My problem with him is not his actual singing, I think he has an o.k. voice, although certainly not of the caliber of some of the other contestants. My problem with him is not that he looks like a big mean Teletubby. Its that when he sings, he shows ZERO emotion, which I think is critical for a singer. Not only does a good singer have to sing well, but they have to know how to interpret lyrics to make the audience feel something.....when Scott sings, I feel nothing. He looks exactly like he did when he "posed" for his mug shot, empty. And to beat Nadia, who had the WHOLE package (but too bad for her she picked songs that MEANT something to her.....), well, thats just a travesty, imo.........

Well, I'm certainly no teenybopper either and I didn't know about the hand gesture. I don't think of Scott doing it as a rock and roll thing because to me he is so totally not rock and roll! But I guess him using it makes sense since he seems to think he is.

Some are saying they vote strictly on voice. I think it's really a little more than that, my favorites are based on performance. That would encompass the whole package- appearance, attitude, voice, charisma, versatility. Lots of factors play into what makes a good and popular performer, not just voice. If they're not likable and entertaining to watch, how successful will they really be?

The guys who sang for Milli Vanilli had the voices... they just didn't have the performer package like Rob and Fab did (and yes, it's sad that I know their names). Looks like in that situation a "good voice" wasn't enough to make it in the entertainment industry.... Kinda shows how much the whole package really matters....

Scott didn't necessarily get more votes than Bo. Ryan just told him he was safe. No mention was made of who got more votes than whom.

I really think it should be one vote per phone number. I think it would be a lot fairer IMHO.

I'm new to this thread but after last night I just can't keep quiet!

I'm SO angry. Believe me I'm no Nadia fan but Scott STAYED and she left. That is SO wrong. Domestice violence issue aside because I didn't think he should have been kicked off for that. He just doesn't have "IT." I know people here say they like his voice and they are voting on voice only. Yes it's a singing competition but doesn't the winner have to have the whole package to be successful in the real world? Look at Ruben, he really hasn't been all that successful. Kelly Clarkson is the only one who's really become a superstar. I'd say Clay is more comercially successful than Ruben. Even Kinberly Locke had a hit song, it was a bad song but it was more a hit than anything by Ruben, Fantasia and Diana.

Scott is boring. He's an arrogant thug who does the same bland stuff week after week. Was he kidding about "rocking?" He just seems really immature and insecure which he masks with his attitude.

As for Bo. I voted for him because I thought he needed the votes and I'm glad I did. He seems a little bored with the whole competition. I will say that I didn't have a problem voting for him. My call went through every time. All I got was busy signals when I tried voting for Carrie and Constintine.

Anway I'm discusted that people keep voting for Scott. I just wonder if the same people will shell out the cash for his album.

I'm shocked so many people like Scott's voice. He is off key and has a weak voice, IMHO. Plus his attitude STINKS. He insuled everyone and people still vote for him.

Oh well. Nadia gone.. she was the most fun to watch. I now hope Scott wins and shows what a farce the voting system is. They really need to limit it to 1 vote per phone #. But that won't happen since they seem to like saying how many votes they got.. as if that means the show is more popular because they had 5 times the number of votes than viewers.

I agree. I think the producers do manipulate the viewers. That's why they don't release the numbers. I'm confident Bo got more votes than Scott (even though Bo's line was super easy to get through on) but sending Scott back was dramatic and obviously got people fired up.

I normally don't say things like "how can someone vote for this particular person?" but in Scott's case I can make an exception. Even if he was the best singer in the competition (which he definitely isn't), he is such a horrible man. It makes me sick to see him on the show every week. How could anyone possibly support him? It just amazes me that there are people out there that would like to see such a rude and abusive man as an American IDOL (key word being Idol!). Just what is this world coming to?

That being said, I was very angry about last night's bottom 3. There is no way that Nadia and Bo had less votes than Scott. They both have such big fan bases. When it came down to Nadia and Bo, I was glad it was Bo that stayed because I liked him better out of the two. But there is no reason that it should have been Nadia tonight! She seemed like such a nice girl and she was a very good singer, and she could have easily been one of the top 2 (just like I think everyone else in the top 8 besides Scott could easily make it there, since the remaining contestants are all very good).

As soon as Ryan announced that Scott was safe, my mother and I were so mad and starting cursing at the TV. The last time we cursed at American Idol was when Clay lost to Ruben, so obviously we were really mad. My mother was about ready to give up on the show. It also makes her very angry that there are people out there who vote for him. I guess they must let all his jail friends watch the show and call up.

Seriously, I don't see the appeal at all. If you want to listen to someone singing off key, why not just go to a local karaoke bar ? That'd save the wear and tear on the rest of the nation's mute buttons.

My hearing is fine. I do question the hearing of those that like Constantine though. He is most definitely karaoke or possibly cruise ship talent.

I think it's pointless to keep insulting other voters. Neither Scott or Constantine are 'only' karaoke talent, it's an insult to suggest that they are. The question IMO is who best represents the American Idol in talent, attitude and overall package.

The only people I have muted this year are Constantine and Fantasia the night she sang.
