Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

only a few more days to go! Anyone doing any running this weekend? I plan on doing a short run (maybe 4 miles), then another one when I get to FL-just to get acclimated to the heat and humidity. The high here is in the 40s today so it's going to be a brutal adjustment.

I live in Indianapolis, and I saw snow flurries yesterday.

Snow. Flurries. Yesterday (aka April 7).

I still don't feel 100% recovered from my last race, 3 weeks ago, so I'll probably just try a slow, short run tomorrow. I'm so ready for Florida!

I skipped my long run last week to go furniture shopping - is what it is. However, have a cold 10K here in Richmond this weekend!
Is your race the Monument 10k? I've run it the last 3 years and always had a blast! I'll miss it this year since we're heading down tomorrow. :drive::yay: Good luck with your race and have fun!

I've got 12 this weekend to close out my Higdon plan. I've had really good luck with 12 the week before all my previous half marathons, but I'm considering limiting it to 9-10 this time out to see how that works out. Also, since I'm doing all three races next weekend, I'll probably just have one last 3-4 miler on Mon/Tues to keep the legs loose before flying out on Wednesday.

Wow!!! I hope you're training for more than just this race!
Couple of reasons.
1) I'm out of shape so I need the exercise. Most of those runs will be run at aerobic pace for a 140 heart rate. I'm trying to test out the Maffetone method of training. Only one will be a 10x800 (Yasso 800s) training at 7:30 min/mile pace, so not too bad.

2) I cannot taper. If I take too many days off then the race day is all tight and hard to get into a groove. Unfortunately I am still suffering quad pain from a previous injury so any chance of my goal 1:45 half is gone. My conditioning is shot so if I can even break 2hrs then it will be a victory.

What's worse is that the following Saturday I need to run 20 miles in prep for a marathon in May - though it sounds like I'll have to walk part of that marathon too. Being hurt sucks, but that won't stop me from training or trying...hmm, I thought there was no try, only do or do not.

Yep - I usually run it for the fun of it. Using it as a taper and trying not to freeze or get blown away this year!

A nice blanket of snow here in northeast Ohio... seriously looking forward to sunny FL! It's hard for me to conceptualize packing for summery weather right now.

Resting this stinking knee is really making me worry about my stamina but everytime I push even strength workouts it starts twinging again. I need a stationary bike or a gym membership :)

Anyone else having trouble with signing up for runner tracking? I keep getting an error message "Portal RPC Call Failed" and I've tried both mine and my husband's cell numbers...

Training-wise I only have 2 more runs scheduled before the half...a 6ish this weekend then 2.5-3 either Tuesday or Wednesday! I err on the side of fresh legs vs extra training so I'm ok with no more runs til the race!

I signed up an email and cell for my mom & dad who are running the 10k and didn't get any errors. Did you try to an email too? Sounds like it can't call your numbers for some reason. I just put all with area code with no dashes and it was fine

I'm trying something a little different with my taper: I've got 2 more runs: 3-4 on Sunday and Wednesday, but also on the bike 45 minutes on Saturday and Tuesday (light workout for the heart), core and upper body on Monday and Thursday... Then travel on Friday and challenge runs on the weekend... Followed by lots of active recovery a.k.a. walking around the parks and showing off medals!

I got it! Must have been something to do with my work computer because it went through the first time on my phone. Thanks for people who answered! Got my husband all ready to get a bunch of texts about my running!

Haven't used runner tracking before but my son and his friend will running the 10k with me and his mom and I know the boys will leave us in the dust. Does it send us a text every mile marker or just when they cross the finish line?

like every 5k, wherever the timing pads are.

5K and finish. Possibly at the start too, can't remember.

Yeah, they send them out at the start. I had runner tracking for my sister doing the Dumbo Double Dare last year and got notifications for when she started both races. It was the same for Wine and Dine.

Where are you guys seeing the link to sign up for runner tracking?I've always signed up for it at all my RunDisney races without issue but I'm just not seeing where the link is.I'm going to the website under spectators and runner tracking and see no link to sign up??

Does anyone know if they take disney gift cards at the expo for the official merch? I recognize that the nondisney tables would not accept disney gift cards. TIA
