(April 2) -- 'American Idol' contestant David Cook is "doing fine" after being hospitalized because he felt heart palpitations following Tuesday night's show, a PEOPLE source confirms.

According to the report, the rock-loving Cook was treated at the hospital for high blood pressure, and was shortly released.

The hospitalization came after Cook unleashed another praise-worthy performance, belting out his own take on Dolly Parton's 'Little Sparrow.' Following the performance, Cook was not among the rest of the contestants.


TMZ broke the story and reports that Cook has been stressed out behind the scenes because his ailing brother, who is battling cancer, had a setback."

He didn't look so good after the performances when they were all around the piano.

I feel bad for David. He's on the cover of the new Star magazine about his "family tragedy." He's not even an actual star yet and the media's already hounding his family Apparently the "AC" on his guitar every week is for his brother and I hope things turn out OK. My Uncle had cancer twice and the last thing anyone would have needed during that horrible time was being gossiped about in random magazines
