Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I went into Athleta today and picked up some new running pants and a red shirt so I can be minnie Mouse. I'm going to buy a skirt from sparkle skirts to go over the tights. I also grabbed a long sleeved shirt to wear under my red shirt just in case it is cold. Now all I need is my tiara!
Don't you just love Minnie? The first time I saw her a Disney World I was dumbstruck. She had eyeshadow and long eyelashes! I will never forget it. How about a Minnie ear bow/tiara? How cute would that be.

I will be happy if the shirts are anything but the standard ugly grey! And I hope the women's will be v-neck! Crew neck shirts make me feel like someone is choking me.
I so agree with you!!! I don't wear crew neck tees, but I love me a v neck.

The most makeup I'll wear on raceday is mascara, and that's it. More often than not, it's so humid during the race that if I were to wear makeup, it'd just smear right off before I even get photographed. Plus, my pores would clog like crazy, and I'll look like teenager in the photos taken during the rest of my trip. And like pp's said, the photographs are taken far enough away that you can't even tell that you're wearing makeup anyway.

I've been so caught up in getting ready for the W&D I almost forgot I am registered for the Princess Half too! I was looking at all those colors posted yesterday being all jealous and just now realized I am getting one too! What a goof I am, lol! :)

Same here! I was just going to go there and then share how exciting the colors were when I remembered 'oh yeah, i'm running this one too' LOL

Is #teamrundisney the only source of 'in training' shirts?? Not sure if actual RD does one too...

And yet another Ariel on the course! I LOVE ariel. She's my fave princess. I'm not a princess girl really, but I make exceptions for Ariel.

*realizes how long the lines will be for the Ariel meet and greet at the MK after the race*

I don't wear makeup at all so my decision is easy that morning. lol

This. I get it, and I don't know how much experience the OP has with races, but these are not close up photos. No one will probably even be able to tell if you're wearing makeup. Also, if you sweat at all (which...if you're a human being, you probably will lol) it's not going to look fresh anyway. Do what makes you feel comfortable, but just know that unless someone is using costume makeup of some kind, almost no one is going to be wearing makeup.

Alright people, I need some encouragement today! A couple of days ago I drove 12 hours to get to my parents' house, so the kids and I could have some fun in CA while DH is on a 10 day trip with his Dad (my kids are on year round school and are currently on a 4 week break). I've eaten mostly junk food since then, and the last thing I want to do is do my 5 mile training run today. It's so hard for me to get out and run after eating badly for a few days. What do you all do to get out of a bad cycle like that??

Just get out there.

Remember that these runs are during vacations for many of us. Weird food, more sugar than normal, less sleep. If we don't practice in those conditions than it will all be new and painful.

3.18 miles today. I averaged a 16 minute pace with a bathroom stop, a stop to fix my shirt, and some walking. If I can manage to go the entire race without stopping for the bathroom, I should be able to do less than 16 minutes!

You have months to train. Don't assume your time now will be your time then.

I do like this idea, as long as the lines are not long.

So, I'm a little vain. I don't like having my picture taken when I'm not wearing makeup. I'm contemplating putting on all my makeup the night before and sleeping so I don't mess it up. That way at 3:00 a.m. I can just get dressed and still be ready for photos. I mentioned this to my husband and the look I got said that I was crazier now than the day I decided I could run six miles and was willing to spend a fortune to race with Mickey.

Have you done any events yet? The majority of female runners I notice aren't wearing makeup. The ones that do stick out in my mind. And many of us are vain, but not so much so that we want to worry about mascara on a 10k day.

I dot stop for photos (though I've just realized that my cousin and I probably will for our 5k) but I see the photographers and they aren't taking close ups. Don't worry about this. We are running or briskly walking. We are sweating. Makeup-schmakeup. :)

Lucky girl.

Think of it this way- if I actually wanted to wear makeup? I have no idea how to use any of it. I'd look like a clown. See? It's even!
Plus, on the rare chance that my skin is deciding to protest and resemble the Cliffs of Moher- I have no idea how to hide that either ;)

For a race, I sweat entirely too much (this Princess definitely does not sheen, glisten, perspire or any of those other terms- she sweats and sweats big!) to even entertain makeup during a workout. I'd scare kids even when it wasn't Halloween :rotfl2:

That is SO me. I sweat - a lot - and my face gets RED. No amount of make-up will help that!

And honestly, I could not care less. :) The only thing I apply to my face before a race/run is sunscreen!

:thanks:

And even then, sunscreen feels like a layer of spackle on my face even before I decided to be my own personal rain cloud o' sweat.

No kidding! I definitely do not glow. lol That makeup would just run right down my face! I do have a shirt that says "This isn't sweat. It's liquid awesome." I must be REALLY awesome.

Y'all are cracking me up. My face doesn't sweat. If I were to wear make up on my back, I might have a lot of running colors. Lol! My mother will roll over in her grave if I post pictures of myself without makeup and with dirty hair! Maybe my tiara will draw the eye away from the rest of my hot mess.

For some reason my quotes won't insert, but that is such a great point @preciouspups about being ready for the weird conditions of a running vacation. This will be my first time doing a "racecation," so I need to keep that in mind when I don't want to do training runs on my other vacations!

As far as makeup is concerned. I usually do water proof mascara and a little concealer under the eyes. If I'm dressing as a princess, I would imagine I will add lipstick to that too!

I am the same way - I sweat a lot and I definitely get red in the face. There's not controlling that! And if I put makeup on, I'd still be red and you wouldn't tell I have makeup on anyway. I think for last year's 5k & 10k, I just put a little mascara on so I looked a little more awake (I have tiniest/lightest eye lashes) but other than that, I went au naturale.
