From TVGuide insider... and update on some of the previous contestants....
Jasmine Trias, 3rd Place
Age: 18 From: Mililani, Hawaii Before Idol: She was a high school senior singing at birthday parties and weddings. Life change: "Suddenly, everybody knows who you are. I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, this is so weird.' Because I was never very popular in high school — I always kept to myself." Up next: "I just did a McDonald's commercial for the Philippines. I had no idea American Idol was being watched in another country! I'm also working on a new album in L.A." Advice to hopefuls: "Stay close to your family. With all the hype, you really need people who'll keep you grounded."

La Toya London, 4th Place
Age: 26 From: Oakland, Calif. Before Idol: The wife and stepmom was working at Ralph's grocery store and going to music school in Hollywood. Life change: "I quit my job and school because the show and music became a full-time thing. Truly, it was everything that I'd ever wanted." Up next: "I've been signed to Peak Records, and my main focus is on my album. It's a stressful process because you've got one shot to show what you can do." Advice to hopefuls: "Always aim to win, but don't let that consume you. There is life after Idol."

George Huff, 5th Place
Age: 24 From: New Orleans Before Idol: He was getting a degree in music education and working as a part-time omelet chef. Life change: "Once the show started airing, I was getting calls from people I hadn't heard from in 10 years. It was all pretty darn exciting." Up next: "I did a Christmas EP and now I'm working on an LP. America is really going to hear what I can do vocally." Advice to hopefuls: "They may have heard this before, but it's true: You've got to be yourself and never give up, no matter what."

John Stevens, 6th Place
Age: 17 From: East Amherst, N.Y. Before Idol: The redheaded crooner played Fagin in his high school's production of Oliver! Life Change: "It was the greatest experience of my life. I got to meet the Sinatra family. Tina Sinatra sent me a painting of Frank that's now hanging in my room. I really love it." Up Next: "I've got a record deal with Maverick, and my CD will be out in April. It's a collection of standards, with a few modern pop songs. I hope the public likes it." Advice to Hopefuls: "Get plenty of sleep, have fun and don't take Simon too seriously."

Jennifer Hudson, 7th Place
Age: 23 From: Chicago Before Idol: She was performing on a Disney cruise ship. Life Change: "I'm constantly on the go. Being on TV is strange. My friends are always surprised by how many people know me." Up Next: "I'm writing music for an album. I'm working with one of Destiny's Child's producers. We are shopping it around. It's old school... kind of sounds like Shirley Murdock." Advice to Hopefuls: "When you come off the show, never settle. Take your time and make sure what you do is just right. Good things come to those who wait."

Jon Peter Lewis, 8th Place
Age: 25 From: Rexburg, Idaho Before Idol: He did Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in summer stock. Life Change: "Well, I was dead broke before, and I'm glad that changed." [Lewis was paid for the Idol tour and CD.] Up Next: "I'm working on a solo project. I'd say it's kind of a singer-songwriter thing with acoustic guitar." [Lewis does not have a record contract.] Advice to Hopefuls: "No matter if you win or lose American Idol, you can turn it into something for yourself, so always keep in mind what image you want to present."

Where are these men finding these songs??? And so far I am going for Anwar and no one else.

This is suppose to be the best group of men yet????

From a catalogue of songs that AI has permission to use---maybe it'st the catalogue that's the problem :rotfl:.

OK, I LOVED Nikko - but then again, "Let's Get It On" is just such a "sweaty" song (I'm using Paula for inspiration) - get a good voice and that song, and oh boy, call the fire truck. :goodvibes :firefight

Anthony got great reviews from the judges, but I thought it was a tad dull.

I like Federov. Does anyone else notice an indention in his neck? Looks like he's had a tracheotomy at some point.

If that is miracle boy--then yes he did...he had one as a baby or very very young boy. It was doubtful he would ever speak...let alone sing well enough to be a contendor on American Idol.

Okay--I just realized I'm answering as if I know...he did have some issue when he was young in that area..I yield to the AI experts regarding this.

Okay--Bo just blew me away...my thoughts while watching...."he's performing like a star".

Without a doubt. I think Bo was born with a microphone in his hand. :rockband: I'm all giddy after his performance. What a way to end the show. :bounce:

I think David Brown and Joseph will be gone this week. I loved Bo!!!!

Yep. You called it.

But for me, David and Joseph are STILL better than most of the guys last season. ;)

Check Scott out---getting a style makeover there..and on his blurb clip--his eyes/face look like they are less sunken in and less of that bee sting in the face appearance. Is it just me? I think he looks less scary looky than the past (not that I thought that--but based on what others have said). I hope he keeps it up!

Is it just me or was Scott singing with his eyes closed the whole time? I think he's hiding behind those shades :smooth:

And what was up with Simon tonight??? Someone must have slipped some pixie dust in his morning coffee cause he was just too darn nice!

Scott---wow, stylist must have really worked on his image--big improvement---nice voice too

Nikko--great rendition of 'Lets Get It On'--wow, very smoldering

Anwar--solid performance----just seems like a nice guy

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bo--what an unbelievable performance----from the gut, great vocals, the look--I think a rocker may take it this year

Here's my thoughts on this week:

I like Constantine. I like the song he did. I did not like him singing the song. It was not a good choice for him. I understand why he did it, but it wasn't a good choice.

Anthony - I thought he did a good job. He broke out of his box a little, and he's got a strong voice.

Anwar - what can I say - he's great!

David - I don't think he's going to survive this round.

Scott - wow, what a change! He didn't even look like an axe murderer tonight! And I'd swear that he was actually smiling!

ETA: Oh yeah, almost forgot about Simon! What did they put in his coffee this morning, and where can I get some?!
But what's the deal with all the Stevie Wonder stuff & Lionel Ritchie stuff? Did they team up and sponsor the show this year? Actually maybe this was the Ritchie song and it just seems like there's been a lot of it.

Okay....I've been a Constantine fan since the auditions, but Bo just blew him out of the water. LOVED LOVED LOVED Bo and Anthony tonight.

I think it's buh bye to Joe and Constantine.

He had a tough week judging on the DISBoards...someone must have sprinkled some PD on him. :teeth:

I 100% agree with you!!!

My votes tonight will be going to my two standby favorites, Scott and Bo, but also Travis, who I never really paid much attention to before. Tonight, though, he blew me away! I really enjoyed his dancing, he is so charismatic and fun to watch. Helps that I really like that song too. I kind of hope Anthony stays in even though i don't LOVE him, i am really enjoying his song choices. that doesn't always help though....i loved the song constantine sang tonight....but i am still no fan of him

Nope. Constantine will hang in a while longer. I'm telling you, he's got the girlie votes all sewn up. When he gets booted off AI, he'll be the next new detective on CSI. You watch. ;)

Okay--someone post the numbers/contestant order for me...I don't know why I always space out at the end and don't get those #'s etched in my brain.

Travis reminds me of Malcolm on The Young and the Restless. What a sweet smile.
