HUGE Dolly fan here and I hated MJ. That was horrible. I had to post my thoughts tonight

Jason made me a fan tonight. Great performance, great song he really seemed to understand what he was singing. I also loved that he did a recent song by Dolly.

Brooke's Jolene wasn't horrible but I thought it was just shy of being a lounge singer version.

Ramiele was forgetable.

Syshesia did an ok version of I will always love you however, her voice strained at the end and made it just ok

David Cook, wow, I was shocked he took on a bluegrass song, one of my favorite Dolly songs and actually did a fantastic job.

Carly, what can I say I really didn't care for the arrangement. It was way more of a ballad and it was one of Dolly's first cross-over hits. She sang it well though.

David A. fantastic, I liked Jason more but he did a wonderful job. I loved the emotion.

Kristy absolutely the worst version of Coat of Many Colors. I think that she didn't get the emotion behind the song. I really thought she would have tonight in the bag, I was wrong.

You and I are on the same page here, although I've always been a fan of Jason. Michael Johns is very forgettable for me.

Here are some pictures for your new siggie:

But this is probably one you would really like:

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :lmao: :worship:

I find it funny that the man who owns only 3 different color sweaters (white, grey and black) makes disparaging comments about someone's outfit choices..... :happytv:

But I'd have to agree with him...her clothing choices for the show are not good.

I forgot to mention that I cracked up when poor David was so nonchalantly asked where he was getting the ideas for his arrangements ;) I can't believe such a big deal was made out of the whole thing... it's not like he stole the songs. He's mentioned a few times that he was using other band's arrangements (and he always named the bands) so I mean... :confused3

And Michael needs to stick to the bluesy/soul/rock sound. I love that kind of music and maaaaannn he sounded good :worship:

I agree. I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, EVERYONE is doing cover songs on this show, right? Yeah. It's a karaoke (sp?) contest.

I've gotten in about 15 votes..you?

It's never been busy...since I'm not a teenage girl, I can't vote for hours on end...I got in my 20 votes or so and was done. Probably throw a few more to her before the hour's up.

I voted for Syesha since I think she deserves another week. I could look at Jason forever and I'm a married woman :goodvibes

I was hoping Kristy Lee would get better but she hasn't.

Overall I think they need to find more contemporary songs for everyone.

Even though they're making predictions about what we already saw tonight, today's Entertainment Weekly Idolatry episode gets absolutely hilarious at the end...Today's ep should be the video that pops up in the link below...For those of you that haven't been following the webcast (and why haven't you...it's great...), Kristy Lee Cook=Robot...you'll see what that means...

I NEVER get any votes in. Last week I tried voting for DC for about 10 minutes. Never got through so I gave up. I'm not even going to try this week.

Robin, are you still breathing after your boyfriends performance? He was HOT tonight. My favorite performance of the night. God, I feel like I'm cheating on DC :lmao: who, by the way, had another great performance also. I just love his voice.

I also really liked Carly, and David A. sounded good tonight. The rest just kind of bore me.

Ok, off to read the rest of this thread.

I agree I can't believe they made him talk about his arrangement last week. Give me a break!

Anyway, my favorites of the night were David C. Michael and I actually like David A. this week. I also like Carly and Brook.

As to who will go home, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it will be KLC.

I think I'm in the minority with a lot of my opinions this week.

Of all the songs tonight..."I will always love you" is the only one I heard before today.

Brooke
- It's kind of hard to decide if I think people do well if I've never heard the song before. It sounds pretty good to me though. I think this was a good song choice for her. "You're Brooke White." Gee...thanks Paula.

David - LOVE the new haircut. Glad he's doinig his own arrangement this week. Good job. Not my favorite DC performance but still good enough to have a spot on my mp3 player!

Ramiele - ZZzzzZZZzzzzz. She butchered a song from yet another genre of music! Way to go! UGH. Go home.

Jason - He's still "that coffeehouse guy." I don't think he'll be anyone but that. It might work for him. But I don't know if it works for this show. I liked the second half of the song.

Carly - Eh. Not a fan of this. Usually I like her...but that was just kind of boring. I've never heard this song. Not sure how it's supposed to sound. To me, it sounds weird. I don't like it. And I agree with Simon. Her wardrobe choices are NOT good. Plus, she needs to lay off all that makeup. Overall, it wasn't terrible. But wasn't my favorite.

David A. - He sings like a girl. His voice is too breathy. He has a good voice but he's such a robot. I liked him a lot in the beginning but he's slipping more and more for me. If it continues like this...I'll probably hate him in a few weeks. I do hope he wins instead of someone I REALLY like (such as David Cook.) He should only sing contemporary Christian music. I'm sure his dad would approve of that.

Kristy - ZZzzzZZZzzzz. She puts me to sleep. Not a fan.

Syesha - Good. Not great. I thought the last note started out okay but then sounded odd. And it was just way too indulgent. Annoying. She's one that I liked a lot in the beginning...but not so much anymore. At least we didn't hear the weird baby crying this week.

Michael
- Good. But I'm just getting bored because I don't know these songs. One of the best of the night.

The order I would rank tonight's performances
David Cook
Michael
Brooke
Carly
Jason
David A
Syesha
Kristy
Ramiele

If it were up to me...I'd send Ramiele AND Kristy home.

But I know that won't happen. I can't decide who will actually end up in the bottom three. For now, I'm going to guess - Jason, Syesha, Carly. With Syesha heading home. But then again, maybe not. Her song was the most recognizable for non-country fans. So maybe she'll get some votes for that. We shall see.

Overall...this was probably my LEAST favorite week so far. I was pretty bored most of the time. A few of the songs were entertaining. Most were super dull. I'm happy "country" week is over and I hope they don't do it again this season. It just isn't my thing. It makes me sleepy.

Can anybody tell me what Simon said about Michael Johns? My DVR cut off right when he said "I have to tell you something" :badpc:  I tried youtubing but it isnt up yet.

He was my fav!

When you posted this link yesterday(?), I ended up watching all of them. They are all really good. I want to work at EW!

so i came in for a quick little post. i went and youtubed David Cook's performance just so i could see it. i actually got lucky this week and got to go to my friends house to watch the Sabres game(DO YOU BELIEVE!?!?!?) so i didn't have to waste my time with country week....but of course i HAD to see David!!

well.....the song was still a bit too "country" for me.....i still love the sound of his voice, and he sounded great, but the song was stupid. but honestly...what can you do with songs like that, you know?? but the judges still loved it. i agree with Simon, not as good as last week, but it was still good. he's definatly the guy to beat in this competition this year.

DH2B gets out of work soon and he recorded it so i'll probably catch Michael Johns' performance if i can stomach the country.
