OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

Switched our resort today !! We were going to stay at Pop .. but I upgraded us to Caribbean Beach. But I'm not telling my family until we show up there. :goodvibes

So now we will arrive at CBR on the 10th -15th of April !

Aw man, I was so excited when I saw the Disney Visa pre-sale for free dining plan. Love how the ad didn't tell you it was for the August-Sept timeframe :(
I mean, I should have guessed, but seriously... free dining would make our lives so much easier. Alas, we're trying to go on the cheap, and paying for it is just not cost effective.

Thanks for such a warm welcome all!
I will def update everyone :)
I realized a few weeks ago that my youngest DD had no clue what Disney World was! Now she talks about nothing else!

I am curious about how the weather is going to be when we go. None of our summer clothes from last year fit so I will have to go shopping before the trip and want to know what I need to get.

ya, it can be costly for sure. We don't stay onsite so we can stay longer. We do a condo for under 100 and purchase groceries. If we stayed onsite and ate at restaraunts the whole time we'd only be doing a 5 or 6 day trip but instead we are staying for almost 3 weeks  I do miss being in the "Disney Bubble" at tiimes but I'd much rather be in the glorious Florida sun for longer. it's still my happy place. lol

 I think you get the point hey?? lol. When we go the end of April it's beautiful!!!! I guess i should have checked your dates first b/c if it's beginning of April there is a chance you can get a cold rainy day or cooler evening/morning - at least that's the way it was when we went early April one year. But late April is GORGEOUS!!!

It is very unlikely that this will affect us April DISers unless they fall waaaaay behind schedule, but both WDWMagic.com and easyWDW.com are reporting that beginning today MK Express and Resort monorails will not be running between 11:30am and 6pm due to construction at the GF DVC site. EasyWDW is reporting an end date for this new procedure of March 17th while WDWMagic is reporting completion by "end of the month".

Just paid off our trip!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

What's the issue? That sucks for those who book monorail resorts for the convenience of monorails. (Like us) We originally wanted YC, but my Dad was adamant that we be on the monorail track. He would be seriously ticked off if we went and the monorail wasn't running all day! Annoying!! At least they still have the ferries!

From what I've been reading, no one knows exactly, but people are guessing that it's primarily a safety concern with heavy equipment working in very close proximity to the monorail tracks.

It sounds like it's very unlikey that this will stretch into April. I wouldnt worry too much about it but I agree it will definitely detract from the experience for those going in March and not just for those staying at monorail resorts since the Express line is also being closed. The timing of the day for the closures will mostly affect those who are going to try to take a midday break and since it's non rush hour hopefully the additional water transportation will make it easier.

I would think they would want to be back on a normal running schedule for when spring breaks and the really busy time starts so i think we have that to our advantage.

It's always been low to mid 80s when we've been in April.
Have fun shopping!!!

I am so excited to hear this. We went for our first trip this past Oct and was "promised" great weather. Well, the day we arrived we got some freak "weather system" and had 7" of rain one day!! It did not stop our entire first day there!! Ha! Of course it got better each day, and then the day we left it was GORGEOUS!!

Congratulations! I did that for my family several years ago -switched us from Pop to POR. We loved the upgrade so much that now we always stay at mods, mixing in the occasional deluxe.

Our Mickey Mail finally came today! DH called me and said "Are you expecting two large envelopes from Disney?"

"YES! Yay, it came!"

"Oh, I didn't say it came, I was just wondering if you were waiting for it. You hadn't mentioned!"

I laughed and he said he'd let me do the honor of opening it tonight. *grin*

I am pretty sure I'm going to mostly pack light pants. The mid-days might be warmer (low 80's) but I am going to freeze to death in the mornings in shorts. I'll pack some shorts in case this doesn't work and I have to go back to the resort mid-day to change, but I'm cold in the shade when its 80. :P

I also agree about skipping Epcot if you are limited on time. While it does have a lot to offer, my kids (who are around your GDs age) would pick to skip Epcot out of the 4 parks.

But the extra 1/2 day in a park is always a good idea. We usually do that too.

Have fun taking your grand daughter! :goodvibes

Thanks for the input! That's good to know. I really wanted our last day there to be relaxing by the pool. Last year due to a lot of things out of my control, we were late to the ME and I was mortified that they were waiting for us and everyone looked really angry. It was all of 5 minutes, but still, I felt really badly.:guilty: So, staying at our resort will guarantee that not happening again!

I just paid off my trip!!! :dance3:

We have 50 more days! It's just my daughter and I going. She turns 14 the day after we arrive!! It's her first Disney trip and I haven't been since 1985! We are both beyond excited (although I am probably more excited than she is ;)). We'll be at CSR from 4/22-4/29. :woohoo:

Got our Magical Express stuff the other day...yay!!! :dance3:
