Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Ill actually have to register in the Magic Kingdom! Haha

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about running for charity. I would love to do so, especially if I can run for Give Kids the World. I couldn't find info about specific charities, though. Do you know which charities the race works with?

Don't stress at all! You have plenty of time to train if you do decide to do the half. If not, the 5K and 10K are a lot of fun too! Or you can just be a total but like some of us and do all three! lol

LOL This was my personal daily devotional message on FB today:

You have immeasurable potential. Just as a tiny seed can become a giant redwood tree, you have only scratched the surface of your potential. You have the creator of the universe on your team and you've been given the ball, so run with it. Run knowing that you have immeasurable potential.

Should I take that as my sign? :teeth:

I so want to run the GSC but, the cost might be a bit prohibitive. We'll see what happens by Registration day. If not, a glass slipper less princess I shall be. Next year is already busy for me... Disney Marathon (first time), Miami Half Marathon and possibly the Princess half. SOOO EXCITED!!! :) First, I have the Tower of Terror to get to! :cool1:

I meant a total "NUT." Geez. That's what happens when I post on my phone.

And yes, I would take that as a sign. lol

I've been called worse! LOL

It was definitely quite relevant to what's on my mind anyway.

Can someone post where to go to sign up early with ap and DVC? I see on the website that early sign up is available, but will thee be a link or a code or something?

There will be a link at noon on wed. It doesn't show up until then.

I ran for Give Kids the World last year. When I signed up, they had a link on their website that you went through. However, you had to reach the minimum fundraising goal ($3000) before you could actually register for the race. I'm not sure how it would work if you register yourself for the race and then decide to join the GKTW team at a later date. I checked their website and there is nothing there pertaining to Princess or the January marathon weekend yet.

On a side note, as a part of the GKTW team, we were given the opportunity to volunteer and the Village. This marked my third time volunteering there, and believe me, you will never forget it!

I received official word from runDisney on this, since I purchased an AP, but won't be down in FL to activate it until October. The Exchange Certificates are linked to MDE account, but I am unable to access the AP links page.
RunDisney response is, "Per Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Terms and Conditions, the Annual Pass must be active to receive the benefit of participating in early registration for select runDisney events. we do apologize for any disappointment this may cause." :rolleyes2 Bummer. I am actually out of the country July 15 (someplace with no internet!), so I will be depending on a friend to register me July 15. :scared:

I should have known to check here first. I just did an online "chat" with a Disney CM regarding purchasing the AP certificate and using the information to register even though the AP would not have been activated. She said that was no problem. I would be able to register. Now, I find out that isn't so! Daughter is in DVC but Run Disney tells her she can only register people who reside at her address. So, she can register herself but not me. We are worried that she will get in and I won't. I guess I will have to sit in front of the computer on July 15 and hope for the best!

Thank you. I "want" to run the half, but I'm thinking it would be much safer to sign up for the 5k and 10k, and wait to do the half in 2016. 10 days to make a decision! Not stressed at all here. :rolleyes1

Definitely sign up for the 5k... it's a lot of fun. Last year my sister had zero training and I got her from start to finish, so it's totally doable cold. The 10k is doable with some training. This year I'm signing up for the 5k and 10k. With my goal for the following year to do the Glass Slipper challenge. I was/am like you... starting out a couch potato and working my way up to totally fit. Love that Disney 'gets' this and is so supportive... so good luck!

If anyone is looking for recaps to get excited about registration (or to talk yourself out of it ! Lol) here's a link ...

I read a bunch of these over the weekend, they mostly just scared me :( Can you point me in the direction of any 'rah rah that was the most amazing day of my life' recaps??? :cheer2:

After running 5k around my neighbourhood yesterday I'm starting to wonder what I've gotten myself into (with the half)!

The 5K was open until 1 week before the race last year! But that's NOT always the case- so just watch the numbers. I don't think you HAVE to sign up for that race ASAP but weirder things have happened.

I posted something for the new folks- or folks debating on signing up. It's the good, bad and ugly of the PHM.

I'm definitely signing up, so maybe I shouldn't read that post :faint:

You alreayd know I love this, but I'll paste it here, too: LOVE. IT. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Not true at all - she can register anyone through that link. All it is is a link to registration and it doesn't carry any personal info. You're good!

I don't if I'd go so far as to say the best day of my life, lol, but I had a GREAT time this year! My PHM experience was rough, but only because I was exhausted after 3 days of racing, and wore new shoes. I thought the race itself was fine.

Race Recap: 2014 runDisney Enchanted 10K! And other Princess stuff...
Race Recap 3: 2014 runDisney Princess Half-Marathon - final leg of my Princess Triple Crown!
Princess Half weekend - final thoughts and TIPS to run Disney!

Hope that helps! :goodvibes The reality is that this can be a very fun race for those of us looking to go out, challenge ourselves a bit, and have a good time. It's generally not so magical for folks who want to raceracerace and only care about time. I used to be a time-carer, but have come to love things that make Disney races so different, and to really enjoy those element, I have to forget about time and roll with what comes my way.

Listen to V! Exactly!!!

It's the best of times... As long as you have the right mentality. ;)

If you are looking to hardcore race than this *might* not be the race for you. WDW half might be a better option for example.

Thanks, I feel better already! For me I think it may be my only Half ever, so I am going to go into it with a good attitude. I think my time should be easily sub-3hrs, but I really don't have any particular time goals, and don't really care as long as I finish.

Hi everybody!! It's been awhile since I posted and I thought I wasn't doing any races for PHM weekend. Well, I decided to do the 10K again. I enjoyed it this year and I like the distance. So RunD, please hold me by my ankles and shake the $$$ from me to register!!! No FP+ needed!!! LOL!! It's so nice to see new peeps and old friends on this thread!! Here we go again!!

There is still no link at the DVC member website, but there is one on the Passholder site. I hope DVC gets their act together soon. I find it interesting that they still have the links for Star Wars, the January races, and Wine and Dine even though those races are no longer available. :confused3

In preparation for early sign up on Wed I was looking at some trip reports and videos from pasts GSC. My daughter (19) started to watch and said I want to do that. :thumbsup2 Now the problem is she has not done much of anything since the end of senior year soccer season 2 months ago. I have been trying to get her to run/walk with me but she quits after 1/2 a mile. I finally got her to go 2 miles on Sunday but she complained most of the time (her knee hurts, her side hurts, she is sweating). (Grrr, shut up and run) Ok sweetie we can walk a little. Anyway I know she is not up to the GSC but do you think it is reasonable I can prepare her for a 10K :confused3. The only other option is for me to sign us both up for the 5K but I really don't have the extra money (and maybe stamina for 3 days of running). What does everyone think?
:cheer2:
