Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Is the teal too blue? Should I go more mint? I think I'm over-thinking this, lol.
I think it looks very cute!

My friend strung colored beads in her hair - affixed using eyelash glue. Not sure if that would hold up during a run but a candy headband would work, too! Have fun!

Just finished a nice 3 mile run, who else has started their training?!
I walked/jogged 2.5 miles this morning at the gym. I had planned to speed-walk another mile or two with a friend but the air is too smoky here today. Because I am almost as old as Disneyland, I'll keep increasing my distance slowly! ;)

I saw this question asked elsewhere so I can't take credit for it, but being a newbie I'd really like some more info on it so I bring it to all you very knowledgeable people. How does the sale of New Balance shoes work? This person mentioned about putting yourself in a virtual queue in the morning? Can someone explain this process? Also, what other things are there virtual queues for as far as the Expo? If I'm traveling the morning of the day I plan on the Expo, might I be out of luck not knowing when I'll actually get to the Expo?
Here's the web site, it has a lot of info in the FAQS section

You can register for the New Balance queue in the morning - I believe it began at 6:00a. You'll need your bib# and you can choose a time. You also need to put in which style of shoe and the approximate size.

I had made the mistake of attempting to register for the queue via wifi at AoA and lost connection before my registration was confirmed. No timeslots were available when I tried again. So, we drove to WWoS and signed up for a time. We picked up our packets, shopped, and then saw that some of the New Balance employees were standing around. We went to the check-in area and said we had a time slot for an hour later - no problem at all. We were immediately assisted!

You can purchase two pairs of shoes. CM friend bought the Sorcerer Mickey shoes for herself and a friend - in kids' sizes so they saved money!:)
Do you know when/how they show what the shoes will look like or do you have to wait until you sign up for the queue? And about how much does a pair cost?

Disney Parks Blog had photos prior to the Princess weekend. I have the Cinderella pair and I know they were in the $120 range - they did come with regular laces and ribbon laces. The kids' sizes were closer to $75, I believe.

I'm not training yet, just trying to maintain my pace & mileage. I ran with a coworker this morning, and he's exponentially faster than I am, so it felt good to push myself to keep up. My sweet spot for weekday runs is 3.5 miles. I'll start amping up the mileage in September to prepare for a 10K that I have at the end of October, and PHM training officially begins November 23rd for me. I use Jeff Galloway's plan, but I add in a week off for Christmas, and leave a little wiggle room in case I get sick during cold & flu season or have to take time off due to injury.

When will hotel or package deals be released? I know this weekend could definitely be blacked out, should I make a RO reservation now just in case no deals come out?

I think it would be wise to book a room-only now.

We were able to book Coronado at the CM rate for Friday-Sunday. POR and CBR were also available so that means room availability was still quite high.

I think I will go ahead and get a reservation just in case. We'll be on property in November and I'm hoping for a good bounce back rate too.

2016 Package rates were released at the end of June, so you should be able to book now, too. I booked our stay at AKL + DDP (no tickets, since I get mine on base) on June 22nd.

ETA: I just reread your message, you said deals not rates, lol (duh). Deals for February timeframe are usually released in October. Link: http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/#codechart

As @Luv2Run mentioned, packages are already available.
Last year they released winter discounts around October (I think). I was able to book a discounted room at CBR and then later at All-Star Sports (CBR was no longer in my budget when I extended my trip) with the discount.

Thanks guys! I should have been more specific. I was looking for discounts (either RO, or something like that). I think you all are right, I'll have to wait closer to fall..

I started back running yesterday. It is hard for me to get to the gym in the summer and just too hot to run outside here. BUT, my 8 year old wants to do the Color Run with me in October so I have to get him out running on the weekends. We tried a few weeks ago but I forgot to medicate him before and with the humidity, his chest started to hurt two laps in. He is mad that I'm making him wear a mask during the color run but I promised him he could decorate it so that made him happier.

Ok, I talked to dbf last night, and we've decided on Wreck It Ralph & Vanellope Von Schweetz for the 5k.

For dbf, he's not big into over-the-top costumes (for the 5K last year, we were The Incredibles, and he simply wore a red Incredibles shirt with his running pants, rather than the full-on muscly costume seen in Halloween stores). I'm thinking something like this for him:

I've been doing some looking around and comparing for inspiration, and I can't quite tell which color works better for matching to Venellope's outfit: aqua, mint or teal.

I started my training too for the GSC. it will be my first Disney race. I am soooo excited! It makes training outside in the Texas heat and humidity a little more bearable. :)
