Top 10 Songs from the Idols Birth Years
While Michael Johns is older than me, nearly everyone else makes me feel old
Ramielle Malubay 1987 -- Alone Carrie Underwood did this so great her year and Ramielle just doesnt have that range. That being said, I think this was one of her best performances thats not saying a whole heckuva lot, though.
Jason Castro 1987 Fragile Happy Birthday, Jason! Its my brothers birthday today, too. That being said, Im not cutting you any slack because its your special day. A weird song choice that suited him, but I agree with Randy it was aight, but it was nothing really special that made us go wow. He bores me.
Syesha Mercado 1987 If I Were Your Woman I hate this song, but this was the first time I thought Syesha actually showed what she has to offer. Restrained when it needed to be restrained and belted when it needed to be belted. I was impressed, although I kind of agree that the last bar or two of the song was weak.
Chikezie 1985 If Only for One Night Im not familiar with this song and I didnt particularly care for it. His voice was okay, but this Luther Vandross-style isnt my cup of tea. No real off notes, but I was bored.
Brooke White 1983 Every Breath You Take Except for the little blip at the beginning, Brooke continues her streak for me. Loved it. I actually liked it when it picked up with the band.
Michael Johns 1978 We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions Robin this is the first time Ive liked Michael Johns. With the exception of the awful back-up singers, this was the first time Ive ever enjoyed a performance by him.
Carly Smithson 1983 Total Eclipse of the Heart -- She has such a great voice it always sounds so strong. The last note was lacking, but I dont understand why anyone wouldnt say that wasnt a right fit for her. To me, it was a perfect song for her. I liked it quite a bit.
David Archuleta 1990 Youre the Voice?? What the heck was that? It sounds like it was from some corny early 90s movie playing over the opening credits. Seriously, no better song choice from your year? That being said, I actually liked the performance. This is the first time since Imagine that Ive actually thought he had a decent voice.
Kristy Lee Cook 1984 God Bless the USA Why arent you gone yet? It wasnt nearly as good as the judges said.
David Cook 1982 Billie Jean I think this might be my favorite David Cook performance. I thought it was excellent. Might be my favorite performance of the season. Loved it.
My Thoughts
Top of the Heap
David Cook
Michael Johns
Brooke White
Middle of the Pack
David Archuleta
Carly Smithson
Syesha Mercado
Bottom of the Barrel
Jason Castro
Chikezie
Ramielle Malubay
Kristy Lee Cook
Bottom Three Prediction
Syesha Mercado
Kristy Lee Cook
and going home Chikezie Kristy avoids it again!
