Ok, im just going to say it....I don't like Janis Joplin...LOL
I just think she has a nails on the chalkboard voice (my opinion) but I did LOVE Melissa Etheridge's version of the song, that was awesome.

I thought Carrie did a great job of the Faith Hill version of Piece of my heart.

I'm with you. I'd rather hear cats mate then listen to Janis Joplin.

I still know who she is though, and I think anyone entering this contest should know that when people hear "Another Piece of My Heart", most are going to associate it with Janis Joplin, not Faith Hill.

the song was originally written as you heard it tuesday night. it was janis that changed the song to fit her style.

once she did that, she owned that song...............no one can come close to it. i've been a fan of janis since she started performing.

Everyday is an education! I did not know that! I do agree w/you though--Janis rules and does OWN the song!

Who I think should go home:
Guys - Joseph (lounge lizard) and David (the church guy)
Girls - Janay (not talented enough) and Aloha (ditto)

I almost completely agree with you. I think Janay and Aloha should definitely be the 2 girls going home tonight. I don't think Aloha will though, because a lot of people thought she did good last week so they might still vote for her because of that.

As for the guys, David definitely seems to be the weakest, because he had blah performances these last 2 weeks, so he should go home. As for Joe, I think he has a nice voice. I definitely don't think he'd win, but I'd like to see him stick around a few more weeks. Instead I'd pick Travis to go home. I know a lot of girls think he's cute and knows how to perform with all the dancing and everything, but he's just not as good a singer as everyone else.

We don't know for sure that Carrie didn't know Janis did the song, but I was surprised that she didn't speak up and say anything about Faith's version when the judges kept telling her it isn't a country song, Faith had a big hit with that version.

I wouldn't argue with that, either Just thought that, of the group, Joseph was least likely to stick around, and he did have a pretty weak performance this week. In any case, I don't think either of them are really a threat to win the competition.

That was bugging me too, I kept saying to DH, but Faith Hill had a huge hit with that song, so it can be country!!! I was irked how they kept telling her she didn't stay true to her style, um, yes she did! I can't believe not one of the 3 of them didn't know it had been done country already.

Yep, I was yelling at the TV. I'll bet Carrie thought she was true to Country since Faith Hill had success with it!

I'm watching last night's show right now. yawn.......just not real impressed. Liked Carrie and Vonzell the best I guess. But no one really wowed me. I must continue to tape these shows b/c of the stupid commercials. I can cook a 4 course meal as long as the commercials are! ugh and I can fast forward the boring performances.

i use my dvd w/hard drive to record.........no commercials, programmed to omit them

Just now on Good Day Live, Paula Abdul acknowledged that Carrie did the Faith Hill version. Why didn't they say something last night?

I know Janay is not a fave, but I thought she sounded really good with her song, and I don't think she deserved the critisism she got. (something about not being "connected", I thought she put on a great performance.

There is no way he'll win this contest. I don't even think he cares whether he wins it or not. I think he just wants the exposure so someone will see him and sign him on.

I am not impressed with any of the girls. Not one performance last night wowed me. It was boring.

I did not think that Carrie's performance was so bad. I love Janis Joplin also and nobody can sing that song like she can, but it wasn't bad. The judges tell them to take risks, but then some of them get slammed for taking them.

Out of the girls I like Carrie and Nadia, the rest it doesn't matter.

Interesting, that out of the MILLIONS of people who TRIED to audition, someone who has already been on a reality TV program would not only get a well coveted number to audition ( believe me, everyone who shows up to audition does not get a number) but makes it through to the top 24. HMMMMMMM.

Constantine was actually in a national touring company of Rent.... I thought that professional singers couldn't audition... hmm.. My friend has a copy of his program where he's listed.
