Broken Wing is a country song recorded by Martina McBride. I thought Jessica did it well considering the voice and range of Martina. I think it's usually a mistake to sing a song by someone with Martina's type of talent and range, such as last week's attempt to sing a Celine Dion song. There are some singers that just can't be topped.

I've never heard Joplin's version of "Take a little piece of my heart" but it is doubtful I'd like it since I don't like her voice or the type of music she sang. I like the country version.

Mr. Mister (I think) did sing a song named "Broken Wings" but this was a different song - country, I think.

Did anyone think that it was very difficult to hear the girls singing tonight? For almost every singer, it was very difficult for me to hear them at the beginning of all their songs. Once they inevitably got to the powerful endings, I could hear them fine, but the band really seemed to be overpowering.

I agree. You all need to find a copy of the Janis version... She nails it. RIP, Janis I'm sure she is smiling somewhere.

Now if someone just out and sings my favorite Janis song Mercedes Benz, I will be sooo happy.

I think that at 34, I am old. Am I the only one who doesn't recognize a lot of these songs they are singing?

I'm 34 as well, (And I don't think I'm that old. No matter what the media wants me to belive!) and I recognized all the songs, but the one that Janay sang. And I think the only reason, I couldn't tell what it was, was because I could understand a word she was singing. To me it seemed she mummbled the who song. She has got to go!

I'm not a fan of Mikalah at all, but she did do good enough for another week, and another chance to prove herself.

Don't care for Lindsey or Celena either, but out of the two, Lindsey is the one who needs to go home. I'm with Simon, who can't remeber what she sang last week. And even while writing this, I don't really remember her performace for tonight.

But the guys really are the stronger ones this year. Really like BO! He would have gotten my vote if I had made it home in enough time to vote.

Aloha- ok, but didn't rock my world. Song choice wasn't overly good.
Lindsay- pretty good, nice voice, but the song sounded a bit too low for her in spots
Jessica- thought she did a great job tonight, but needs to loose the blue eye shadow
Mikaylah- hated the song, hated her rendition of it, but was glad she kept her mouth shut for once. she needs to go home
Celina- I like her. I don't think the judges give her enough credit
Nadia- I like the song, but not how she sang it. I agree with Simon... it was too Cabaret. Like her better when she rocks... but glad to see she can branch out and do other things.
Amanda- she is my favorite... can do no wrong and did no wrong tonight. Still not up to Diana DeGarmo's version last year, though!
Janay- Very immature... couldn't stand the 'tude she had with Simon at the end. Didn't like her choice of song... to mature for her.
Carrie- I like Carrie and think she did better than the judges gave her credit for. Glad to see she tried to branch out and do something a bit different this week.
Vonzel- thought she did very well. Hope she will go far.

My choices to leave tomorrow night are Mikayla and Janay. Who will probably leave: probably NOT the ones I want to leave! Probably Lindsey and maybe Janay depending on the demographics of the voters.
My choices for the top 6 are:
Amanda, Jessica, Carrie, Vonzel, Nadia and Celina

I liked Mikalah tonight and I'm glad she toned it down a bit, now hopefully people will like her! I think the girls that did the best tonight were Jessica, Mikalah, Lindsey, and Carrie. Janay and Aloha were horrible and they should definitely be the two that go home tomorrow, especially Janay after that attitude she gave Simon. I know last week a lot of people threw her some sympathy votes, but hopefully they don't feel sorry for her after her little attitude. Everyone else was just ehh tonight.

I'm afraid that Lindsey will go home because she doesn't seem to have that big of a fanbase, but I really like her voice. I think the top 6 girls should be Carrie, Lindsey, Mikalah, Jessica and then the last 2 spots should be between Nadia, Amanda and Vonzell.

I was surprised but I liked Mikaylah best tonight too. Jessica was alright and Carrie picked a bad song but all in all, I think that the girls are nowhere near as good as the guys. I wish that we could vote out four girls and keep the guys!

These girls don't impress me at all. With the exception of Mikayla and Carrie, I can't remember who is who. Definitely have been enjoying the guys a lot more.

I'm soooooo glad I'm not the only one who doesn't recognize most of these songs. Of course, I have a daughter who's 34 --so that should tell you something. LOL!! I'm from the "Itsey Bitsey, Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' era! Now let's imagine Bo singing that!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

I liked Jessica the best tonight but other than that I was not impresssed with anyone...I am hoping to see Janay and Mikaylah gone tonight! Funny thing when I called to vote tonight I had NO trouble getting through...the prior night with the guys I couldn't get through until around 1030!

For me last night was pretty much of a yawner... with one totally unexpected exception. Here's my take on the girls.

Aloha- Didn't like the song and her rhythm seemed totally out of wack.
Score: 3

Lindsay- The first of the ladies that need to find their pitch and stay with it. The beginning of the song was way too low for her range. She was also off key. Score: 2

Jessica- See the pitch problem that Lindsay had. Toward the end of the song things picked up a bit. Give 'em a strong finish! Score: 3

Mikaylah- And here I had my voodoo doll with pins all ready and this kid comes out and sings an old Billie Holiday song and sings it well! I said to my DH, did someone give her valium? For me, this was the only performance that rocked last night. Perhaps professional help is in order but Mikaylah was the only person I voted for last night. Score: 4

Celena- An OK voice but she just doesn't have it for me. Score: 2

Nadia- Dreadful rendition of My Love. I kept seeing Paul McCartney in drag! Having said that, she has a wonderful voice and a fairly good command of the stage. Score 3.5

Amanda- Fun, fun, fun but needs a better type of song. That one held my interest for the first minute and then I wanted it to be over. Score: 3.5

Janay- She is just too young for this show. I thought she might pull it off for about 30 seconds but it was like OMG, I'm on stage came into her mind and she got panickey. Score: 2.5

Carrie- Note to Carrie... Don't ever try and sing Janis. They should pass a law that no one is allowed to do Piece of my heart no matter how famous they are. Be yourself Carrie because you've got a lot of talent. But don't try and do a song by someone who was one of a kind. Score: 3.5

Vonzel- Off key during parts of the song and way too much screaming. Score: 2

Who I want to be gone: Celena and Janay.

Who I think will be gone: Janay and ?? There are several in the Celena catagory.

Im not sure which one is Janay....is she the one that Simon told her she looks scared and is like a doll that is being molded into a pop star or something like that?

If so, I recognized the song, it is by Blue Cantrell or something close to that...I actually love that song and when it comes on the radio I crank it and sing along but her version was absolutly horrible and she kept singing the wrong words....part of it goes "spend it to the last dime for all the hard times" and she kept singing "spend it to the last time for all the hard times" I know it is only a slight change, but I think if you are in a contest you should at least get the words right...maybe I was just annoyed at how badly she was doing the song so that annoyed me too....who knows.

Ohh yeah and since we are spilling our ages, im 30 (well will be next month) I recognized all the songs

While I agree with others who have posted above, no one BUT Janis should sing Piece of My Heart, I had to give Carrie credit for trying to "do something different". I had no idea there was a "country" version of the Janis classic--is nothing sacred! Anyway, I will give Carrie the benefit of the doubt here because she has been spectacular AND isn't trying to stretch a part of the competition anyway?

I'm with the others who were pleasantly surprised with Mikalah! When she first began to sing the blues, I thought -- "oh no, what is she thinking", but she was good. Totally happy to see her tone down the childish (and yes, I realize she is a child) over-the-top behavior.

We all enjoyed Amanda's performance last night--technically probably not spectacular, but pleasant nonetheless.

Jessica stepped it up a bit last night compared to last week, too.

The rest--eh--who cares. . .

Gone tonight???? Celena and Janay, if we're lucky.

the song was originally written as you heard it tuesday night. it was janis that changed the song to fit her style.

once she did that, she owned that song...............no one can come close to it. i've been a fan of janis since she started performing.
