Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Course maps!!! I'm pretty clueless about layout at the parks, so I have no idea if that's good or bad or whatever, but it's progress, right??? Come on waivers!!!!!

What characters do you usually see for the 10k and 1/2?

From trip reports that I've viewed for last few years there are mostly Peter Pan and Fairy type characters. Also pirate actors and it seemed some of the Fab 5 (mostly at the finish line.) I have no idea about this year though. Don't think we'll know until we are running it.

Do you see Wendy and Hook?

Ah, I didn't notice that. :( I can't make a comparison since I didn't do the half last year...sort of cool how we go to DL Park first, then DCA and then back into DL. 10K course looks pretty awesome...DL 10K courses are legit.

I'm REALLY curious to see the 5K course and whether it still starts on Main Street USA...

Must be because of the Star Wars construction, right? NOTE: I have no idea how good/accurate of a map this is:

Just stop for a bunch of pics leading up to the castle - that's what I do! :teeth:
That map is close but not exact.

Thank you @roxymama for posting the maybe, possible, mostly right, whatever course maps! Super fun to wish and dream right now! I'm the 10k course so of course right now I'm LOVING!!! the map! Hope it ends up being something close!! Just what we all needed right now to whet our running appetites! You rock!

It's been a few years since I've done Tink. When did they move the finish line out of the parking lot next to Paradise Pier to match up with all of the other Disneyland races?

The courses look amazing - getting rid of the overpasses will definitely help with bottlenecks into the park. And i LOVE that you finish the race going back through the backside of California Adventure towards the Disneyland Hotel.

I am feeling confident that I can finally break that 2:45 barrier with this race. Yessssssss.

Side note: I think the maps show the sag wagon stops to pull people off the course?

OK, so weird random question....how do you guys look so good and fresh when I see people's race photos like at the castle, etc. There are cute poses and no one looks sweaty and gross. Are you all taking a minute to wipe your face or freshen up quick? This race I want cute pictures! Maybe I just can't tell since most of the pictures are taken full or half body (no close ups). And after the race when you go to the parks with your medals, are you wearing anything special? The shirt that you got with registration that says 10k, etc? Something else? I took a selfie this weekend after running the weekend long run, and about peed my pants laughing how worked over I looked; not a winner look!

Anyone flying out of the Orlando airport? This is my first time flying and I'm having nightmares about it.
I have flown in and out of Orlando many times for WDW visits. The only problems I have encountered were getting through security. Sometimes I have breezed through with no problems. Other time it has been extremely slow. Only advice I have it allow plenty of time to get through.

I have a question! Can you pick up race bib before race on race day?
Officially, no. Unofficially - they usually have race-day packet pick-up. I have heard it's a little difficult to find at DLR races. This is something that can go away at any time, so I wouldn't count on it being available. And you'd need to go to the expo later to get your race shirt.

Whoa...you're right! :scratchin I've never seen that before!

That makes me think that somehow whoever got these maps got them from a runDisney staffer? Sort of makes more sense as to why they didn't want them to be shared.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I take my time at Disney races and stop a LOT for pictures...so I don't get as red/sweaty as I would at a non-Disney race. :teeth:

I'll likely be wearing my participant shirts after the races with my medal in the parks! And maybe some fun Minnie Mouse ears. :)

I always see the race photographers on course a little too late and they catch me going from "serious" face into "fake smile" face and the in-between is often not so pretty. Or I go to do something "creative" with my hands like up in the air or thumbs up and they catch me at the wrong time and so I'll have a half smile while blinking while my hands are only halfway up. I dunno...I'm hoping my posed character pics turn out great.
I have seen in recaps where sometimes they hand out tissues before going into the castle so that should help with the sweat/tears/snot/tears/and tears :)

:)

Good catch @courtneybeth I didn't even notice that. SAG is a weird word and I don't much like it. I'd much prefer "road closure wagon." Does anyone know what SAG stands for or is it just the verb, like literal sagging?

I hope rundisney doesn't come find me and take away my disney-card for posting top secret maps. I wonder if that was for the hired volunteers??? There are areas on the map that have very "corporate disney" type names for backstage areas. Oh well...the original person posted in a GIANT facebook group so that helps me sleep at night.

Now where's my waiver? :surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::surfweb:

SAG = Support And Gear (apparently)

And yeah, the person who originally posted those maps probably shouldn't have. Oh well!!

With Dark Side stuff starting up on Thursday, I think if we don't see waivers today or tomorrow, we won't be seeing them until next week at the earliest. :confused3 Prove me wrong, runDisney!! :wave2:

Ditto on my frequent stops, so I'm also not as red and sweaty as I might be otherwise. BUT, the shots are also usually far enough away, that you can't see my redness and sweat well, because if it's hot enough, I'm definitely going to be sweaty!

We also usually wear the participant shirts, but this year, I'm thinking to wear a collared shirt. The ribbon on the medal really bugs my neck a lot of the time and I end up not wanting to wear the medal for long.
