Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I just wanted to wish everyone the very best of luck in all the events this weekend!! I did the 10K in 2014, and the half in 2015, and I have to say it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life! I'm disappointed to not be going back this year, but am planning for the glass slipper in 2018. Enjoy every minute of this experience!!! And have a great run :thumbsup2

You and me both! I hope to see you there!

Before the plane takes off- did we all decide on an impromptu Dis meet at Trader Sam's tomorrow or Friday (or both lol) or no???

I'm game....

Man! I missed it! Totally forgot...though I was pretty fried by 4.

Black, maroon, mint/teal in real life. shirts are cute but the half color is kind of random but at least it's not pink. All shirts are short sleeve and I really wish they would spring for a tech short for the 5k. Cotton is not wonderful at moisture wicking

It is a beautiful shirt, but you're right. Very random. It doesn't really scream "under the sea."

How many corrals are there for the 10k? I am in E and trying to figure out if I am in the last corral or if there is one more behind me. TIA

I read somewhere that someone said it goes through F, but I'm not in that one, so I'm not sure.

We were about 20th in line to get in. Everyone around us was calm. DD and I had a plan - divide and conquer. She grabbed 2 tanks and 2 hoodies and I grabbed2 of the other tanks. I grabbed 2 mediums and they were on the upper rack so the straps got caught on the hangers. While trying to get them loose I started getting pushed up against the wall. I abandoned those 2, grabbed 2 more from the back and had to yell and fight my way out! I was like, if you let me out you can get in here! Geez! We were the first people to pay at the registers. Then hit Sparkle Skirts & Raw Threads for a couple purchases. We walked the rest of the expo but nothing jumped out at us so we left to go do our packet pick-up but OMG, the line was out to the parking lot! We ended up leaving and going back about 3:30-4:00 and it was fine. No waiting at all and everything was restocked. Bought DH the favorite princess t-shirt and we also got a couple pins. Just made a 3rd trip to meet someone for my Disney Jamberry nail wraps and it was busy but sane lol!

I feel like I wasn't at the same expo as y'all! It was crazy busy, but nothing like what everyone is saying.

I am hoping that probably at least a good half to three-quarters of the runners went and got their stuff today. I am thinking that I may wait for midday tomorrow to take my daughter over there so we can get our shirts and bib

You can print it out at the expo. :)
Does anyone know the average corral sizes for the 10k? How many corral's? Maybe from a previous year. I can't seem to find any info about it. We picked up our bibs and bags today and besides the corral ni,ben it has no info regarding placement for the 1ok.

Thanks!

Star Wars definitely handled the merchandise better. You wait in a ballroom upstairs in your line was let downstairs and monitored as you got in. It was busy but no crazies!

Completely agree! My first expo was 2015 PHM, and I thought it was just nuts (although nothing like what people are describing right now). Hated it. The SW expo at DLR this year was downright civilized in comparison. A place to sit, movies playing, orderly lines - it was fantastic!

has anyone done the virtual queue for New Balance? I just got my time for 5:30 pm tomorrow and I was wondering how on time they are?
I've signed up before but actually went to the expo early and got in before my time. They are usually pretty good with the virtual queue at least as of late. They have a TV screen with the group they are serving at that time to et you know.

Won't be on Disney property until 1AM. Ya'll pray for me that there's a room ready that early. Otherwise, guess i'm sleeping in the rental.

For the future, you will not get a room at 1am if you didn't book the day before that. Hotel nights don't switch to the next hotel-day until around 6am. So if you left Wednesday at 7 and got in at 1am Thursday, you needed to book Wednesday, and just let them know of your late arrival. That way a room would have been sitting, waiting for you, all day.

My friend in line says the Expo is now temporarily closed because the Fire Marshall wants people to clear out. Geez.

Hmm. We got in line shortly after the time you posted, and while we did have a long line of people, it didn't take that long to actually get in.

IMO when people act as personal shoppers for each other, they do the EXACT SAME THING to other people as the ebayers do. Take what YOU are getting, leave everything else, and let the next few people get their items.

Left without the one thing I wanted, that run princess run grey rawthreads tank, because they were gone. There was one I was waiting to get to, when someone grabbed it *from behind me*, then when I said that it wasn't a size that she was (wasn't a size I was either but I wanted to at least check it out) she said "oh it isn't for me". Well, then, leave it there for someone who is at the expo, darnit.

I didn't much like humanity today...

But I got my sparkleathletic expo-pickup skirt and it's seriously cute (and a bit too big, which makes me feel very very good). In celebration, my cousin and I bought matching-color shoe poms from them as well.

OK gotta sleep.

I'm keeping an eye on this for next year...I want to know what time the crazies have left. Like, if I plan to roll in at 3PM next year, will it be relatively empty?

My only PHM so far was in 2011 - runDisney was JUST starting to get really popular. The race was smaller and I remember the expo being crowded, but not insane. If there was some way to get the bib and race shirts without having to go into the expo, I;d do it in a heartbeat for this race weekend (though I know they won't do that since they want people to be in the expo and shop).

We got there right around 3-3:30 and it was pretty busy, but it didn't seem bad. I didn't run into any badly behaved individuals. I was on high alert too because I seriously dislike swarms of people.

My brother's family got there about 7:00pm last night & my sister-in-law said it wasn't crazy or too crowded but when they were leaving right before 8 it had some packed in areas. She didn't mention what was sold out, but I read online they still had the pink jackets getting restocked all day.

I'm down for whatever. I actually had reservations for the boathouse at Disney springs for tomorrow if anyone thinks they would be interested in joining. the reservation is at three or 330. I'm thinking of canceling because originally I was going with friends and they canceled this whole weekend for other plans.
If you did not cancel Boathouse, I can probably join you if you wanted company. I plan on hitting the expo around 1.

We got to the Expo around 11am yesterday and it was busy but not crazy. The only thing I noticed when we were there was they had run out of the tank tops. I'm sure they restocked them after we left but I grabbed what I wanted and got the heck out of there. I was feeling claustrophobic. I got the GSC blue tech pullover, the blue GSC thick headband, and the GSC mickey ears car magnet.

Did the 5K this morning. We were in Corral A and it was nice not dealing with people walking 3 to 4 abreast like last year. LOVED the guy in the giant Sebastian costume in the Boardwalk area. He loved our costumes. A little disappointed in this year's snack box contents. Goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, mini Luna bar, coconut granola, and uhhh what looks like birdseed. I miss the years when they gave us hummus & crackers, or crackers & cheese spread, and mini Almond Roca.

They had the tortilla chips and cheese at WDW marathon weekend in January- it's my favorite snack from the boxes. Sounds like you opened a kindergarten lunchbox. o_O

Thanks! Noting this for next year. :)

Yeah but that Caramel corn is easily the best thing ever from a snack box... I'd take a giant bag of that all to myself

I really liked the 5k this year- having world showcase all in pinks was beautiful... Found the on course characters bizarre.. Having goofy & chip n dale in beach gear? I assume it was mermaid=beach but yeah if you don't want to put princesses put sidekicks or the fab in Royal gear..

We finished just under an hour so happy :)

Just so you know, that has never been my experience and I've been traveling a long time. Usually, outside of things like Christmas, 4 July and apparently race weekends, DVC is not so fully booked that you don't have a room at 2AM. ( not that it matters but I didn't even leave the airport by 1AM) Especially, when you call operations a day or two ahead of time, they usually do try to flag your reservation and have a place for you to sleep. Outside of Disney, again, I've been traveling a long time and have come in on some red eyes many a time and there was something waiting. This just wasn't one of those times. But it's all over and done with now.
