cooler than normal. Maybe 90 instead of 92.

It is looking like I may have to cancel this trip :( DH would rather go to DL than WDW. Same thing, I guess. And we've never been to the other park out there, DD hasn't been to DL, just WDW.

We're going the 18-25, and renting a house in Windsor Palms. I'm starting to get a little nervous about the crowds, because as a few others have said, some school systems are starting later (including ours). My son goes back 8/27, so we decided to wait until the very end of Aug, hoping to avoid crowds, but now it looks like that might not be the case.
Have you stayed in Windsor Palms before? This is where my parents' condo is, so I know THEY like it, but I'd be curious to have an outsider's opinion.

I'm nervous about the crouds too. We're going from August 7th through the 17th, and everyone keeps saying that August isn't nearly as bad as July (which is what I'm used to). I just can't bring myself to believe it! It's still summer after all!

At least we don't have to worry about the dining plan... and since my folks arn't charging us to stay there, even paying for food we'll end up ahead. :D

We wanted to go later in August, but we're making this a family trip/honeymoon, and we got our second choice of date for the wedding (August 4th instead of the 11th). Rather than wait a week (I mean, how anti-climatic is that??) we're just going with what we got :)

I have had to change my plans. DH wants to go to DL rather than WDW so we are heading for California rather than Florida in August.
