Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Another first-timer question here! Once I am registered (and I'm so nervous/excited about that), do I need to call the runDisney number to reserve a room and get the park tickets? And I understand they are "specially priced" tickets/rooms? Or is it better to book through an agency? Thanks to everyone on this thread - everyone is so helpful!!!!

Has anyone heard from Acclaim? I left a message this morning but haven't heard back & haven't gotten an email since last week.
Not sure what to do ????

I'm also about to register for a runDisney event for the first time (Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon)...so excited!

Me too, I'm curious as to whether I should be worrying about jumping on the runDisney package booking number as soon as I register for the race, or if it's better to go through one of these agencies people have mentioned? The agency websites mentioned are pretty baffling...And you don't get to choose which resort (beyond choosing value/mod/deluxe) with the agencies? Whaaaat? I can't say I'm ok with that.

Should I just watch for discounts and book rooms/tix at a later date? I have a Disney credit card, no annual pass. Going (Han) Solo!

Thanks for any insight from all of you who've done this before!

Can you imagine how much torture this is being in the UK, I've been awake wringing my hands for an extra 5 hours compared to most of you guys!

I registered early last week and just called RunDisney for room reservations. There are currently no discounted rooms/packages. She said to try back next week. She indicated that she could book and apply the discount later, but I declined. She also confirmed that all hotels are sponsor hotels.

Almost time! I'm even contemplating on signing up for the 5k now but that's too much money. Already signed up for 2 rD races for 2016. This will be our third.

Good luck!!

I don't know if anyone has time to reply, but do we keep refreshing the Active link from the RD page or do we have to go back to the RD page and keep trying? I have only done early registration so this is new to me.

Refresh active link! Good luck!

I would be interested in this as well. I just signed up for the 30 day trial for $1 to avoid the processing fees. It would be really nice if that also gave you the option to avoid the queue.

Debatable. I signed up for the trial to get $10 off the fees for the challenge. I did not go into the que, but I was literally staring at it refreshing constantly for 5 minutes prior. So not sure really if it helped.

I'll go with challenge gone in 15, 10K in 25, 5K in 45, half lingering for a couple days, at least. Kids races gone faster than I can count, lol! ;)

Don't forget the new fun "on hold" - that may go in a few minutes for the challenge!!

THIS is why I paid a little extra and signed up for hotel packages through a TA because I would be a nervous wreck. I feel so much more relaxed but I feel for you all trying to register today - good luck.

Aw come on, that is half the fun :rotfl2:

Here's a question. If I have two different browsers open, can I register myself on one and my kid on another without messing things up? I want to register myself for the Challenge and my son for the Mickey Mile. Say I have Internet Explorer open for one and Chrome for another where both are logged into my Active account.

Just be careful - being signed in wiht one active account in both could confuse the system. Double check your carts for each. I remember the reports about people trying to buy commemorative items at the same time as the race with early registration and it overriding the race so all they have now is a jacket!

Same as a PP. No discounts yet but check back. I am not sure if it will be general disney discounts or RD. Usually no RD discounts for big weekends but they seemed confident.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! GO GO GO

Oh my gosh! Ten seconds and done! I got my daughter registered for the challenge so we are both in! I got my registration last week during early registration. Good luck to all who are still registering!

In and registering. What is the performance jacket?
I was curious about that as well. Haven't seen pics of anything. I passed on it, personally - figured I'd opt to see things in person at the Expo. If there's anything left, that is. I don't know what any of this is going to be like.
