OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

packing is going well!! Toiletries done, medicine bag done, and mine and DD's clothes are gone through and set in a pile :) I guess we will be living on a limited wardrobe for the next 2 weeks and 3 days!! :lmao:

they are shuttling to the Boardwalk Pool but for what you pay at the Yacht Club it just really takes away from a lot of the reasons for staying there. We are leaning toward switching to the Boardwalk because we won't be looking at the construction and won't have to be shuttled every time we want to swim and while swimming it's nice to know your room is right there if you need something. And this way we wouldn't be giving up being in the Epcot area although I've gotta say, the Boardwalk doesn't compare to the Yacht Club atmosphere. I guess if I had more than 4 days to prepare for this it may not be as upsetting but right now we have to make a decision and knowing that staying at the YC wouldn't be the same experience under the circumstances has taken a lot away from this vacation for us in such a short notice. Even if I thought we'd be going back again sometime soon I wouldn't mind but since my daughter will be in college I'm thinking that may not happen so we may never get the chance to stay at the YC again as a full family.

I'm so sorry about the problems you are having!! It's just awful. Hopefully, once you decide, you can put it behind you and once you get there Disney magic will overwhelm any bad feelings you have right now!!

I am officially addicted to the DIS and I know I'll still lurk everyday even after our trip :thumbsup2 Thanks everyone, you all rock! :worship::worship::worship:

I'll warn you, being on the DIS after a trip only leads to one thing: planning your NEXT trip.

Oh, no!! That stinks...I'm sorry you are having to deal with that. Are you switching your reservations?

How is everyone's packing going? I thought this trip would be so much easier to pack for ~ we have always gone in January so I had to pack so much to cover the crazy weather. But due to the heat, I am still packing so much ~ several extra clothes/outfits b/c I feel like the days we take a mid-day break (which will be almost every day), I know we will go through 2 sets of clothes a day (just can't put sweaty clothes back on after taking a break to swim). At least they aren't as bulky I guess...

Packing has started - Kinda - I have a ton of stuff in a corner of my bedroom, and it's all in travel bags, however, I know myself well enough to know that I will take every piece right back out at the last minute and repack it, just to make sure it can go off my list. Yep, I am that kind of person.

Oh and I forgot to tell you guys (yes, I feel close to you all now) that my friend called yesterday to tell me the her plans have changed a little. She was going to tour with us Sat & Sun & Wed & Thurs then head home Fri. The break was to visit with a friend - now her friend called yesterday and will now be visiting 3 days - so now she will be touring with us Sat, Sun, Mon and Fri and she will leave sat. The only thing that sucks is I had to cancel her and her DD off Wishes and to late to change to Friday so they will miss it - Not a huge deal.
And I am going to be an Aunt to twins any day now, found out last night that if the boys don't come by the 25th, the Dr. will take them out then. This is will mean that I can't see the babies until the last weekend in May b\c of our trip and my work schedule when we get back - I wish they would come - ummmmmmm today, then I could go this weekend.

Packing? What's that? :confused3 Ugh... I'm usually so organized, but not this time. I badly sprained my foot 5 weeks ago, and although it's healing, it's S L O W. So frustrating. I've been trying to be really good and stay off of it as much as I can, but that means I'm so far behind that I'm ready to panic!!! I'm also really worried that I won't be able to walk long/far enough in the parks. DH keeps joking about renting a wheelchair, but unfortunately we might eally need to! :scared1: I'm still so excited, and so are the rest of us, especially DD whose HS chorus will be singing at DTD while we are there! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about this. I hate decisions like that... you feel like it's not right either way. I hope you get it worked out, and no matter what, enjoy your trip!!!:wizard:

bummer about the YC pool thing...... I know how horrible it feels to get your plans upset like that at last minute, it feels like the worst possible thing ever. BUT, you just have to remember --- when it comes down to it, you'll still be at Disney. I'd sleep in a tent in the parking lot if it was my only option, and still be thrilled to be there. :lmao:

Best part of the trip for me was seeing my DD's eyes light up everytime she met a princess or a prince.

We were able to get a picture and autograph from every princess! Even at crowd levels in the 9's and 10's!

That is awesome! Disney through the eyes of our children...what could be better?

I'm the same way. Need the fresh clothes for the second half of the day! But you're right, they take up less room than the clothes for cold weather, so you should be okay. As for my packing, I've got my documents, gift cards, bathing suits and a couple of tops packed, but I'm slow this year. I'm losing weight and am hoping to have to go buy a few smaller things! :rotfl:

So sorry to hear about this! I would be upset too. I think the Boardwalk would be your best bet under the circumstances since you wanted to be in the Epcot area. I know you'll adjust and have a wonderful time, but meanwhile, we feel your pain! :group hug: Hope your daughter has the time of her life!

Oh, I've definitely done my homeword :thumbsup2 I've got all kinds of lists and cheat sheets to take with me, so we'll be good there. DH and I are in our mid-40s and we really are excited. I'm now 12 days out and ready to jump out of my skin with excitement. The other day, I just wasn't feeling all that excited, but I'm so glad that horrible feeling has passed :lmao: I will definitely come back and let you all know how it was. I thank God I found this Board and got so many great hints, tips and suggestions from everyone here. I am officially addicted to the DIS and I know I'll still lurk everyday even after our trip :thumbsup2 Thanks everyone, you all rock! :worship::worship::worship:

Good for you! I was 40 on my first trip to WDW and it changed my life (at least how I want to vacation!;)). I'm glad the excitement is back!:dance3:

If you need a wheel chair, please don't tough it out, just get it. I didn't do that and I was sorry later. A bad sprain is sometimes worse than a break, so be careful! Don't panic about your progress on packing...it will somehow get done. I hope you have the best trip ever!:goodvibes

On a personal note, since our son is definitely moving to Ft. Myers the first week of May, we are going to upgrade our tickets to Annual Passes!! Since we'll be visiting him 2/3 times a year, that seems like a no brainer. It was DH's idea, so I'm like...ummm let me think about it...OKAY!!:rotfl:

Packing is officially finished! YAY! I've been bouncing off the walls here, sooooo excited. This morning I went and changed some of my ADR's again lol......I am now fully satisfied with them! We will be eating at Hollywood Brown Derby, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Liberty Tree Tavern, Manginos at Shades of Green (for another disney friends vow renewal while there), Wishes Dessert Party, Yak & Yeti, Narcoossee's, Le Cellier, Bistro de Paris, and Boma for breakfast on departure day! My mouth is watering thinking about all the food places.......and they are all places we've never eaten before!

We leave late tomorrow evening/super early thursday morning......my dad is driving us 3hrs to the airport in Des Moines for our 630am flight :)

Cannot wait to do our beach day and then disney!

Hope those babies come early so you can see them sooner than in May :scared1: I'm missing my dd's 5th bday and that's bad enough - i couldn't imagin missing the birth. Crossing my fingers for you!

Seems the older you get the longer it takes for things to heal :guilty: Sending pixie dust and prayers your way for a quick recovery so you can really enjoy the parks properly pixiedust:

OOOoooohhhh! Have an amazing magical trip!!

Off to get our Mickey toes!

ooooh, I hope you show us a picture :goodvibes

Off to get our Mickey toes!

Can't wait to see them! I got my Mickey manicure last week, and will touch it up Friday before I leave:

I'm taking no chances. I'm getting my nails/toes done only 2 days before we leave!!

Not feeling the work thing today. 11 days feels like miles away. It's going so slow. And work is BUSY, which was NOT on the agenda..well, MY agenda anyway!!

I freaked out last night when for some reason I went to look for my ME passes and they were NOT where I thought I had put them. But I found them, but still, I'm getting to THAT point. No packing for us yet, although I am mentally packing. What toiletries do I need to refill, which makeup should I bring, etc., etc.

I just want to be there already....

I'm leaving two weeks from today!!!!! :yay: It just can't come quick enough! Have fun everyone! :goodvibes

our NO KIDS trip!! Can't wait...need to schedule a mani/pedi over the weekend. Have not started to pack and am in a complete state of panic!!!
we are not checking any bags since we are only going for 4 days and have never NOT checked a bag so am even more freaked worrying about what/how to pack everything "legally'

packing is not going well!! I thought I would have all this week to pack but I got a phone call yesterday morning asking me to be a long term sub until the end of the year.
Although I am beyond excited:banana: (been layed off for almost 2 yrs) it couldn't have come at a worse time. I just wish I was starting right after vacation ugh!
I can't complain though.
So I only have most of the kids stuff packed. I'm gonn try to do some tonight.

I am going to go get mine done 2 days before we leave - :thumbsup2

I went shopping AGAIN today - just $ store, but still....I went in for an extra set of headphones and a book light but I walked out with: 3 hand held fans (for lines), hair bows (like I needed more of them) travel shaving cream (already have 2, but it was name brand so I couldn't help myself), plastic spoons, 2 sets of headphones and a book light. WHY can't I ever just buy what I go for?

Also, my TA sent me a gift - a disney gift card???????:lovestruc LOVE HER!!!! And I found out that Babycakes, the gluten free bakery in downtown Disney, is on the dining plan and takes gift cards - AWESOME!!!!!!! So I will NOT be missing out on sweets while on vacation. We plan to go to Babycakes as soon as we get to Disney (before check in) and pick me up some cupcakes and stuff. It was starting to upset me that I wouldn't be able to eat any desserts, I CAN!!!!

17 days till Disney & we are telling DD's friend Sat evening that she is going to Disney. She is going to flip out when she finds out, she has been asking her mom if they could save "their" money to try to go to Disney next year (b\c she has heard us talk about it so much) So cute.

That does stink about the YC pool! I would be disappointed too!!! I love all of the updates on packing preparations, too funny! I have a pile started but I'm so busy with school and this show (we're thick in the middle of choreography) and trying to get as much done as possible before vacation. It's making the days fly by though! I can do online check-in tomorrow!!! Woot! Woot!:banana:
