OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

Sorry it's not likely to be cooler! We've gone the past several APrils and it's always been in the 80s or 90s when we are there.

Ok, I know it's going to be HOT; and especially since we are going to there the last 2 weeks of April. But I keep telling myself that it while it will be hot, it won't be humid...or as humid...right? Right?? Please someone tell me I'm right!! LOL

I'm just hoping for little to no rain. Last year when my sister and I were there at the end of March/beginning of April we had two days of nonstop rain. It got pretty depressing after a while.

We were there in October and our first full day there it rained NONSTOP. 7" of rain in one day. After that completely humid. It was quite a shock for a couple from southern California!!

I can't believe everyone's trips are SO close. I am getting excited...as if I needed help. I think I'm at 23 days, so I can just feel the urge to start pulling out the suitcases.

I finally looked closer at the hours changes and EasyWDW recommendations yesterday and I'm really thinking I need to change my park days around. The only thing I was concerned about was our Le Cellier ADR, but I think I can make it work; just go to Epcot for dinner on our off day instead of on our Epcot day. I'll need to take a closer look at that today...

Safe travels everyone who is on their way very soon!

I must have read this article from WDWMagic.com 5 times to make sure I was reading it right. They are reporting that beginning on April 15th, Flynn will be back meeting and greeting guests with Rapunzel at their new location in the Adventureland Veranda (currently occupied by Ariel and Eric)!! This works out perfectly for our trip as our first day in MK will be the 17th. Of course, this throws a monkeywrench in our touring plans since the Rapunzel meet and greet was the first item on our plans and the rest of our morning items are in Fantasyland, but it should still work out well. And DD will be very happy to hear he will be there. Apparently the reason for the shuffle is to make way for a new character greet for the new Pixar flick "Brave" that will take place in Fairytale Garden beginning in May. Here's the article:

The past few times we've gone in April, it's been low to mid 80s but not really uncomfortably humid. Well with me being from the northeast- I love it being hot b/c it won't be warm like that until July for me. I love having summer temps early in spring! I  going to Disney for spring break!!!!!:banana::banana:

15 days until we hit the road (not counting today), which makes it 17 days until we check into POR. So excited!!!!

We're leaving mid-day on the 13th (my sister has to work until noon), stopping that night in downstate IL, marathoning the next day to south of Atlanta, then arriving the late afternoon to POR on the 15th. Since our tickets for the park aren't good until Monday (we bought a 4 day hopper), we'll hit DTD after checking into the hotel for dinner and shopping.

I've been many times, but it's my older sister's first trip there. She's getting all sorts of giddy as the trip approaches. She will be SO disappointed if POTC is closed when we're there; hopefully once during the four days we're there, she'll get a chance to see it.

We're concentrating on MK and EP for now, with only one trip to DHS for dinner and Fantasmic.

When we leave WDW on the 20th, we'll head up to GA, then the next day end up in TN for five more days of loveliness. I've never been to TN or seen the Smokies, so I'm pretty excited about that.

I'm just so glad my count is finally in the teens. The time is dragggggggging until we leave for me...

Holy crap, guys! It's my last day of work before our trip! I took tomorrow off to clean the house before we left. Now DH is going to be home, but I told him I'm still cleaning it tomorrow and it better be spotless when I get back, too. (hahahahahah, right.)

Yeah, the panic is definitely starting to set in!

WOW!! Time to go?!?! Have SO MUCH FUN!!!! and report in if you can on weather and FP lines and stuff :) But mostly relax, enjoy, and have a GREAT time!!!!! Wishe I was leaving now.

I was also taking another look at our touring plans yesterday once I saw what the temps have been like to see if I needed to adjust anything. Turns out that my original plans had already included a lot of sit-down activity or indoor type of attractions for the afternoons so looks like we should be okay. Well, everyone else will be okay at least . I'm doing all the FP runs so I'll be a little warmer. :lmao: The only thing I added was a Dole Whip break mid-late afternoon at MK! ;)

MMmmm, definitely good to add a Dole Whip break :thumbsup2 i usually plan for a frozen drink in each park. Cannot do without them in the heat!

I can't wait for the next 2 weeks to fly by and then it will be time to pack! I just wish it was here already. We are going with a group of 8. Ranging in age from 63 - 18 months. Any tips for us?

Hit the parks early to avoid lines and to be able to do things while it's cooler out. If you can't leave the park for mid day breaks then at least plan for indoor shows and things like that to stay cool mid day. and HAVE FUNNN!!!!!!

Picked up a few things for the trip last night, but I still need to get suction cup hooks for the Easter egg lights I bought for our window. I need to bring home my little Toy Story lego sets that are on my shelf at work - I'm going to take those for our room, I think. I'm also considering bringing the 5x7 of DD and I with Mickey and Minnie that is on my desk and having them autograph it.

I also want to re-run our touring plans plans to set it up for minimal walking - I want a plan, but I really don't want to criss-cross the parks a lot given the weather reports for early next week.

I'm probably forgetting something to pack. I picked up hand sanitizer and sunglasses last night, I have new books for my Kindle for lounging at the pool...

And I told DH last night that I'm vaguely nervous about being the only adult on this trip, even if the girls are 17 and almost 16. He says we'll be fine and if there's an emergency, Disney will take care of us, and logically I know that but this is a huge long trip and I was expecting backup!

(On the other hand, Spirit Airlines was great about DH not going - they gave him the credit for his flight and switched his checked bags to DD (we were only going to check two suitcases, but one was in his name) so that's all set.) It was nice to have one less thing to worry about.)

I have a few things to finish up here at work today and then DD has an eye doctor appointment at a "glasses in about an hour" place to try to get prescription sunglasses before Saturday. Her insurance didn't roll over until yesterday. Talk about doing something at the last minute!

Yeah, the panic is definitely starting to set in!

have a magical time! we will be staying at POFQ on our trip too!

We're leaving around 3a.m. Saturday morning to go to WDW!

I may have just planted the seed in my wife's mind that we could go ahead and leave tomorrow night after we've loaded the car. The kids were going to sleep that night anyway, and we'd have more time at Disney. Wouldn't have a room until 3p.m. on Saturday and we'd be exhausted, but we'd be exhausted anyway upon arrival with our planned departure time, right?

Was that a bad thing to do?

Absolutely not! the earlier the better. You can just take a nap by the pool when you get there. :thumbsup2

Just remember you're only as strong as your weakest link, so when someone starts flagging, you may have to adjust your plans. We've gone with a big group and found that sometimes splitting off worked really well, particularly with the older members of our group who just didn't want to do everything at the breakneck pace that some of the younger ones did! It kept everyone from getting cranky and it was fun coming back together for dinner and comparing notes from our day! We're going to be right behind you and I can't wait for the next 3 weeks to fly by! :goodvibes

Of course, he would be coming back AFTER we leave. :sad2: Atleast I got to meet the 2 of them last year (definitely worth the hour wait!).

Mickey Mail came today!!!!! 29 days till Disney.

Angie and everyone leaving this weekend - HAVE A BLAST. Don't forget about us when you get back and tell us ALL ABOUT the FUN & Magic you had at Disney.

just under the 3 week mark for me. I still have to book my return flight. I'm sure we'll end up paying an arm and a leg. :rolleyes1

Yay!! Some of you are going on your trips soon! Hope you all have a blast, and looking forward to hearing what everything is like!

17 more days for me!! :woohoo:

Sounds pretty legit to me :sad1: Someone did say they've been there during this event in the past and didn't notice much of a difference so I will hold out for that. I see they are doing awards in the world showcase the day I'm there which I don't like and it doesn't even say a time but at least i have another repeat visit to this area the following week too.

This is the part i don't like (in red)...

• Cheer Worlds Final Competition and Awards at ESPN Wide World of
Sports® Complex
• Dance Worlds Final Competition and Awards at Epcot’s World
Showplace Pavilion
• Private Block Party at a Disneyworld Theme Park TBA

So which park is it???? and are we to anticipate a park closure or early closure that we havn't anticipated???

I guess I need to print the form and read over it well, then make adjustments to me touring plan (crowd calender only)

Some one on that thread said they could be there until May 6th - Based on how long their tickets were good.

I just bit the bullet and booked our return flights even though I probably should have waited 'til tuesday when prices are lowered. But I was afraid we wouldn't be able to get a good flight, or prices may even go up since at that point we'd only be 2 weeks out.

We paid $460 for our flights down. $1600 for our flights back. :sad1:
