Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Any opinions about the best Disney resort to stay at for this event? I am a DVC member so I can stay just about anywhere. My first thought was the Boardwalk area but somewhere else I read that a monorail resort is almost easier for transportation. I actually have already made a reservation at Bay Lake Tower so I'm just trying whether to decide to keep it or switch it.

We stayed at contemp this year. The monorail was lovely in the morning. I took the bus back because I wasn't up to walking back to monorail station. Both trips were super easy.

I've also stayed at poly and csr and all stars sports for the race. Contemp was by far easiest option. All stars was a nightmare with long lines coming and going.

If you do Epcot resorts you still need to take bus to the race but can walk through Epcot to return if you have tickets

i stayed at BWV and loved it. Booked there again this year. We traveled with people last year who stayed at BLT and they loved it. I'd do a monorail resort or Boardwalk area resorts. FYI the bus also picks up at Swan and Dolphin.

Is it possible to drive from the BW, BC, YC, S/D area and park over in the Epcot parking lot for the 10k? This is our first WDW 10k, so it's going to a new experience. It looks like last year the 10k started in the Epcot parking lot, but I wasn't able to see if there were places for runners to park. My friends and I will be renting a car for our stay & would prefer to drive ourselves rather than rely on the buses.

Just out of curiosity, is the new monorail schedule going to affect race transportation or will then run it extra hours? I just wondered about that when they said it was all going to be automated. I can't afford a monorail resort myself!

In my experience it is great staying anywhere near Epcot. You get there by bus in no time!

I think the monorail opened at 5 on race day so it was available for Chear squads -- cutting close for racers.

Monorail opened at 3:00 am on race day for PHM 2014. I was on it at 3:30 day of PHM and 10k, 4 am for the 5k. I believe the official recommendation is to be on by 4:00 for the 10k and half. I absolutely loved using the monrail. Not sure I'm loving the bus idea this year, but BWV was the DVC home resort we had points available to use. May try to change it at 7 months when we can book with non home resort points.

I took the bus to - no problem - and walked back through Epcot afterward. It was great!

A bunch of registering questions ahead:

Does anyone remember how quickly things sold out last year? I just realized I will be dropping my kids off at day camp when registration opens, and won't be in front of my computer for 30 minutes after it opens. I'm trying to get into the 1/2.

Or, conversely, is it possible to register on my smart phone? I wonder how active does on mobile. Can you preset your credit card info etc in your account.

Oh, and one more active question, if I'm trying to register my husband as well, can I do it all at one time under my account, or do I need a separate one for him?

thanks! And Happy 4th!

It was pretty fast last year but mostly the gsc. The recent trend is faster and faster sell outs but only registering for the half might help.

You can do it on the phone. I have before. It's just slower.

You can use same active acct for both of you

Good luck !

Joining in and subscribing. This will be my first half ever and an item off the bucket list!

Hi everyone, I'm also new here. I've been stalking this thread for several weeks and have read all the way through it. I would LOVE to do the Princess weekend next Spring, but I just started walking. Like from the couch to walking! I am so out of shape. :sad2: Is it realistic to think that I could run a half marathon by next February? :confused3

I've looked at lots of training plans and think I'm going to try Jeff Galloway's plan for running/walking.

There's a Diva Dash 5k in 3 weeks here and I think I'm going to sign up for that, and then a Glow Run 5k in August. I can't find any 10k's in my area for later this fall though. So, I probably be stuck in the back even if I could go/do it.

My other problem is that I have my first trip in 8 years this December, and then another one in May (splitting them up into Mother/son trips, one with my youngest and one with my oldest). So, I don't know if there would be any way possible for me to squeeze in another one, but I'm dreaming!

Congratulations on making a choice for better health! I ran my first RunDisney race in January and my next is scheduled for the end of August.

I ran the Tinkerbell 10k and have no plans to run a half until 2016 at the soonest. I want exercise to be part of the rest of my life, so I'm not in any hurry.

Also, don't fret about being in the "back". It's a great fun to run through familiar places. Very few people are swept for not keeping the pace. -- Suzanne

Bekkiz your active account CAN be accessed through your mobile device( but may be slower as someone else pointed out) and it will also save your credit card information if you have ever signed up for another race with the account.

I signed up using my iPhone. I was out of town and my iPad kept loosing connectivity. It went fast but not for at least 1 1/2 hours. I don't save cc info anywhere but you can see to enter it in. Just pull off the road and take a break to enter. I'll be doing the same. I've got to be away from my house this year too. :). Hope it works for both of us.

Thank you. I "want" to run the half, but I'm thinking it would be much safer to sign up for the 5k and 10k, and wait to do the half in 2016. 10 days to make a decision! Not stressed at all here. :rolleyes1

Don't stress at all! You have plenty of time to train if you do decide to do the half. If not, the 5K and 10K are a lot of fun too! Or you can just be a total nut like some of us and do all three! lol

Anyone know what time on 15th registration opens up? Is it 12am Eastern? Very much looking forward to booking myself and my wife into the 10k, lots of sentimental meaning to this upcoming run and I would be devastated if I would not be able to do it....

Thanks!!
