Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

The links to download the plans to calendars aren't working for me...the iPhone/iCal didn't, at least. I'm going to try it on my computer later.

Hi everyone! I am jumping in! DD (9 now, 10 at race time) and I want to do the 5k for sure and we are flirting with the idea of doing the 10k as well. I've been wanting to do this for a few years and now that I'm healthier (no longer using a walker, lost 85 lbs and a whole lot more stuff) I really want to do this to seal the deal of me being "back".

We are planning to go to WDW in Jan 2016 as a family and then adding on PHM weekend in Feb. Do we have to book the room with runDisney at the same time as registering for the race(s)?

Can you register a minor on your active account at the same time as you do yourself? So many questions!

You do not have to book the room at the same time with runDisney. Some people don't even stay at the parks with their rooms either and just drive in. I already have my room booked as I am DVC. You can sometimes find a better deal out there than the discounts that RunDisney gives you.

You can register a minor on your active account at the same time.

I am a runDisney registration newbie, and I am getting nervous!! I will attempt early registration next Tuesday. For you experts, is it easier to register DVC or AP? Or does it matter?

Where do we find the early registration links?

Also - am I the only one who can't figure out the size chart for the race tees? The measurements listed are odd ;)

Getting excited!

I don't think it matters. Sometimes I hear that the DVC link didn't work, or the Disneyland AP link didn't work, or whatever, but registrations seem to have gotten better lately. I'd have both of them up and refreshing and then use whichever one works.

Log into your passholder/DVC pages. They should appear there.

I hadn't looked at them until now...I agree, they are WEIRD! :confused3 The chest measurement especially looks bizarre.

Thanks! I assume the registration links won't show up until 12 EST? Are they usually on the home page (like the DVC homepage)?

I may just have to guess on the tee sizing and hope it fits. So strange!

On the sizing, there is a link to "How to Measure". I would think you would measure a shirt that fits you well and pick the size that matches that description? Just my 2 cents, lol. :)

I can't help with the DVC one. For AP, you log into your account and link to a special section of runDisney.com will pop up under "Special Offers" or something similar. The registration links will be there on June 30 at noon.

Early registration is only a week away! I'm getting so excited.

I did the 10k this year and exchanging the shirts was not a problem at all. I would just make your best guess.

Hi Everyone - I am really enjoying all of your helpful tips. I am a returning Perfect Princess this will be my 8th year for PHM, 7th running with my daughter, she was too young the 1st year the race opened. I LOVE this race and really look forward to reading these boards!! Can't wait for early registration on Tuesday.

Is anyone else struggling with deciding between doing GSC or just the half?

I'm struggling with deciding, but for me it's the 10K or the GSC. I'm not sure I'm up for the half in addition to the 10K, but it's so tempting! I'll waffle back and forth until registration day and make a last minute decision.

My "bucket list" item was always to do Princess, so I kind of feel like I would be doing GSC just for the sake of doing it and not feeling like I was missing out on something. But that's a lot of money to spend if you don't REALLY REALLY REALLY care about doing it. Plus, I've been nursing Achilles tendonitis for a few weeks now and I'm just worried that I'd be biting off more than I could chew with a 10k and half back to back like that. I guess I'll have to see how I feel on July 14th. :confused3

I think that's the bad thing about rD introducing these challenge - people feel like they HAVE to do them. Choose what you WANT to do, not what you feel like you HAVE to do. If you don't do it this year, the Glass Slipper Challenge (or some other challenge) will still be there. They are incredibly popular, clearly they aren't going anywhere. :)

That's what I needed to hear, thanks! I feel like I would enjoy my vacation a little more too with only one race and one early morning.
