Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I am a bit late to the planning, but I have snagged a hotel, Portofino, if anyone has info as to why this is not a good place let me know. Dang those Southern CA taxes are high on a hotel room. Booked flight tickets today...wanted SNA, but LAX was so much less expensive and DD was able to get nonstop out of DC. We will get the express bus and I will get the 3 day hopper pass for our Sunday-Tuesday park time. As I mentioned she is pregnant so I think we will not plan anything..just go and see and relax and do what we can. She feels like crap right now, but she will be early in her second trimester when we go so she should feel better then.
Now just train, train, train.....

I am in the process of ordering my custom tank for the Tink 10k! I figured I'd start a little early to beat the rush of people trying to do it a few weeks before.

The front says: "Earning my wings one stride at a time" and the back says "It's not sweat, it's pixie dust." I'm working with the seller to get the wings on the back of the tank to look like fairy wings, so we'll see how it turns out.

I have bright green running pants that I'm wearing for the event. I'm not too comfortable running in skirts yet, so I think I'm ready for the race. I just need a really good start and a strong finish time. Trying to get a 1:14 for good Proof of Time requirements. Flat fast course will be helpful. I'm about 8 minutes off that time right now, but that's going off a 10K split during a half marathon.

It doesn't seem like it. I don't see any mention of them in last year's program or on the website. :confused3

Thanks, I looked on the website and didn't see anything either...too bad. That really helped me to break the 2 hour mark at the Princess last month.

That would be really weird if they had them at Princess but not at Tink. Maybe it's a DL vs. WDW thing?

I would be careful on the wings and look at the new costume policy for rundisney. I am not sure of the constraints but there may be restrictions on wings if they stick out and not tucked in. Maybe some on this board can provide answers to wings?

I'm so dumb - I should have clarified that the wings are printed onto the shirt - it's a picture of wings not actual wings.

Ack. Sorry!

The new costume rules allow transparent wings:
  • Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
So I'm guessing that the wings made from nylon/tights material (like Sparkle Athletic) aren't allowed? I don't remember seeing any wings during WDW Marathon Weekend; did anyone who ran Princess see any on course?

Nevermind, just went through my photos quick and here was someone right in front of me with pink Sparkle Athletic wings! Dur! :rotfl:

We have had pace groups the last few years at the Princess. This was the first year I connected with one. They have a booth at the expo and you can meet the pacers and talk to them about the race. Diane, the sub 2 hour pacer, said she would run the whole thing without stops or walking and her goal would be to bring us in at 1:58. Very nice gal. She came in at 1:59 and I was 15 seconds behind....mile 11 and 12 were hard. When we reached Epcot, she said 7 minutes, stay with me, but I made my goal! Sorry you had to relive that...I am still on a high and probably the reason I even signed up 10 days ago for the Tink Half.:flower:

Just stopping by to say Hello! I am now in for Tink Half!! Yay!!
Thanks to some random person who posted on FB today that the half hadn't sold out...it got me thinking.
I sent a causal email (half joking) to my hubby and he said go for it. Then I found a killer deal on air fare- and it was meant to be!!
Just did GSC and signed up for DDD!!!
Collected the blue coast-to-coast in 2011- Pink will be nice to add to the collection!!!

Just had to share with others who understand the "obsession"!

Welcome Beverly! Sometimes things are just meant to be!

Ok on all the other race threads I have been apart of people were looking around for race guides and waivers by now, anyone have any clues? Are we not going to see anything until Darkside is over?
