I hate work…you leave here and the thread’s on page 5 and you come back and you’re up to page 70…no way I’m getting through all that…

Anyway, I'm way late to the game this week (sorry, Robin)...

Top 10 – Songs from the Idol’s Birth Years

While Michael Johns is older than me, nearly everyone else makes me feel old…

Ramielle Malubay – 1987 -- Alone – Carrie Underwood did this so great her year and Ramielle just doesn’t have that range. That being said, I think this was one of her best performances…that’s not saying a whole heckuva lot, though.

Jason Castro – 1987 – Fragile – Happy Birthday, Jason! It’s my brother’s birthday today, too. That being said, I’m not cutting you any slack because it’s your special day. A weird song choice that suited him, but I agree with Randy…it was a’ight, but it was nothing really special that “made us go wow.” He bores me.

Syesha Mercado – 1987 – If I Were Your Woman – I hate this song, but this was the first time I thought Syesha actually showed what she has to offer. Restrained when it needed to be restrained and belted when it needed to be belted. I was impressed, although I kind of agree that the last bar or two of the song was weak.

Chikezie – 1985 – If Only for One Night – I’m not familiar with this song and I didn’t particularly care for it. His voice was okay, but this Luther Vandross-style isn’t my cup of tea. No real off notes, but I was bored.

Brooke White – 1983 – Every Breath You Take – Except for the little blip at the beginning, Brooke continues her streak for me. Loved it. I actually liked it when it picked up with the band.

Michael Johns – 1978 – We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions – Robin…this is the first time I’ve liked Michael Johns. With the exception of the awful back-up singers, this was the first time I’ve ever enjoyed a performance by him.

Carly Smithson – 1983 – Total Eclipse of the Heart -- She has such a great voice – it always sounds so strong. The last note was lacking, but I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t say that wasn’t a right fit for her. To me, it was a perfect song for her. I liked it quite a bit.

David Archuleta – 1990 – You’re the Voice?? – What the heck was that? It sounds like it was from some corny early 90s movie playing over the opening credits. Seriously, no better song choice from your year? That being said, I actually liked the performance. This is the first time since Imagine that I’ve actually thought he had a decent voice.

Kristy Lee Cook – 1984 – God Bless the USA – Why aren’t you gone yet? It wasn’t nearly as good as the judges said.

David Cook – 1982 – Billie Jean – I think this might be my favorite David Cook performance. I thought it was excellent. Might be my favorite performance of the season. Loved it.

My Thoughts

I wouldn't be surprised to see Syesha or Chikezie go home. I really wish it would be Kristy Lee or Ramiele. But I just don't think I'm that lucky. Boo.

Oh, and I'm older than all of them (except Michael Johns...who is YOUNGER than my hubby though)...so I also felt kind of old.

Just found this thread!!!! I love David Cook, like many of you and I think it's going to be either Ramielle or Chikezie tonight.

He just always has that smirk on his face, like he knows he's the bomb or something....ugh.
I love his smirk! The way he smiled and smirked during Hello just stole my heart! :lovestruc

Thanks! btw my My Mom is the original word nerd, I'm a major word nerd and my son is a word nerd jr.... I can totally relate!!:thumbsup2
I'm a Word Nerd also...maybe that's one reason why I like David C so much.

My DD3 made some more random comments during last night's Idol, so here is her review!

David Cook: Crotch! Crotch! Crotch!
I'm not sure what that was all about, but again... I have to agree. ;)
OMG! I just spit my tea on my keyboard! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :worship:

My DD3 made some more random comments during last night's Idol, so here is her review!

Ramiele: Does she think she is a baby or something?

Jason: What are those things in his hair? What things? Those hanging dirty things. What are they? There's nothing in his hair, that IS his hair. Nnnnnoooooo, those ropy things. Yes, you let your hair get dirty and twist it up, it's called dreds. Dreds. Ok, but what are those things in his hair?

I still don't think she believes me.

Paula: She has shushy gloves!
I have no idea what that means, but every time Paula was on, DD yelled "Shushy Gloves!"

Chikeze: Ooooooh! Chikeze! He is cheesy!

Brooke: She goofed! Goofy goofing goof!

MJ: There was a lot of clapping involved during his singing.

Carly: She has scary eyes.
I have to agree.

David A: I like him! He is little like me!
Also during his song, DD sang her own song. It was vaguely to the tune of "Groovy Kind of Love" but the only word was "Poopie."

Kristy Lee: Let's call her Kristy Lee McKay. Okay?

David Cook: Crotch! Crotch! Crotch!
I'm not sure what that was all about, but again... I have to agree. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I love your daughter's reviews.

I think I need an intervention! My DC obsession is getting so bad I'm afraid he's going to replace Captain Jack in my dreams!
OR
Perhaps he'll just join him!!!!! :lovestruc

John Barrowman's Captain Jack?
Or
Johnny Depp's Captain Jack?

or perhaps Billy Joel's Captain Jack> :drinking1 ;)

Johnny Depp  , but I think Billy Joel's sounds good too :drinking1
You know, since I am dreaming....
I think I'll invite Michael Johns too! :cloud9:

I don't know if Chris Cornell needs too much help - his previous bands have been wildly successful (Soundgarden & Audioslave). Interesting that his official website has the clip of David - seems Chris liked his version. I guess I would be pretty thrilled if someone on AI did a song in my style
Thank you for posting this. I am familiar with Soundgarden and Audioslave, but I didn't recognize his name.
Ugh. That kids voice was NOT good.

What record company gave him the deal?
Apparently Warner Bros. Here's a quick link to the story:

I don't really like David C, but it's not for his singing at all. He looks just like the skeezy guy from college I didn't like and I can't get past that!! I need to listen and close my eyes or something. :)

Haha. David Cook actually looks a lot like my bofriend's friend who is a complete jerk. He also smells really bad and has the worst breath. That's why I have a hard time seeing David Cook as "hot." I still like him as a singer though.

Did dolphinDan really just give some love to DC? We'll make room for you at the altar next week. My DH loves David Cook and he so didn't want to like him at the start.

Now thats funny....:lmao:

Ok, you need to be banned from this thread, plus you like NASCAR, that is like grounds for a double banning if that is possible :rotfl:

Seriously, just kidding. It's ok not to like DC. I don't get it :confused3 , but it's ok. As for the NASCAR thing, my husband LOVES it, never misses a race, etc. etc., and I find it to be the most boring thing ever. It's good if I need something to put me to sleep :rotfl2: The hubby tortures me every Sunday.

I dont want to have a conversation off topic but

I am 34 year old southern boy and I hate NASCAR. I do like watching the wrecks on ESPN but thats it, no more....I always tell people I can go sit by the Interstate and see the same stuff and save a lot of money.....:rotfl2:

I was definitely in the minority during the Daughtry era. He still gives me the heebies and the jeebies. But I DEFINITELY understand his appeal. There is a fan for everyone!

even for me Robiin....:rotfl:

I am at work so I cant go back and read all of these pages so forgive me if this has been discussed. I heard on the radio this morning that the guy who slept in his car, Josiah, got a record deal with Warner.

good. I liked him and he should've been in the top 24

Yea, but I bet he makes crying girl tear up in a heartbeat. He's just the type. Ugh.

I didnt see her last night wasnt she suppose to be on or is it tonight she is in the crowd....good lord I hope they dont plaster her all over the TV.

LOL, he was telling everyone that he was SMART enough to LISTEN to Simon! Then he went on and on about how a person like him can be a star forever as long as he LISTENS...

Wisdom from the sage! :thumbsup2
