Well I would think most assault charges are plead down to something more minor. And it's very common for female victims of abuse to later deny what happened. I agree with you, I wasn't there so I can't judge. The legal system and courts are in place to judge...and he was found guilty.

Maybe we all just have different standards. For me, it's unacceptable, intolerable, unforgivable for any man to throw something heavy at me or my child. End of story.

Nobody is saying that any of this is acceptable. If you go back and read the posts, all any of us were saying was that we didn't get the vibe that he was an abuser as Totalia said all women do. Would I vote for him? No. But will I spread it around that he is an abuser when I do not know that? No.

Speak for yourself, because even though I'm not a fan of Scott, I don't see what you do. And obviously neither do a lot of other people because he's still in the competition. (although probably not for long). He might lack the looks and personality of a star, but he can sing, and that's more talent than I (and maybe even you) will ever have! ;)
First of all, it's not about the looks and it's not about the past at this point. That's all been hashed to death. To me, he seems like the most self-centered person up there. A decent singer with a baaaaad attitude. His actions on Wed. nite spoke louder than any of his performances. To walk out of the bottom 3 back to safety without any acknowledgement, even so much as a nod to the 2 others left up there as he whooped it up himself was reprehensible. That's your American Idol? Sorry, but I guess I just want a little more than that. And don't tell me about his hardluck past. Who cares? All I know is that he has a total lack of empathy towards others as further evidenced by his obnoxious remarks to his "fans" on Tues. nite. Totally classless.

Well I wasn't joking. It is totalially(pun intended) absurd that someone can "feel threatened or scared" because of someone on tv. Sorry but that is ridiculous!

Are you referring to this?

totalia said:
Thats because he gives off this whole feeling of "I'm abusive" that women can see in him. He scares me too. I'd hate to be a woman involved in a relationship with him. It has nothing to do with the police report either btw. I felt this way the second I saw him. He's one of those people that I would stay far far away from.

What I think is ridiculous is calling another Dis'er absurd because he/she would be scared to be in a relationship with someone seen on TV who was convicted of assault. You do realize he's not an actor? Neither are the people profiled on America's Most Wanted, nor the nightly news, nor documentaries, nor reality TV shows. And a lot of these people SCARE me! Even though they are on TV. Gasp...go ahead and call me ridiculous too.

What I don't get is that earlier today you said:

Doesn't seem to be that way on this thread. Everyone can pick on Scott and call his fans tone deaf or pity voting. When someone makes a comment about one of the groupies favorites heaven forbid! So I guess it isn't to each his own. Just another wonderful day on the DIS.

So it's ok to get all in a huff when others do it to but if anyone tries to say something negative Scott then you guys are all over us! :confused3

We're all entitled to our opinions, why can't we share them without being belittled?

Anyway, I think he's a bad singer, he's been in the bottom 3 consistently, he'll be eliminated shortly and maybe that will put an end to all the "ridiculousness" on this subject.

I feel threatened by him, too.

not that I'll ever meet him. but he's got a domestic violence record and he's got an attidute on television that I find very disconcerting. if his behavior is condoned and he's turned into some sort of idol, it sends a message that we acceptand glorify that type of behavior.

and I (or my daughters) might run into someone who emulates Scott's behavior.

you're way off base to laugh at someone who feels threatened by Scott.

I'll be very happy when he's voted off the show. and not just because he's a lousy singer.

"Lovable geeky singer, Jim Verraros, from the first season of 'American Idol' is finally releasing his debut album. He's taken on a much sexier, metrosexual look."

Oh my, what a change for the BETTER!!!! The chin is definitely the same, but that is absolutely unbelievable! I wouldn't call his look "metrosexual", but young pop.

I don't think that Scott is a monster, at least one arrest doesn't make him so in my eyes. And a cell phone is not a heavy item!

I don't care for his attitude though and his singing is only average in my opinion. I agree that he shouldn't be penalized for one mistake but other things convince me that it's time for him to go home now. And that's just my opinion and no better than anyone elses!

maybe something more simplier..........scott's groupies........hahahahahaha

I think I'm a bit old to be a "groupie"

Well I completely agree with you. And for those that don't feel it maybe it just means some women are more intuitive than others. That and the fact that his interpersonal skills during the auditions were either deplorable or non-existent.

ETA: All this support (and support group) for an abuser is really strange....sorry ladies but by the comments I'm reading, you're all reminding me of the crazy women who are attracted to inmates... :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

first of all we are just saying we like his singing...I have no comment on his personal life...like I said, if he gets voted off it doesn't really affect me at all. It's a TV show, not real life for me. I'm certainly not crazy and I think I can make little jokes about a few of us needing a support group because we like someone's singing. Especially here where so many take joy in stating that people that like his singing are tone deaf.

Naaahhh, you can be a groupie at any age IMO. I'll be glad to be one of Bo's groupies or a mother figure or whatever he might need. :teeth:

If you go way back to the original post on this subject...way back...I said I liked his singing but wouldn't vote for him anymore because of this and I haven't. I still like his voice, but even if it was a minor incident I said a real man walks away (and gets his anger under control) I still feel that way. It didn't change how I feel about his voice though. BUT I refuse to jump all over someone that is on a reality TV show and has no connection to me personally. My comment on his not sending off vibes still stands. I am not scared just looking at him, he doesn't creep me out (but he gives my oldest DD the willies) I think his attitude stinks sometimes, but I also feel it's a defense mechanism. I also though all the Scott stuff was over..but because he was kept on another week some people here tend to start really trashing him and his supporters again...that's what got us all going and making some funny comments, which were tongue in cheek by the way.

never too old to be a groupie.............i threw that in to lighten up the way this thread has headed. the thread was started out to discuss the contestants and share the ooo's and ahh's of the singers. remember william huang? ( she bang) ..........well, that one got a lot of miles from us.

i like reading about other people's opinions as long as it is not an attack on posters. it would be nice if our conversations could be more pleasant and we could share our thoughts.
no one needs to be insulted or feel threatened here. it's a tv show that we all share a love with.
i know this phrase has been beaten into the ground but i will say it again.
we all are rooting for different singers. we all have a personal preference.
it is okay to exchange our opinions but we need to be more respectful of others. no one wants to be critized or verbally attacked because they expressed the way they feel.

i will continue to read the postings of this thread. i look forwards to what damo has to say on the rumors of song themes before the night of performance.
i will no longer add my thoughts to this group though.
i am tired of the negativity that has constantly been expressed.

i am sure i will run across many of you at different points in the future on the disboards. i would like to be able to post without conflicts on different threads.
i like all of you and want to keep it that way.
i'll keep on reading but stay in an invisible mode.

And I guess it is okay for someone to say that anyone that liked Scott reminded them of women that like prison inmates. Talk about classless and nasty.

Oh wait. That was you that said that. How pathetic.

You've just called me classless, nasty and pathetic. :earseek: Enough said.

I completely agree with you. I had stopped posting to this thread a few weeks ago because of all the negativity and I just dropped back in today to find an all out attack on Totalia's post. I don't know what's up with this thread because the other TV show threads don't disrespect and attack each other like this.

So to get this thread back to the important stuff.....song rumours for next week! :teeth:

disco...there are so many good ones...and so many bad ones!

I'd like to see Anwar do something up tempo for a change...how "Brick House" or "Superfreak"?

I can see Anthony doing the BeeGees and white suiting it!

If it is disco too bad..because Nadia would have done great singing Donna Summers.

See, I don't consider Superfreak disco. To me that is pop 80's music. Scary but true, I have an 8 track around here dated 82 and it has superfreak on it.. with most of the other artist being new wave-ish. (Oingo Boingo, Haircut 100, Split Enz)

I would consider Commodores disco, but not Rick James.

Personally, I don't think it will be disco since they don't seem to be using that type of theme BUT if it is here I think Bo could sing Born to be Alive or Get Down Tonight. Vonzell could sing If I Can't have you. Constantine should do Macho Man or Love to love ya Baby. Anthony could sing That's the Way (I like it). Scott could do More than a Woman and Anwar could do Please Don't Go.

I wonder if they're allowed to take a classic disco song but sing it in a different genre. I'd love to see Bo take a song like "Stayin Alive" from the BeeGees and just rock it out.

I think that Bo just needs to do something from a baritone singer and he can sing anything. I would imagine that some Barry White would be considered disco. Disco is actually quite a broad genre and difficult to pinpoint. Didn't Fantasia sing some Heroes song last year and Simon questioned that it was disco?
