I'll be in the minority here and say I wish it was Jason Castro who went home. At least we have seen some life in Chekezie. When Jason Castro sings, I feel sleepy all of a sudden, same with Ramielle.

Oh, I knew KLC would be safe because if you sing a song about loving America, you're not going to get voted off, not matter what

I was so sad to see Chikezie go home last night. :( I am a Luther Vandross fan though, so that's probably why. I do hope he gets to make an album, I would definitely buy it. And I think he's cute with that dimple and sweet smile. I will miss him. I was wishing Jason would go home, or even Syesha.

I was HAPPY to see Kristy Lee NOT in the bottom 3! I know most of you don't agree with me, but I think she has a GREAT voice for country. I'm anxious to see how she does next week with Dolly Parton as their mentor. I'm a country music fan anyway, so I think the show will be really good!

I actually liked the group number they sang, for sentimental reasons. That song was originally sang by Maxine Nightingale back in '75 and was popular during the time I met my DH and we were dating. It was one of "our" favorite songs. :lovestruc

I do have to say that I agree with those who posted yesterday morning about all the extra chit-chat in this thread. It's kind of annoying and distracting. Especially those that are just trying to boost their post count. It's annoying to have to scroll through page after page of chit-chat just to finally get to a couple of pages of what this thread is actually supposed to be about. Why can't all of you that want to chit-chat about other stuff start a different thread for that, you know - one of those clique threads - and just leave this OFFICIAL thread for the title subject?

Just a suggestion....

I know I probably missed reading a lot of posts about Idol, but I just got tired of all the drivel. :(

My youngest son totally had me crying today

THIS A BIT OT: but relates to parenting post somewhat

My dad was killed in OCT. actullay on my youngest sons Birthday, he turned 7. Well ever since then he has been getting into trouble at school. Minor stuff playing in line, in class, stufff like that. Well Monday we get a note he bloodied a kids nose. I have always taught him to defend himself and as long as he didnt start it he would not be punished by me. Well the kid hit him first but they were playing some kind of hitting game. The teacher said he did not get in trouble for hitting cause they both were doing it but when the boy started bleeding my son did nothing then lied about what happened. So I sit him dowm today to talk about it. I explained what he should have done and about lying...etc etc...well a couple years ago my dad had fallen walking with him and he ran to get me for help. My dad was hurt bad but ended up ok. I brought that up today about how he helped Grandpa that day he fell...and OH my the dam expoloded. He started crying uncontrollably. It took me forever but he finally started talking about it and how he missed grandpa and stuff. I told him that Grandpa is not gone just in his heart with God and that he still sees everything you do good and bad and he wouldnt be proud of his "little Hoss" for getting in so much trouble....He calmed down. Ihope talking helped him. he has been seeing the counselor at school too.

He had me crying that was toughest thing I have done as a parent yet..

Just thought I would share....

Oh gosh, this just broke my heart. Your poor son, and I'm so sorry about your dad

wow, 40 more pages to read! not sure if i will get through them all today :surfweb: just wanted to saw I was sorry to see Chikezie go, KLC really should have been out last night. And it would have been fun to see him do country next week - probably would have pulled out his harmonica again.
It was really funny to see Jason in the bottom three babbling on and on until Ryan cut him off to say he was safe. I hope he sticks around for a while if only because he is entertaining. It's hard to believe he's been on a tv series before.
It looked like Danny & David H were sitting behind Simon - Danny kept making all sorts of weird faces, haha. TV Guide had David H on before the show and he was very bubbly and goofy, a lot of self-deprecating humor and whatnot. Really nothing like what we saw on the show - I guess it's hard for them to be casual under those circumstances.

Awww Dan...

This reminds me of a situation that happened in my son's 2nd grade class.

A little girl really PUNCHED my son in the head at PE. Mike and the little girl were both taken to the principal's office. My son wasn't hurt but the little girl was inconsolable. She was just crying and crying. The principal asked her to apologize to Michael.

Michael told the principal "It's okay. She just lost her grandma and that's a TERRIBLE person to lose...."

He later told me that God made him big so people who were hurting could use him to let out their frustrations. He internalizes NOTHING. I wish I could be that way....

Children react differently to pain than we do. They act out and want others to hurt like they do and can't express. Be patient with him, Dan. He needs a way to express his pain and you can help him with that.

A few years later my son lost HIS grandma and then 6 months later his grandpa. He was MY rock during this time, even though he was only 10. So far he's survived it but there are times, like holidays and birthdays, that it is REAL hard. His Dad is schizophrenic so I have to be all things to him. It's trying but he thanks me for it everyday.

Man, it's hard being a child and a parent when you lose a parent. I know you have so much pain about your Dad, too and it's hard to get someone you love so much thru it, too, but, believe me, it's healing for you, too.

 :flower3:

I know I probably missed reading a lot of posts about Idol, but I just got tired of all the drivel. :(

Ya know, I'm not awake when all of the extra chatter is going on, but it really just takes me seconds to scroll through the page to see if there is any Idol talk, and if I have time I read the other stuff. It is interesting to learn stuff about DIS posters and it looks like people are developing friendships, which is nice so I don't mind it. I know that I would never open one of those clique threads so this is a nice way to get to know other posters through a common interest. I guess to each his own, but it really doesn't bother me.

I hope the theme isn't Dolly Parton:eek: Those poor people having to sing that and us for having to listen. Well, I won't be listening if it is, or Kenny Rogers. Idol must be getting deperate if this is who is mentoring people.

Geeze that is a bit harsh. Dolly Parton has been incredibly popular for over 3 decades and has had like 25 number one singles some of which were big crossover hits. She has also written some really notable songs (I will always love you). I think anyone would be lucky to have her as a mentor. I'm looking forward to next week.

I'm sad about Chikezie. I liked him. While he was by no means my favorite, or even in my top 3, he was entertaining and fun and he had such a sweet personality.

How in the world are Ramiele and KLC safe week after week? I just don't get it :confused3 I guess Rami really must be getting the Danny votes. Not sure how KLC stays alive. Oh well.

I completely agree! I really liked Chikezie's personality. He was just so cute and sweet.

I can't wait for Ramiele and KC to get the boot! Although, I prefer Ramiele to leave first. Her attitude rubs me the wrong way. I really don't get how she's staying safe. :confused3

A page or two here and there wouldn't be so bad, but when it's page after page after page of just yapping back and forth with nothing mentioned about Idol then, to me, it's annoying.

I realize I am not a "regular poster" here so probably my humble opinion doesn't count anyway  but I have stopped by many, many times to read people's opinions on the singers (there are a few, I won't mention any names, that I really, really enjoy reading and look forward to seeing what they think) and just read what people have to say about the show, even though I don't often chime in with what I think. But it just seems like here lately it has gotten to be more of an "idle" chat thread, rather than what it is supposed to really be for. :(

I agree. I think she will give them some great advice on connecting with the audience, too.

I can hear Carly or Brooke singing "Jolene" and KLC doing "9 to 5".

I love Dolly and so does my son. We went to Dollywood a few years back, THANKS TO MY DARLING FRIEND BUCKALEW  and it was wonderful. Michael just KNEW he was going to run into her and kept asking the workers where was she???

Every worker told him that she was the SWEETEST person! One told him that if she WAS there, he wouldn't recognize her because without her wig and makeup because she looks like a different person!

Actually, IMO *nobody* can do a Dolly Parton song like Dolly herself, including the AI-revered Whitney Houston *gag*. (DONTDOWHITENYHOUSTONYOURENOTWHITNEY, isn't that the AI party line that the Three Stooges always parrot?) THAT'S why I feel sorry for all the AIs next week - Dolly's stuff might seem simple or easy, but it's not.

I think Whitney Houston is no Dolly Parton.

agnes!

I 100% agree. I was seriously thinking of starting a new thread just for recaps and opinions and not the rest of the chatter. I like to read peoples opinions of the show/singers and reaction to what happened. I don't like having to skim through 50 pages of chatter and inside jokes to get to the few posts that are on topic. I am glad I am not the only one!

 It is so hard on the kids. My DD still has problems dealing with my moms death. My mom was very sick and my DD watched as she slowly faded away to a shell of herself. I'm glad your son was able to finally talk to you and is getting counseling. It can really help them and you. Good luck.

(I am listening to my new downloads from DC and MJ as I write this, so it's AI related. ;) )

Here's the rundown of next week's show.

Dolly will mentor and sing Jesus and Gravity.
Clark Brothers will also have a special performance
Contestants will sing songs Dolly Parton has wrote and I believe Kenny Rogers as well.
They are also doing a where are they now special, featuring Phil Stacey, Bo Bice, and Bucky Covington.

Got it? Good.

I can see Carly singing Jolene. I think she'd do a decent job actually. Pretty sure Syesha will sing I will always love you. Brooke White singing Eagle when she flies would be good.

Dolly did do a cover of Knocking on Heavens Door on an album, wonder if David or Michael will do that.

Should be an interesting show to see. Can't wait until the song lists are out and we get a sneak peek.

>>>> ETA ..just saw Mandy's post about it being songs she wrote.. ehh a girl can dream.
