Printing out images you find on the internet from your own personal computer for personal use is not going to be copyright infringement. Taking those same magnets and then selling them on Etsy would be. But that’s also rampant of course.

I believe only if you sell them. Considering I have been on 59 DCL cruises using these magnets with no issue I’ll take my chances. Plus Disney would have to come after the thousands of other guests that use Disney images each week on all their ships

You legally cannot print out Disney images and stick them on your door, though Disney is unlikely to enforce removal. It's still wrong, just like bringing alcohol in a shampoo bottle.

Why not make your own original designs?

We each pick a character for every cruise and I make magnets for each person/ character in the cabin. The kids love it. I never thought of it as illegal because it is personal use, but we do print out images found on the internet. But then again I do support subversive behavior and rum running. Let’s just say even though I’m female I pick Jack Sparrow as my character for almost every cruise. Or Mrs. Incredible. “And leave the saving of the world to the men? I don’t think so.”

Disney would have a really big challenge on their hands with Guest satisfaction if they started going after people for cruise door magnets. The amount of people that decorate their door and the extent that some do would really cause ripples. It’s become such a tradition especially personalized magnets. I’m guessing Disney doesn’t find making these and selling them isn’t that profitable of an investment. Let the little guys make some money and let the DCL guests enjoy decorating their door how they see fit

I actually had a random thought tonight about door magnets. Taking a photo, and have AI make it a character. We did this with one of my grandsons, he is just the cutest pirate imaginable! I told my husband that he and I should become Cinderella and Prince Charming.

We want just enough magnets to be able to find our doors quickly. I know many others decorate their doors lavishly, but ours will be simpler!

There are things that are technically, officially, legally copyright/trademark infringement that Disney does not shut down. Fan-fiction and fan-art are technically violations of Disney's IP. However, like all major studios/publishers, Disney is not going after people unless they try to make money. If you want to make your own magnets, you are unlikely to be sued or have Disney ask you to remove the magnets.

Part of our family fun is choosing, or making, our magnet designs. We then print them at home onto special printable magnet sheets. Carefully cut them out and you have a new family cruise memory.

Characters from different franchises/movies interacting on the door together.

So, we are big Star Wars fans. We have a Millenium Falcon that goes around the door number on the classic ships. We have additional TIE fighters that go with it. We added a silhouette of Eugene and Rapunzel in the the boat with floating lanterns at the bottom of the door. Then we added more TIE fighters blowing apart the lanterns as they get higher on the door. We sail over Labor Day. Once it's all up on our door, I'll post a picture here so you can see what it looks like. We tested it on our refrigerator, but you can't see things very well because they're black magnets on a black fridge, and the lighting in our kitchen wasn't very good. We just wanted to make sure sizes were correct and they all fit.

I'm 100% certain this is not true and I would love to see the court case that establishes precedent here. I would be shocked if Disney brought suit against a guest and a judge didn't immediately dismiss the case as frivolous.

And "wrong" implies a moral judgment. The alcohol in a shampoo bottle is a deliberate attempt to circumvent your cruise contract via deception. That's wrong. Printing out a picture of your kid's favorite character to stick on your door in a public space is not deceptive and it doesn't devalue Disney's IP. Do you walk the stateroom decks hanging your head in shame at the moral corruption on all of the stateroom doors? Or do you go "Oh, look! The guests in 6196 like The Rocketeer too!" ?
