Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Jeff Galloway's half marathon app. I'm trying for 2-3 short days during the week, and then a long one on the weekend.
Definitely keep following your plan. As I understand it from your original post you're exclusively walking, right? Are you hoping to run or keep walking but increase your speed? Maybe you can add in some short bursts of occasional running (10-15 seconds) and see how you like that, and then maybe do something like run 10 seconds/walk 50 seconds and then build from there?

I think you'll find too that you'll get faster as you increase your distance and build up your endurance. :) Keep up the great work!!

I use the same app! I love it! I have bought quite a few and it is most definitely the best I have found so far! I LOVE that it changes the tempo of your music to meet the pace!!
I bought quite a few too before I found one that I really like.

I would say yes, exclusively walking. That's what I wanted to hear was that I'll get faster as I build up my endurance. Thank you. I just needed some reassurance from some folks that actually know what they're talking about.

I want to find out about the medal too ! Also, no survey from RunDisney for me.

Need to buy my park tickets soon so we can pick out FP+. Flying in Thursday night before the race, hoping to do AK on Friday, MK for a little bit on Saturday (have lunch reservations at BOG), EP after the race on Sunday, MK on Monday and then maybe HS on Tuesday before flight out!

I didn't get the survey either. Maybe because this is my first time doing one of their races?

Ran a tough three miles yesterday. Between my long run on Saturday and cardio kick-boxing on Monday I was hurting. It took me a good two miles before I felt loosened up. I had to keep stopping to walk and stretch it out. I'm glad I finished the 5k though, my motivation is that every step I take now will make the race that much easier in February! Nothing worse than cursing yourself at mile 11 saying "I wish I had trained more!"

Probably not, I've done two other races before. I booked through a travel agency and not myself, not sure if that makes a difference?
No survey for me either. I booked my trip myself and registered myself, and this will be runDisney race weekend #9 for me. I think it's just a random selection. :confused3

At the half I ran last weekend there was a lady who walked the whole race and she smoked me! I wasn't that far behind her at the start, but I stopped for a bathroom break at mile 4 and didn't see her again until I was about mile 5, approaching the turnaround point. She was already headed back. Didn't see her again until after the race. I finished with a 13:30ish pace so I would say she was at least 12:00-12:30 pace. She rocked! I was super impressed.

Whoo Hoo! Just made Fast Pass+'s for our trip! It's getting real! :yay:

So jealous! Our FP+/online check-in day is Sunday.

P.S. You wanna know how nerdy I am? I based my disneybounding outfits on what I'm wearing for the races that day, and I based the theme of our mousekeeping tipping envelopes on each of my disneybounding outfits. For instance, I'll be disneybounding as Tink for the 10K and when we go to DHS, so our tip envelope has Tink on it. :)

That's awesome! This is like a life goal for me ... I just don't have the energy for DisneyBounding these days. But one day, I will try to live up to your example.

Just finished another training run. I am really having trouble switching gears. I did the Avengers challenge weekend in November, and I just can't seem to find my rhythm since then. I am doing my runs, and my pace is solid, in fact faster than it should be likely because I want to get the run over with. I just am not enjoying the runs as much as I usually do. Normally this time of year I'd blame the weather, but its been great here in MA this year. I am hoping starting to get ready for the trip (such as making fast passes Friday) will help my motivation, but right now I am struggling.

As for the medals, I feel like I have a good idea of what they will look like. But it will be fun to find out for sure. My guess is the only difference as to what the 10k/half medals will look like from previous years will be the accent image (snowflake last year, cinderella carriage in 2014) will be a seashell. I am guessing the 5k medal will look like the image they released on social medial to go with the "I'm training for the Princess 5k" cover photo. I swear in 2015 the image that ended up being on the 5k medal I'd seen previously in the lead-up to the race. Although a quick google search isn't finding it for me;) My final guess is that the ribbons will match or come close to the colors that match those training cover photos.

Of course it is quite possible this is all wrong and I am simply seeing what I want to see, because I loves the blues and greens in the cover photos and I'd like them for the ribbons and t-shirts:)

I agree with you. And we pretty much know what the Glass Slipper Challenge medal will be like (they really backed themselves into a corner with the design on that one...).

But yeah, I feel like since it's not an anniversary year for the race, your thoughts on the other medals are exactly what I'm thinking - no big changes this year. The 5K medallion for Disneyland Half Marathon weekend was exactly what they had on the "In Training" cover photo, so I assumed it would be the same for this weekend as well. :confused3

I keep thinking of Aesop's Fable, The Tortoise and the Hare. Slow pokey me, but moving along.

Okay, here is an example of me avoiding work for a little while...:upsidedow

Here are the 2014 (L) and 2015 (R) medals.

Based on those, this is what I think our medals will look like for (L-R) the half, 10K, GSC and 5K (Behold my MS Pain Skillz! :rotfl2:). Except different-colored ribbons/stones, different color scheme on the GSC medal. I have no clue on the kids medal.

So (repeating myself from above) exactly the same for the half and GSC...10K has a seashell instead of the coach/snowflake, and the 5K medal is what was on the Facebook cover photo.
