Official American Idol Season 4 Thread

I was so bummed the Tony Bennett/crooner guy got canned. He had a remarkable voice, but I guess his style was too limited.

Right now, the far and away standouts are Anwar and Constantine. The rest all sound the same and their voices blend together in my mind. I'm looking forward to seeing more of all of them!

they had an interview with jared, the guy from danville illinois that is one of the 12 finalist. he is the one that has brown eyes but wore blue contact lenses in the beginning


i wasn't one of his fans but know he has a great voice.

i a may be in the minority but i sure do like scott.

just think, next week three nights in a row for us!!!! monday/tuesday/wednesday...........only bad thing is 24 won't be on then.

She can act like a teenager and still have some composure, though! She really annoyed me (and DH!) last night when she found out that she'd gotten put through. To me, she seems to be milking her 15 minutes like crazy. I agree that she's talented and has a lot of stage presence, but she needs to tone it down a bit when she's not on stage IMHO. Otherwise, even if she wins, she's going to be nothing more than another perky, hyper teen-queen. That won't help her if she wants a long-term career in music, KWIM?

To each his own--it was a long day and the judges do a little bit of torture before conveying the results...many thought they were going home (including Bo who was about to get up and leave)...I've been guilty of TMI in my day spoken faster than the speed of sound--but I have mellowed...I think she has the capacity to mellow down--and I don't find her peformances perky. I think her happiness for making the cut will result in appearing as though she is gloating about it--now I would agree that would probably spell trouble for her if she doesn't tone it down.

I don't find her annoying either. I think all the ones that I found annoying have been eliminated. I am ready to get to know them better now. There are way too many of them who I have no feeling for whatsoever.

I like Mikayla. She's a performer, sure, maybe a little over the top, but a performer nonetheless.

I couldn't understand that girl who got cut and was saying she had nothing to go back to. Get a grip.

I don't like Scott (?) -- he scares me.

I like Anwar and Constantine, but a few of the others I don't even remember from auditions!

Yeah, I was kinda bummed too. But I think he just wasn't "right" for this competition, which is, after all, primarily about being a "pop" star. I really do think he could go to Broadway or even Vegas and be a star, though...For all those people that thought that red headed kid could sing, THIS is what a real "crooner" should sound like. Big voice, pure tone, and *gasp* actually ON KEY

Like someone else said, I think his "team" performance put the final nail in, but I don't think this was really his kinda gig anyway.

And what about voting. Is it phone calls only or can you vote online? With only the phone, it must be hard to get through seeing how many people watch this show.

In the past it's been voting by phone or text message. I don't vote every week but when I did I didn't have any problem. Well, except for the final. Then the lines are busy!

LOL, we're in full agreement. "Red" might sound o.k. in a studio, but his live performances left me hot and cold. This guy from this season had the goods, plus the maturity of someone a little older and more comfortable in his own skin. It was a risk for him to sing "Thats Life" on his last performance, but dang, he nailed it.

I do think it will be a men's year though....none of those women really grabbed me. And the young "perky" girl? Eh. A little of that is gonna go a looooong way.

At first I couldn't stand Mikayla but she's grown on me, she's just so real I couldn't help but like her.

I was happy that the mail girl from Florida got through, I like her.

I think it's a much better group then last time, looking forward to hearing them next week.

I like to listen to the downloads of them as it gives a more accurate opinion on their voices. If you try it you may find Constantine isn't as good as his fan base believes. I prefer men who look like men so the hair thing does nothing for me. I just don't think he sings particularly well. I don't doubt he'll stay on for a while though because so many will vote on his appearance. Reminds me of the first season with Ryan Starr - sure she was hot-looking and wore practically nothing but she couldn't sing at all.

I wish the website had video clips of the finalists' performances. There are quite a few that I haven't heard (or don't remember hearing):
Amanda, Melinda, Aloha, Sarah, Celina, Joseph, David and Nikko. I agree that the guys are much better as a whole than the girls.

Okay...we've got to vote for "the other rocker guy" and his name is BO BICE!

I actually know him! He has been playing clubs and bars (including where DH worked) in North Alabama for as long as we lived there...I'm not sure why they are listing him from Atlanta, he was born near Birmingham and has been in Huntsville/Florence for the past 10 years.

He would be rocking an acoustic set out back while the DJ's would be spinning inside. He is truly an amazing musician and has a beautiful voice. He's not all commercialized like that other fool they're pairing him with...I worry about him making Ford commercials and those cheesy singalongs...


PS. I dont know WHY he has his hair all long and has the scruff. He is much cuter cleancut! I'm pumped. This is the first time I've ever gotten into American Idol. Everyone at home is so rooting for him!

yay mscott1851, i like bo too! i'm glad others will be rooting for him. i think he is a far better singer than constantine. i hope he does cut his hair or something to distance himself from him.

I was so psyched last night when I realized that AI will be on 3 nights a week now. But I remembered this morning that I won't get to watch it each time and now I am bummed! I will get to watch all 3 nights next week, but after next week I won't be able to watch on Mon. nights (of course that's when the guys sing too) for 6 weeks. I start going to my childbirthing class every Mon. night for 6 weeks starting on Feb. 28. Oh, well, I guess I will have to visit this thread after each show for updates.

Anyway, I don't even remember all of the 24 finalists so I am not calling a definite fave until I do. Right now out of the ones that I do remember, I am rooting for Scott and Carrie. Sorry to all of you Makaylah fans, but man I hope she is the first to go!

LOL! We always tease my good friend cause she had a thing for John Stevens. I'll tell her she has another friend in the John Stevens world.


So far I really like Carrie, Anthony, and Mario. I was so happy the twin got canned. (I forget his name which is rare for me when it comes to Idol...) He drove me crazy. Woo hoo for 3 nights a week! And I am SO happy they're switching it up a bit this year. It's a welcome change for hardcore Idol fans.

I love the rockers and Anwar... they are definitely my favorites. They have great voices, personalities and their hair is also a huge turn on! (My husband had long hair for years, but when it started thinning out, he cut it). I like them because they aren't cookie cutter material like so many others. That is why I liked both Ruben and Clay, too.... they just didn't fit the mold. I also think that Scott has a phenomenal voice, but I hope they can do something to help his image. He looks like Vincent D'onfrio's( he is on Law and Order CI) character in Full Metal Jacket... you know, the one who went crazy and blew his brains out in the bathroom. I have to admit... he is a bit scary to look at. I am more impressed with the guys than the girls this year. The only girl I am REALLY pulling for is the Vegas Showgirl.
