The first I saw mention of the rumor was on Disney Tourist Blog: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/disney-world-free-dining-dates/comment-page-29/#comments

Beth's comment: "Hello. A travel agent here in Brazil recently posted in her Facebook page that they got the dates for free dining . She claims they will be as such: August 13th through September 30th, November 14th through 20th and 25th through 27th and December 8th through 23th. Value and Moderate Resorts get Quick Service Dining Plan, Deluxe get standard. Excluded resorts are All Star Movie, Art of Animation -Little Mermaid rooms, Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary and The Villas at Grand Floridian."

Maybe that's where it's coming from? But like everything we've seen so far, it's heresay.

Shoot!!! All Star Movies is supposed to be excluded???! That's where we're staying!

2 family suites at AOA (each fits 6),
ASMu- either 2 family suites (each fits 6) or 1 suite and 1 standard room
CBR or POR- some rooms fit 5 but the 5th will need to be around 5'6" and 150 lbs or less
2 FW cabins- each sleep 6, though there are bunk beds which may not be preferable for some adults
Plus most of the deluxes will fit five in standard rooms. If you end up only having nine people, you could try for a 2 bedroom villa as many of those will sleep 9.
Thank you!! I am going to run some numbers now so I'm not spending my vacation running numbers for next year!!

Here's my prediction.
FD will drop 4 AM Monday and will include DDP for mods.
Many peeps from this board will be all, "why did I spend 700 hours crunching numbers to see if value/mod/upgrading from QSDP to DDP would be better??"
But all of us will be "yay free dining!!"

I hate to be the negative Nellie here, but Disney wants to make FD go away in the worst way. The more they can entice people to not want it, the happier they are. For one, the mods have limited availability because of all the construction. They have very little incentive to offer the better dining plan. Secondly, look at all the people saying they're going to drop down to a value (which obviously has rooms to fill) and are going to upgrade to DDP. I dunno. As much as I hate it for the folks staying at mods, I think this might be right. This is one of the few times in my life I hope, for their sake, I'm wrong.

Children under 3 are free. No need for fast passes since there is no park ticket. She will just come along with you. She will however count as one of your ADRs. Not a credit but counted in your party when you make them. This gets tricky if she makes the party 6 because then gratuity is included in your bill. She will have so much fun!!
I have a question, my sister is taking her dauther this year for her 3 birthday. By the time they arrive she will be 2, she is turning 3 while they are already at Disney. Does she has to pay? Or is considered as an infant?

If I remember correctly it is all based on the arrival date.

So if they are 2 when they arrive, they are considered 2 for the whole trip!

The talk of mods getting QS isn't anything new but if this is the year they make the change......bummer, but your still going to Disney!!!!!

We'll be staying at the Poly unless for some reason my room is not included in FD, usually is but you never know, or 2nd choice will be TTPV at Contemporary.

We're getting closer to this offer coming out and I truly hope everyone stalking, lurking, partying, on this thread gets their desired packages!!!!!

Good luck to us all!!!

I also don't like that the excuse tends to be "children who miss X amount of days are more likely to fail math" or "more likely to drop out of school." This excuse simply does not apply to kids who do well in school yet are absent due to family vacations. The kids who are doing poorly in school are failing not because of going to Disney World but due to other more important issues.

when we first moved to this district we couldn't find my kids birth certificates and it took us 6 weeks and $100 to get replacements. The school wouldn't enroll them without them. They threatened to report me to CPS and I had to remind them it was THEM that were keeping my kids out of school. They wouldn't accept the copies from the old school either. which was the next town over. SIX WEEKS my kids couldn't go to school. I home schooled them for a year a few years after that and this September when we go I'll only be pulling one kid out of school. I'm not too worried about it.

That would be nice! I wonder if any Disney PTB actually are aware of these boards and read them. They would see how many people opt for something else or even cancel and stay offsite if FD disappears? I'm hoping the DDP will be back for those of you who book the Mods. I always do value so I'm good with QS! :)

I am so hoping that you are right. I have been crunching numbers like crazy and I'm wondering if it's even worth it to stress about it. Obviously, if the DDP is attached to the offer, that makes a HUGE difference for us, but either way, we will have to upgrade to the DDP because we really enjoy one sit down meal per day and it is only my children's (as well as my husband's) second trip to Disney and we weren't there long enough the first time. Crunching numbers for us -

August 15-21st (now I also know that one rumor has us as covered and one does not - we will see how that falls) - we are currently booked at CBR with the $75 gift card and rack rate. I'm not planning on getting PH unless I can get FD. I'm assuming that standard rooms won't be covered under free dining and so looking around

POP Summer room deal + DDP (no PH)= $3, 426.87
POP with FD/but upgrade to PH and DP = 3, 111.76

CSR Summer room + DDP (no PH) = 3,588.04
CSR with FD + PH = 3569.98

Unless the mods get DP, I'm thinking that it's just about a wash unless we stay at POP again. I'm very torn though, POP was fantastic last time we were there, but I know that my husband (almost 6'3") would rather have the larger beds at the mods. Very stressed out right now. Can't wait until Monday and all of this anxiety and stress will be over!

I've been thinking along the same lines! My thought is the UK offer has been QS for mods and DDP for Deluxes right along. Maybe Disney has decided to bring the South American offers in line with those. Doesn't mean they're going to do the same for the US. All this is purely speculation at this point. Nothing wrong with being prepared, but it could just as easily be DDP for us here in the US!

But now you have me saying OH NO I need to crunch the numbers and see if I can get in a MOD! hehe

We did this for DS first trip to Disney we arrived on 9/8 when he was 2 and he turned 3 the next day on 9/9! Yes I'm cheap and did that on purpose! Lol we didn't have to pay for him at all-that being said we had free dining and he didn't get anything since we didn't pay for him. Sometimes we just paid OOP for his food and other times he ate off our plates. Buffets were great because he could eat lots for "free". Disney policy is the age you arrive is how you pay....enjoy this "free" trip!

We have chosen to go with RO discounts instead of FD. Some of the room types (Pirate, Club Level, Park view, etc.) are more expensive, to the point that RO is a better deal for us. We then just add dining to our package.
What are the RO discounts for Aug is that out yet?Or last years

Neither of the summer room discounts make any sense for you to keep unless you absolutely can't get FD and then hey are good back ups.

So really your only decision here is... is it worth $459 more to you to stay at a moderate??
