Does anyone else think that there is a flaw in the whole voting system, considering the fact that you can vote as many times as you like?

Obviously, this is JMO, but I think you should be able to onlyh vote ONCE from a phone. I think this would give truer results.

It seems that in so many instances people must be voting over & over again. Look at the case with John Stevens last year (he is from my area, but I still thought he made it too far) - I am sure that all his high school friends continually voted until those phone lines were closed.

Again, I think there would be truer results if the voting system was changed a little.

Absolutely! I've always felt that there's a conspiracy theory in there somewhere waiting to be found; they need to change the way voting is done.

If it's still a *vote for your favorite to keep them in*, it should be a toll call at $1.00 a call. That would stop those that hit re-dial for two hours and call forty or fifty times.

Then each week, take all the money (less administration costs if necessary) from the calls and donate it to the charity of the one who leaves that week's choice (obviously, this would only work with the final 12).

So, even if you *lose*, you're still a winner - literally.

I said the exact same thing to my DH after week one. It would get things under control and do some great work.

That's an interesting idea. I really think the idea of a donating to a charity of the "loser's" choice would be a great way to go. I don't see it happening though. But it would be great if it did.

I also can't believe Janay is still there! She is terrible, and should have been gone last week. I know people won't agree with this, but she's like another Diana Digarmo who was also terrible and somehow made it to the end.

I agree that Janay is horrible but I can't see how you woudl even begin to put her in the same category of Diana Degarmo - I thought she was head and shoulders above Fantasia!! Fantasia could only sing one style while Diana was pretty good at singing everything!! Did you see her sing in the Disney Christmas parade - my dad who never comments on stuff like that came in from the kitchen to say what a great voice she had!! (okay - just had to defend Diana - carry on!!)

I do think that Diana was better than Janay. However...I do not think Diana OR Fantasia should have been the top 2...I don't think either one of them had a good voice, nor are American Idols. I think Diana should have been voted off earlier on, but kept sliding by, as did the younger boy w/red hair (forgot his name) last season. I think Janay is the sameway, and will somehow slide by for awhile, even though she does not belong.

I did see the Christmas parade and both DH & I were disappointed that she's be on. I just do not think she is good.

I'd just like to say that I enjoyed the 1/2 hour format. No goofing around, no making the loser sing. I wish they would always do it that way.

Neither Diana or Fantasia would have made it this far if they were in this year's competition, imo. This year they have pulled out all the stops, some VERY talented people have already been let go. I've always thought AI3 was the weakest as far as true talent overall.

ITA. This year they've really raked in some good people. It's a pleasure to watch and when it gets right down to it, it's going to be hard to see any of them go.

I felt that way last night with the two guys who got booted. I think they would have been in the top 5 or 6 of any other season, they just happened to be in competition with people even more talented.

Does anyone notice Mikayla's dramatic reaction everytime she's told that she's safe? It drives me nuts! Also, I think she and Joseph have a thing going on because she was literally sobbing when he was voted off, and all the girls were comforting her. At the end when everyone was grouped around the guys voted off, she beelined right to Joseph and was hugging him for a while (you have to pause it on your Tivo to see them in the background). Isn't this girl only 16? I have to say though that she almost redeemed herself this week with her song choice, and how well she sang it.

I can't believe Janay is still there. She looks like a young girl trying to play older, and the look on her face when she sings sort of freaks me out. I personally don't like her style or how she sings, it's terrible.

It's all about BO BICE, or CARRIE UNDERWOOD for me!!!

I agree that unfortunately Janay will be this year's Carmen. Every week I sat there just SURE that Carmen was history and yet she just kept turning up like a bad penny! You can't under estimate the power of the teens and their unlimited minutes on their cell phones. Once the guys and the girls get together and it isn't a segregated vote, I believe things will change for the better, though!

LOL! All too true. That is why I don't vote, I know realistically that I don't have the time nor the inclination to compete w/teenagers on a cellphone.

BTW, I agree with 3 of the top 5 you've selected, but I'd replace Scott with Nikko and Constantine with Carrie.

Ok, so that was my post, but you saved me typing time. That was my first reaction to Mikayla freaking out. The other girls didn't seem to care that he was going but she OBVIOUSLY cared. Isn't he 28 or something?

Janay=Carmen (but I dislike Janay a lot less than Carmen though!)

I also agree with the comment about AI3 being the weakest. Remember Elton John week?!?! HOW CAN YOU MESS UP ELTON JOHN!?!? That was all about wrong.

I really do like this season and I'm pulling for everyone! I think i'm becoming too attached already!! My final vote is Carrie Underwood when you get down to it.

I agree. I don't know how they could make it so that you can only vote once, but they should definitely do that.

I agree the voting is flawed, but even if they charged per call, it would be another example of rich people getting their way. I mean rich daddy's girls could dial all they wanted.

Unfortunately I think Janay is going to be another Carmen. She's a 17 year old high school girl and she probably has all her friends from her school and all the other schools around her voting for her. There's also the people that feel sorry for her because she looks like she's in pain when she's singing. I'm afraid she might actually make it to the top 12, and even worse, make it pretty far. I really hope not, I hope she's gone next week. I really almost feel embarassed for her when she's singing.

I remember they did a focus on Diana, how she would have to sit down with her tutor/mom and do school work while everyone else goofed off during down time. It was just something she and John had to do.

Who do you think will take the top prize... a guy or girl. Me personally, I think it will be a guy. I think they WAY outshine the girls this season.

I'm thinking it will come down to Anthony and Anwar, or Bo and Anwar, and Anwar will take the prize. He seems the most versatile, with a broad knowledge of music from his experience as a music teacher.

I'm not sure she quit her studies.......she may have a tutor, but the tone of the article definately said she did quit at the high school she was at, and moved on! I agree with you though, it looks as if she quit and moved to chase her dream. They frequently showed Diana at her High School, supporting it and her community, even though she was also tutored.
