NOOOO JP didn't make it!!! so i guess no crooners this year huh. that saddens me.

i was sorry to see john zisa go also. i am glad judd made it through. so far i'm pulling for him, but there's still 20 minutes to go, so who knows!

I think JP and his buddy's fate were pretty much sealed based on that trio #. H ewill now know not to go to sleep before prepping the night before an audition.

ok, here are my top faves:
MARIO(i misunderstood and thought he had been booted last night, so excited to see him get through!), Beau (constantine's voice is so nasal in comparison), and Judd. i also like Anwar and Scott.
all the girls i really liked are long gone. i'm sure i'll warm up to some as the competition goes on. right now Vonzell, Aloha, and Nadia are the only ones who don't seem as dull as paste (or in Mikaylah's case, just annoying!)
still can't believe they cut JP.
i really loved that little retrospective they did at the end: the lovely Mary Roach, the blonde triplets, the twins that auditioned twice, the fortysomething guy who claimed to be 28....ah memories

And I've read most of this thread, but has this come up yet? A friend of mine stopped by this evening, and separately we had both already decided that the cheerleader girl Mikayhla (sp?) looks like Barbra Streisand.

OMG - was she the one that spoke rapid-fire fast, and hugged everyone? I don't think she looked like Barbra, but I commented that she sure SOUNDED like her.

quite a few people on the board have thought she looks like minnie driver...and i think she sounds like fran dreschner when she talks. i like her voice, but her personality makes her very unappealing to me

I was pleased with the ones they kept tonight. I think they have a good bunch, but I am definitely rooting for the guys... lots of talent and very diverse! I agree, Micayla is VERY annoying, so it will be interesting to see when she goes... I predict fairly quickly. I will miss the girl who sang "Somewhere", but I don't think she had the fortitude to last without falling apart.. so maybe it is best!

I'm so glad that two of the rockers made it even though I thought that the third rocker had the best voice of the three. Actually, I like quite a few of the finalists this year. It's going to be hard to pick just a few favorites.

I think she sounds like Fran Dreschner too. But I don't like her singing and she is sooo annoying! I thought the judges got everyone dead-on last night except her! I was praying she would get cut! Oh, well, maybe soon.

I really like the way they are doing AI this year. I think the voting will be much more fair if they break the groups into guys vs. girls. It seemed like some of the guys without talent last year stuck around a long time while the girls with talent were being voted off left and right. I felt it was a popularity contest and could just picture a bunch of love-struck teen girls sitting at home voting for the guys. It just seems more fair to do things this way. I am more interested in an AI that can sing than one that everyone has a crush on. JMO.

I'm rooting for Scott. He's just so atypical but, what a voice! BTW, Fox finally has all the bio's up on their site. Yay!!!

The list is subject to change depending on what happens next week. For those of you who have been watching this show the past couple of seasons, how much back up do the contestents get next week? Is there a band and other singers to help them out? I'm assumeing they don't have to sing acapella.
And what about voting. Is it phone calls only or can you vote online? With only the phone, it must be hard to get through seeing how many people watch this show.

I'm looking forward to the 3 episodes next week!

I was disappointed that the hyper cheerleader made it through. She has GOT to go. She irritates the heck out of me, and I'm sure that I'm not alone. I actually don't think that Constantine is all that talented, but he is a cute boy. I'm open to hearing more of his voice, though...maybe he will win me over. Other than that, I think that they picked a VERY talented bunch. My favorites are:

1) Anwar - this guy is a star! I'm hoping that he wins it!
2) Travis - great singer, really easy on the eyes
3) "Fez"
4) Farm Girl
5) Vegas showgirl
6) Vonzell (I think that that's her name anyways)

I'm not absolutely crazy about Anthony yet, but he definitely has potential. I'd just like to hear him sing some different songs, rather than the same song over and over. I can't believe how obsessed I am getting with American Idol, LOL! I think that this season is the best one so far already

All that stress that they have to go through to find out if they made it through! I don't think that I could take that!

Michaela (sp) does seem a bit wired, maybe she will mellow out after awhile. I still like the "strange" guy with the really good voice, I think it's Scott. I felt bad for the woman that threw the fit when she got rejected. She said how she fails at men, jobs, etc. Maybe once the initial shock had worn off, she would feel better about things!

She can act like a teenager and still have some composure, though! She really annoyed me (and DH!) last night when she found out that she'd gotten put through. To me, she seems to be milking her 15 minutes like crazy. I agree that she's talented and has a lot of stage presence, but she needs to tone it down a bit when she's not on stage IMHO. Otherwise, even if she wins, she's going to be nothing more than another perky, hyper teen-queen. That won't help her if she wants a long-term career in music, KWIM?
