Official American Idol Season 4 Thread

Favorites:

Carrie, Bo, Nadia, Constantine, and Jessica and I'd like to see Carrie and Bo in the top 2 and maybe round it out, Nadia.

Don't like Nikko, Lindsay, Scott, Vonzell, Anthony, Mikalah, Anwar...of these I do enjoy Anwar from time to time though.

In my opinion, the problem with Lindsay is, she can sing about 3 notes. And she sings the heck out of those, but all the other notes are out of her range. Anybody else think this???

I'm not as big a fan of Bo as many, but did think he did a great job last night. Did anyone else think it was strange though that he carried the mike stand with him everywhere - including when he went down on the cat walk?

Scott just doesn't do it for me. He has no energy. I give him credit for walking down but think he should have gone in the audience more and not just in front of the judges.

Mikalah - why is she still here?

I really liked Constantine tonight and thought it was nice that he wasn't in black leather for a change.

I thought Anthony looked great as well but it wasn't his best performance.

Will be interesting to see what themes they come up with this season.

Poor aprilgail2! If Mykalah makes it through to next week, you'll never live it down! Oh well... we all make mistakes.

I do! The song got really good at the end where all she was singing was "Knock, knock, knock on wood" over and over...that is her range.

I didn't hink any of the judges were being too nice yesterday (with a few exceptions.) Randy was driving me nuts.

Ok yes I will. Like I said before, the botox lips, the b**b job, the big hair, she is everything that is WRONG in a youth trying to get in show biz. It's like I am waiting for 'MAMA Mikayla', to yell out from behind the stage and shout "sing out Mikayla, sing out', like Mama Rose in Gypsy. This girl is just terrible, awful. No more than a novelty who took a place away from another. Wasn't there another really great 16 yo girl who also made it to Hollywood and was sent home. I seem to remember there was. In lieu of this girl............hopefully she is done this week.

Loved Bo, Nadia, Constantine and Vonzell this week.

I have to agree. She doesn't have much of a range. I think she'll be one of the first to go, probably after Mykalah (unless Mykalah got enough votes from aprilgail2 this week to go on !).

I have to admit that I haven't read all 100 pages of this thread, but from what I have read, I feel like I'm in the minority here. I think Anwar is fantastic and should win hands down. I've liked him from the very beginning.

I was thinking the same thing about BO, I even said to my DH, why did he bring that entire stand with him?
He said maybe it is a rocker thing...lol

About Scott, he is one of my favorites....I was wondering last night if his stage presence is because of his lack of self confidence maybe partly because how his father treats him? (just my thoughts)

Red = the best performances this week

Jessica- DH and I thought she did better than they gave her credit for, but she's a lounge/bar singer, not an American Idol.
Anwar- This is a REALLY hard song to sing and he did it justice. I was surprised at his choice, but thought he did okay. I expect more from him though.
Mikayla- Man...this girl just stinks. Period. She's annoying and she's not as talented as she thinks she is. Any justice in the world and she's GONE!
Constantine- Wow! I'm not a Constantine fan, but thought that he did an AWESOME job. That was a great song choice for him. If he continues to perform like this, he will be a finalist and may win. I really liked Simon's comment about "Smoldering Idol"
Lindsay- Not memorable at all.
Anthony- I didn't think he was as bad as they did, but nothing special. (I like him too, so I was disappointed.)
Nadia- Wow! Now THAT was a performance!
Bo- Great song for him and a good job!
Vonzell- Another hard song to sing. I thought she was better than they did. She looked beautiful too, even though you guys are making fun of her dress.
Scott- OK. Not special or anything.
Carrie- Too high, too scream-y/screetchy. Just not good. I used to like her, but she's gotten off track somehow.
Nikko - At least he had some energy. Not great, but not terrible.

Lindsay. . .never have understood how she managed to be in the top 12?

Favorites last night: Anwar, Anthony, Nadia, Bo, Vonzell, & Scott (not in order of preference, although I'm really lovin' Anwar).

Gone tonight: Lindsay (but hopefully Mikalah).

Mikalah is just awful. I don't normally care for Constantine but loved him last night. I missed a few of the performances but my favorites are still Anwar & Carrie (although I didn't think Carrie did very well last night).

Think Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. All of the theatrics with the microphone stand. Pretty typical.

Too huge surprises for me this week, Constantine and Vonzell, who were my favorites of the night. I wasn't disappointed in my favorites, Anwar, Bo or Nadia, either, but have seen better performances from all 3. The others range from not memorable to downright awful. My prediction, Lindsey is gone this week.

I'm in the minority with you then. Anwar is certainly the most talented. Whether he uses his talent to his advantage is anyone's guess, but he's my pick for the favorite to win too.

I am here on this thread for the first time. I would never watch this show except that my teenage daughter likes company while she watches, so I have been following along with her. I think this show is fixed (as well as all reality TV). Could someone please tell me why the girl Mikayla is in the top 12? She cannot sing at all and when you think of all the good singers you know in real life, or that were already kicked off, it just isn't right. She is beyond awful. She is there because the producers want her there (for some stupid reason). It is embarrassing to listen to her.
I like Lindsay, did you hear her sing Bonnie Raitt during the auditions? She has the best voice but has picked bad songs. Oh well, guess thats all I have to say.

I will just say this... I don't think it is fixed. They have gone to GREAT lengths to make it pretty up and up since they got hit with "Racism" charges early on.

However, Americans don't always vote for talent. So singing is not always a requirement! (Constantine would be long gone if he didn't have bedroom eyes LOL!) Actually the last two week Mikalyla surprised me and sang great...Last night was bad however and she acted out again so that may be the end of her.

Anwar is the man
It's Anwar or nothing for me. I have watched the show from the very beginning. The first season I picked Kelly from the start, then Reuben and last year I was championing Fantasia when many couldn't stand her. I can honestly say that if Anwar is voted off, I'm not sure that there is any one else that I could pull for. I just think he is so superior to the rest of the competition. So no you are most definitely not alone!!

OK, well I will give you my prediction on who will win, based on my theory that it is fixed. Since it was a white woman, black man, black woman in the years past, they will pick a white man. And I believe it will be Bo or Constantine, because the producers will want to bring something 'different' to American Idol this time around. We will see.
