I'm actually in western Massachusetts, so i saw the flurries. I was running (inside) during them. I need to get myself to run outside in the winter, but where I live, the snow piled from on the roads from the plows makes neighborhood runs impossible and I think our rail trail remains unplowed during the winter. Don't know for sure as I wasnt a runner last winter...
Yeah, I live in what was up until one last snowstorm, the snowiest large city in America for a good part of the winter. Neighborhood runs do get tough. We had snow piles so tall last year the kids could climb them and change streetlight bulbs in some places. It was nuts. I would still do my 3 milers midweek locally, but it was full daylight, and a low traffic area and time. But I'd actually go park somewhere and and run on a road that had a wide shoulder that was mostly plowed for my long runs. I'd run north x miles and back the same to get those runs in. The rail trail I use most often now is not plowed in winter. It is used by snowshoers mostly then.
Here's hoping this year is at least a little less snowy both for training and so we don't have issues flying out. My flight for GSC 2014 got cancelled, and for 2015 I made it but there was a blizzard the day before I left and a storm the day after, so it was a close call!
