"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Well, you don't know if it will change because no one is giving Disney the chance to correct it at the next party before they are jumping on the "lets email Disney" bandwagon.

It's telling Disney to see there is a problem so I don't know if they will fix it but it will be doing something waiting around sometimes isn't the answer, this gives them the voice of the ppl to help get things right for the rest of the parties I feel bad for the guests of the first one and don't think any guest should have had to deal with it so to say just keep waiting fir the next party I'm sorry in my opinion doesn't float : /

I have emailed and asked for a refund. After seeing so many guests without wristbands the entire night, it made me so mad. I never thought I would be one to ask for a refund, but here we are. I'll update when I receive a response.

Well, I was there Tuesday night and I sent Disney an email about it. The check in procedure was fine at 6:00 pm when we got there, however after got to Main Street there were mobs of people that never ended until past the castle. I never heard any announcement that the park was closing. (When Universal does their Halloween Horror Nights, there are multiple announcements...The park will be closing in 45 minutes....30 minutes...15 minutes....GET OUT!!!!) We went on several rides, no one was checking wristbands and I saw multiple people without them So, Disney has my money and I am out of luck. I'm home now so them getting it right for future parties does nothing for me. But as the old adage goes, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me... Disney will never see another red cent of mine for a "special (ha ha) event"

It not waiting around for an answer if you were NEVER there to ask the question. Do you feel so bad for the people at the party or is it more of "I want to make sure this doesn't happen to me" Because all the emails are taking away from the people that were there! It's going to take Disney longer to get back to them on their concerns if they have to wade through 100 emails from those that didn't attend. I think THAT is sad.

I don't blame you a bit! I would do the same thing. I hope they respond quickly and I'm sorry your party night was ruined.

Yep, I hadn't checked avatar thread cause i figured it was a seperate thing. Sorry for derail btw.

No worries! I've noticed it mentioned a few times in this thread, so it was probably time to have a quick conversation about it. Now it's here, and folks know they're "not alone". :)

Hopefully the web folks are on this and will get it fixed.

Now back to your regularly scheduled MNSSHP discussion.

Going to a party on Oct 15th (my family's first ever MNSSHP) and I really hope that Disney gets their act together before then. I find it completely unfathomable that in 3 hours time (4PM-7PM) they cannot clear out the people without wristbands. There is no excuse for it at all. The fact that they seem to be so nonchalant about people staying for the best part without a ticket (because to me the parade/fireworks/stage show is the best part) irritates me so much I want to scream. After the extra hours I have put in at work to make sure I can afford to take my family on this vacation and to this event, it is completely unacceptable for non ticket holders to be allowed to stay simply because they may purchase something to help pad the Disney pockets. And to think I switched my whole trip to be able to include the party. If this happens while I am there then I will be spending a lot of time at Guest Services by the look of it.

Sorry for the rant everyone. :badpc:
Oh, hallen4, don't be sorry for the rant, you took the words right out of my mouth, everything you said goes ditto for me, except for your party dates.
I hate to think this way, but it seems Disney has maximized profits at our expense. From reading this board, I have learned that the parties started later this year. Does that equal fewer parties? It is less expensive for Disney to produce fewer parties, and they saved money by decreasing the number of special attractions ( dance parties, rare characters). Did Disney increased the capacity of the parties? For those that attended the first party, did the capacity look like normal park day capacity?
If capacity has increased to normal park day levels, Disney has essentially doubled their income for that day. I want Disney to make a profit, but if the parties are as most have described, then it has lost its value and appeal for me. Does anyone have any info regarding the likelyhood of receiving a refund prior to my party?

I probably shouldn't get involved but this is like saying "oh sorry you died in a car crash due to faulty equipment but I'm still going to spend my hard earned money and buy the car anyway because it didn't happen to me". The consumer has every right to ask if a known problem that several people have complained about has been resolved PRIOR to investing in that product. We bought 7 tickets totaling close to $600. I think I deserve to know how they plan on making future parties better.

I really think everyone is hitting the panic button a little early. It was the first night with probably new CM's first party. I have been at sold out parties before and it is completely manageable. What everyone is talking about here sounds a lot like last years Villains Unleashed disaster at HS. I have tickets for Halloween and it is sold out but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it is organized in a manner like what is being reported here from the first party I will speak up while I am at the park.

As a local and AP holder, I don't attend the parties for rides. In fact, I rarely try to ride anything on a party night. I buy the party tickets for the parade, stage show and fireworks.

I have attended MNSSHP every year except one since inception. I missed the 2013 party because I was undergoing chemo. This was, by far, the most mishandled and disappointing party in my experience. We almost always attend the first party of the season and have always thought crowd levels to be very manageable until this year.

The non party guests in attendance was a huge problem, but I saw other things that were very disappointing and different than prior years.

There seemed to be fewer CMs on Main Street prior to the parade. Last year, they were policing where people were sitting and continuously checking bands. I saw very little of this. No one came by to tell people they couldn't sit in front of the trash can. Only once, did I see a band check. The team that played with kids prior to the parade didn't come out until very late and there were only a few. Just seemed like this gs were really scaled back.

The selling of party merchandise prior to the start of the party and the sale to those without party wristbands made it very difficult for those who paid to attend to see and obtain the special event merchandise. I was very lucky to be in the right place and did obtain the Hocus Pocus shirt, but it was dumb luck and before the party started.

I also saw people purchasing large numbers of the merchandise pieces. I saw one woman who must have had 30 of the official shirts at a register. No doubt in my mind that they ended up on ebay. I think there should be a reasonable limit on the number of each item that can be purchased per location. It wouldn't stop these people from mass purchases, but at least they would have to work harder to clean out the special event stuff.

I know Disney can do better.

I'm not calling anyone out, but I really think people should calm down a minute. Unless you were there, you really shouldn't be contacting Disney yet. It was one party, the FIRST party, and do you really know that they weren't trying to escort people out. I've worked in retail before and cannot imagine the stress and anxiety of the Disney employees in a situation like that. I think that after a few more reports saying the same thing we should have concerns but its still too early in the game for me to jump to conclusions and assume they just don't care and are letting anyone stay, ect. Some people don't have parties till late in Oct and they're screaming and crying to Disney about a situation they know:rolleyes1 nothing about since they weren't there!

I totally agree with this. While the experiences of those who have attended are certainly valid, I find it hard to compare a strangers experience to what I may or may not experience when I attend next week. I'm not going to demand a refund in advance based off of a handful of reviews I read on the internet. Especially reviews on the first night where there were others allowed entry (media, bloggers, etc) beyond what is typically "normal".

I also don't think Disney is going to take comments from people too seriously when they say "Well I heard that they weren't escorting people out. I heard there were people with no wristbands." If you were there and can give facts, that's great. Say "I stood on Main Street behind a family of 5 and none of them displayed wristbands. When asked they said they were just staying for the parade."

Finally, if you do attend and are unhappy, go to Guest Services right then and there if you want a refund. I think that will have much more of an impact.

Then, those in charge should be in trouble for not giving the proper training to the CMs. It's not like they didn't know the party was coming. Why should Disney get a pass on poor management over paying guests.

Sorry, I don't care why Disney had the problem. They sold me an experience and it was not as advertised. What other business wouldn't get called to task for not living up to their sales pitch.

Well if it's voiced early it could save Disney a lot in the long run fix the bugs now less complaints later on
And I do feel sorry for the ones who in my opinion got cheated some of their event in my opinion
Do I care about my upcoming trip as well I won't lie and say no of course I do. But I care just as much about everyone else who paid for the experience because we are all entitled to a magical night, we all paid the money.
But Disney needs to either say ppl can stay or need to go
Calling something exclusive but then letting non payers stay in my book isn't right

Agree. If Disney can schedule and pitch this SPECIAL EVENT...If Disney can charge/take your money for this HARD TICKETED EVENT...I expect that Disney can have policy IN PLACE to honor that transaction and remove non-payers. PERIOD. I do not care how difficult it is (CM saying "they won't leave")...if you are advertising, pitching, charging...well then the rightful expectation on the other side of that transaction is that what I have agreed to purchase WILL BE RECEIVED. I hope that Disney steps it up and tonight's party will be a vast improvement. I'm so sorry for those who attended the first party.

Can someone share a link to where Disney calls this an "exclusive" event? Because I don't see that anywhere on their website. They are selling tickets to a party that requires additional admission. They don't promise to close the park and clear it out prior to that party starting. They don't promise that someone may sneak in and not get caught. Is it wrong? Yes, it is, but they don't promise that this is an "exclusive" event.
