With quoted rack rate it is cheaper. Five adult dining plan vs room rate. The 2 day tickets don't really affect it because I will spend that money sooner or later anyway. I just have to run the numbers when it actually drops.

Well okay... I love people who can work some numbers!

I've only looked for dates from end of November to third week in December. But, in those times POR comes up a lot. I've only found 1 check in date that has CSR open (looking for 9 nights.) And not one for CBR. Not just standard, like it says "sold out for those dates." I've almost given up on a mod. lol.
I highly doubt they are all booked up. Nothing was showing at any of the mods for my dates expect for the higher priced rooms. It was really picked over. Yet almost every third party website I went to (Orbitz, Expedia, Undercover Tourist) had Standard rooms at every moderate. I don't think the Disney website is an accurate reflection. I think rooms might be held back for promos, people are booking reservations they don't intend to keep, resellers have rooms.. there's quite a few factors. If it's not a hugely busy time period, there will be something.

We just booked mid December for CBR standard less than a week ago. It was through our TA but it wasn't through any of their promotions. I believe he just booked straight from Disney, but I dunno.

Dates I was seeing were pretty much in September

If there is a benefit to using the Disney Visa card, do you have to book the entire reservation using the card? I don't have one so already booked a reservation using a different card. But my mom does have one and would be willing to let me use it and pay her back if I can get FD from it.

The only possible benefit may be extra dates available. Last year, Disney Visa card holders had an extra week in August for which FD was available that general public could not book.

Yes, if you have a modify button you'll click that then look for the FD promo. I was able to modify my reservation and my parents reservation several times last year that way. This year I don't have a modify button so I'm just going to out another $200 deposit down and make a new reservation and then cancel.
Ok then I have another question for ya!!
The day FD drops, if I click modify then search for the promo... if it's not available for what I have booked now do I then get to choose another room type? Because at that point I need 3 rooms (I have a 2 bedroom now). Will I need to cancel my reservation and book another 3 separate reservations at that point?
Do I have to cancel my original one first, or will Disney let me make more than one in my name for the same dates?

In 2014 I was able to book POFQ when it was excluded because I had a UOC (aka PIN code). I had booked CBR when FD went live and called a couple weeks later to have them check just in case. I had not received anything in the mail or email because I had been watching that very closely. Do they still use those codes for targeted special offers?

Been stalking this board for a few weeks. As of now, have a Preferred room booked at CBR from Dec 11-17. My in-laws also have the same thing booked. We both have chosen 5 day hopper tickets and both have gone ahead and booked a dining plan, as well. We both have the $75 gift card offer (we booked back in January) but if FD is available, it would be a better deal for both of us. Hoping we will both be able to snag a FD room at the same resort. Thanks for all the tips...this site is a wealth of information!!!

Oh and I also don't have a "modify" button on the disney website. Hope that doesn't hinder me getting what I want!!

You can book more than one reservation in your name. Book your new reservation(s) first, then cancel what you don't want.

Also...what would your recommendation be....

As stated above, my in laws are joining us for our trip and they have booked the same thing we have on their own account (CBR Preferred, 5 day hopper, Dining Plan). Do you think it would be easier for me to try and book 2 rooms at the same time (and then cancel our old reservations since I don't have a modify button) or would it be easier for both of us to try and book separately. I'm worried we won't be able to get the same resort or the same deal if we are both trying to book that night. Or that it would be too difficult to try and book while talking on the phone and neither of us get any deals.
Any advice from you veterans???

I have always found it easiest to just do all the bookings myself, even when travelling with family members staying in separate rooms.

So, I can book 3 separate room reservations under my name, and add who I want from my family later? Do I remove myself ever from the other 2?

Why do some have the modify and some don't? I find that so odd. It has to be telling of something, no??
