We did this for DS first trip to Disney we arrived on 9/8 when he was 2 and he turned 3 the next day on 9/9! Yes I'm cheap and did that on purpose! Lol we didn't have to pay for him at all-that being said we had free dining and he didn't get anything since we didn't pay for him. Sometimes we just paid OOP for his food and other times he ate off our plates. Buffets were great because he could eat lots for "free". Disney policy is the age you arrive is how you pay....enjoy this "free" trip!

Both my girls first trip were within a month of turning 3. Great time to go.

How does this work if my package is already completely paid in full? Would I still have to make a new reservation with a new deposit and can they just take the money I paid for my first package and pay off the second? I shouldn't have a problem though hopefully, I'm booked at Sports with 6 day park hopper..

Kind of off topic....but we're all here for the food right?!?! Has anyone eaten at T-Rex? Yay or nay? My boys are 4 (next week:bday:) and 5.5. It's not too scary is it? Also, they never seem to have availability online but I've heard if you call the restaurant directly they have lots of tables. Any truth to that?

Ok guys - I am like 5 hours (and 30 pages) behind here, but I wanted to feel like I contributed today because I am loving this thread! The FD threads are bomb every year - they are just my favorite! (So sorry if they have already been answered, I'm keeping up as I can between working!)

AS far as being paid in full, this happened to us, they were able to apply the promo and just refunded our money - we had paid half with Disney visa and half with gift cards, so they let us pick how we wanted it refunded.

We LOVE TREX! We don't have kiddos, but it's so much fun! We actually really enjoy the food and the meteor shower is pretty great. They have one in KC, but the one in DS is miles better!! Enjoy!!

Just called Disney. To upgrade my summer offer to the full QS DP would cost an additional 1100 dollars, whereas to get the hopper which will include the FD would only cost 400 more, guess which way I am going.....

I have "change Reservation". Is that the same as modify? Just making sure :P

That's it. You can go ahead and play around with it to see how it works.

Hey guys! I have the "Change Reservation" button, but when I click it all it does is reload the same page. Do you guys know why it does this? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks :D

I'm getting really nervous about FD dropping. I booked my trip with Dreams Unlimited and I chose All Star Movies as my resort. I told my TA that if/when FD drops, I would be willing to switch to any other value resort that qualifies for FD. She told me she would take care of it, but I'm still apprehensive. Do TA's have more power than the average consumer to switch and change things? Should I cancel and book on my own and take my chances? What to do?!?!?!

Maybe...technically you're supposed to be able to and Disney has said the technology is there...you would "modify" your existing reservation. Having said that, in years past there have been many times that the "modify" option wouldn't work and I had to call, so be prepared to call just in case.

If you can modify it, you would login under your MDE account, go to your reservation and there would be a modify button.

What are the RO discounts for Aug is that out yet?Or last years

They are not out yet. Hoping to hear something about the same time that FD drops. There has been a rumor of possible RO discounts that cover August through early October. Still just a rumor. Usually it is an offer that gives you 25% off of deluxe resorts, 20% off mods, and 15% on value resorts.

I've been doing as suggested and playing with the change reservation button and it does let me change my dates then hopefully I will be able to change the offer to free dining only if the rumors are not true about the 4 night minimum as we can only do 3 nights at the most...I'm still going to be up all night regardless in hopes of a good room only discount...sheesh, this is all too stressful:faint:

Glad I have you all to wait with:flower1:

If I understand it correctly, TA's have a different phone number to call than us mere mortals. It's also my understanding they can take care of multiple reservations with one phone call. I had two different coworkers go to WDW last fall and used the same TA I'm using and she took care of them. My TA and I have discussed the situation and we're both on the same page. I'm not using them for this trip but Dreams Unlimited are pros. I'm sure your TA will take care of you as long as you're both on the same page, and it sounds like you are.

I am super disappointed in this rumor of mods only getting QS dining. I just don't see the value in staying at a mod resort if this holds true. Why would I pay more for something when I can get a better deal for the same offer. I would bet there is going to be huge rush to book values and leave mods, Unfortunately for my family staying at a value requires 2 rooms or a suite and the numbers just don't work out. I guess I need to start crunching some off site prices or maybe Disney is going to finally price me out of a vacation and I will need to look elsewhere.

i am in same boat family of five ,Disney needs to give us better room options

So glad you are joining us. :welcome:
If you can not modify online, you may want to consider making a new reservation if your room type/resort are available with FD. You can then cancel your current reservation. The other option is to wait and call at 7 am. The wait can be really long. Some people here have had luck calling the tech folks to get their modify button fixed. I'm not sure why some reservations have a modify button, and some don't. A Disney mystery. But, if you are going to call, do it sooner rather than later. Things will get crazy once FD drops.

Thank you so much for your tips! I'm on the phone with tech support right now to see if I can get that all fixed up. I'm so nervous! I'm always up at 3:30-4am for work so I'd be up in the PERFECT time if it dropped that early and could do it myself. My TA can do it at 6AM but still... 4am for others? Unfair :P

Have you looked at what the cost of a 4 night with free dining is versus a 3 night without dining or paying for dining? Perhaps it is less expensive to take the 4 night and just leave after 3 nights. I think it is at least worth looking at the cost difference.

You've eased my mind a bit. Thanks for that.

The summer discount that I just linked to is through August 31. Am I missing something?
