Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Initial thoughts:
  • Half Marathon is WAY undersold. WAY. And they're still offering it for registration, so I'm guessing most of the bibs in the very last corral are unsold.
  • More corrals, and corral numbers are smaller except for the back three.
  • FAST field compared to last year (or almost any other RD I've done except maybe Marathon Weekend)

It can't be THAT fast. I'm in B.

Thank you, @Keels , for posting the information for us. I'm shocked that we are so far back - but the corrals seem smaller.

To anyone who doubted the POT submission, even if it wasn't required -- look at my husband and I. We were about 5 minutes apart on our submitted times and 300 away in bib numbers :P

I'm glad the corrals are smaller this year. Last year was an epic s-show in the corrals. For comparison, last year I put in a 1:18 (I think? Or maybe it was 1:21? Whatever.) PoT and was in E. This year, I'm in F with a 1:09 10K. My friend with a 1:06 10K is in E (she just missed D by like 20 bibs). We are roughly 400 bibs apart.

Def party in H , hubby and I are both in H too 60xx and 60xx :)
We will be Jesse and buzz !

I'll be dressed as Ariel :D We'll have to do some sort of DIS runner meet up in H as we accumulate more friends.

I am in H too!!!

YESSSSS!!!!!! :D We do get to corral together before the race.

I was a 1:21 10K POT submission and a bit surprised that I was in H since last year I'd have been in E like you. Thinking about it... I'd rather have more spread out corrals since it allows you to enjoy the race more. I'm ready to get my feet on the pavement and run this thing.

Also, the 5 and 10K courses are different this year. No Critter Country/New Orleans Square, which is odd since the Tink courses passed through there earlier this year.

A little less park time in the 10K as well.

Only thing missing now is the event guide, which will likely give us an idea as to what our shirts will look like!

I'm in F and missed E by a little bit too!! Glad we will have a smaller-ish field though.

Can't find DH in the waiver database...hmmmm....
Although, this might be a non-issue, because he may not be able to run anyways!! (He had an MRI yesterday to evaluate for possible stress fracture. Rats.)

Rookie question: only two water stations on the 10K? Is that normal?

On my only other 10K, to be fair we only got water twice because the other 5 stations were out - and we weren't at the back. :( (poor planning) but I'm surprised at Disneyland there is only 2 because it'll likely be scorching? (Or at least to me it will be blazing lol)

Addendum to previous post: Well that was easy re: finding DH in the database..they had his birthday month wrong. I wonder if it's possible to fix that? But hooray for him getting in C! Again, may be a nonissue due to the injury, but I'm proud of him. :)

Try playing around with his birthdate (like a day before and a day after). That has seemed to be the most common issues in the past when peeps don't show up in the database.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news on the MRI!

There were three last year. I'm going to go ahead and say the published map is wrong, because there should be a water stop right after Mile 1. That's where it was last year and this year for the Tink 10K.

You are exactly right! Thank you!!! He's been swimming for the last few weeks with the hope of giving the legs adequate rest, but even if it is "just" shin splints, not sure even walking 13.1 is a great plan. Will keep you all posted!!

They have the corrals setup like 2014. Does anyone remember how that went? I am remembering them sending off two corrals at once for the first few releases, does anyone else remember that?

It's crazy that the half marathon is still open for registration. If it wasn't for the fact that it's only 3 weeks away and therefore hotels and flights would cost a fortune, I'd be so tempted to register so I could go Coast to Coast (registered for Wine and Dine in November).

Just do it
