Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

There are separate corral assignments for 10K, half marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge participants*. The 5K gets corrals assigned as well, but they won't be released ahead of time like the other events.

*Glass Slipper Challenge participants will get one corral assignment for the 10K and 1 for the half.[/QUOTE

Yes. Your bib will say "A/C" or something like that.

What are you guys all planning on doing for breakfast after the half? I don't have any specific plans but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it until our lunch reservation at noon on just the finish snack box. Does Epcot have any good options for quick breakfast?

For the half, I always do the race retreat. For the other races, I just eat at my resort. I want to get food in as quickly as possible, then shower and rest.

I'm planning on eating whatever is edible in the box and hopping on a bus so I can be ready for our cruise later that day.

I would second France. It sounds amazing.

For the first day I am in Orlando for PHM I have a solo half day at MK planned on Thursday (my friend will arrive later that afternoon). This will be my first time ever going solo in a theme park let alone Disney World, and I'm actually quite excited! HAve any of you done MK solo? What attractions would be on your must-do list? I currently have a BOG breakfast at 8 scheduled, 7DMT fast pass at 9-10, and then I think it gave me a Little Mermaid fast pass at 11, and a Buzz fast pass at 2.

If I was there by myself I'd probably do more low key things - ride the railroad, go to Tiki Room and Country Bears, do the Jungle Cruise. I'd do more sightseeing and take more artsy photos. I would probably duck out at lunch to eat at one of the monorail resort lounges or bars. I would definitely not go on Haunted Mansion by myself!

The last two races, I have just eaten what is out of the box for breakfast. I have and plan to head back to the resort after the race for a shower and nap. I'm not sure how people run and then just enjoy the parks all day and night, I need sleep! I usually hold off until lunch for a meal. You know your body better though, if you're used to chowing down right after long runs then I'd plan to do that.

I've done MK alone and the best part about it is, you get to do whatever you want! If you want to do people mover three times in a row, you can do that with no one judging you. I did a RD- 4pm or so solo and covered a ton of ground. It was nice to go at my own pace and didn't at all feel weird about being there alone. Enjoy it! You'll see a lot of people with crying kids who will be envious of your alone time.

Hi everyone
So this is my first time ever running a Disney event, and I was wondering if there is any sort of transportation from any of the resorts to the RunDisney expo where we get our numbers and such?

There should be "Host" buses (not the normal Disney transportation buses) that will take runners to the expo and back to their resort. I've been told that if you wanted to go to a park, you going to have to hop on one of the resort buses, go there, and then switch onto a Disney bus headed to the park of your choice.

I've done all parks solo and it is awesome! I would just be really low key and do things you can't always do with other people.

Yes. There is a bus for the expo, and there should be signage showing you where to wait for it. Do not go where the park buses are. The bus for the expo will be a larger bus and will be labeled for the expo. The only time you'd have to transfer buses is if you want to go to a park from the expo or vice versa.

Speaking of mimosas...the 5k had a booth of champagne and beer today. Will we get that for any of the princess races?

I can't say definitively, but I've seen pictures of gals with glasses of bubbly afterwards so I'd assume yes! I know both W&D and so far at the marathon weekend there have been drink tents/trailers in the postrace area.

I haven't actually done a whole solo trip, but I did separate from my daughter and her FB for a while to what I wanted to do last year. Spent about a half day just piddling around. And I LOVED it!! The Haunted Mansion would definitely be on my must-do list.

My husband does not approve of this freedom - he's with you and is always bugging me to carry more. :)

:)

Can I make a suggestion that might work for you and make your hubby happy? RoadID. I bought the basic one. Silicone type band with a metal thing with info on it. I have my name and birth year, hubby's name and phone number, a drug allergy I have, and a quote ("a lot of work for a banana") on it.

Makes dh happy that I have that extra bit of info on me that is unlikely to fall off if I'm hit by a car etc.

I would definitely not go on Haunted Mansion by myself!

:) we are a family of three and we don't like to squeeze in one doom buggy, and ds loves to be with dh. So I'm always alone on HM!

Today I called Shades of Green to confirm my reservation and I asked the woman to double check that the Run Disney buses would be going there on the mornings of the races and she told me that SoG is never on the route for anything other than marathon weekend. Um, that is totally different than what management told me back in July! Then she told me I should call back after this weekend because everyone was too busy and too focused on getting through marathon. I'm just going to be over here banging my head on a wall.
I have stayed at SoG for Princess Weekend (think it was '13) There was race transportation right at the front of the resort for the expo and the races.

Quick question for you all:
A friend was going to run the half with me (I'm doing 5K and GSC) and so I bought us both race retreat. But her knee is down for the count and she had to defer, does her race retreat also defer? I know it's not refundable, but could I gift it to another runner maybe?

Got 16 k done today. The day made it easier sun cloud but the view of the mountains was beautiful! I have a heel problem I think bursitis. Have Dr. appointment next week
Hope he can inject it . The slightest hill got me hopping really need to get this looked at it has been kind of bugging me for a while now. My husband ran with me I was really slow. Oh well my thoughts are just finishing at this point. I'm going to try a bunion pad see if the cushion may help.

Someone asked about SOG. While I don't have an answer, I have an experience with people who don't know. I had a CM at SSR, during W&D, tell me that SSR isn't a host resort and there would be no transportation to the events. I tried to point out the signs in the lobby etc but he was just so sure that he ignored it. SSR was absolutely a host resort; it's why I booked it. (January and Princess events, all onsite resorts are hosts, but it's not so for other events)

The SOG employee might be that CM's sibling. ;)

We have lunch reservations at Akershus. I plan to survive on the snack box while we head back to the resort to shower/rest for a bit till we have to head back to Epcot. Worst case scenario we can grab something quick and small or split something from the food court at the resort.

Anyone know about how much the champagne is. I don't normally like to drink right after a run, but for some reason the idea of champage after coplete the Evil Stepmother is appealing to me. Do I need cash? Because if so I want to be prepared!
