"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Agree. If Disney can schedule and pitch this SPECIAL EVENT...If Disney can charge/take your money for this HARD TICKETED EVENT...I expect that Disney can have policy IN PLACE to honor that transaction and remove non-payers. PERIOD. I do not care how difficult it is (CM saying "they won't leave")...if you are advertising, pitching, charging...well then the rightful expectation on the other side of that transaction is that what I have agreed to purchase WILL BE RECEIVED. I hope that Disney steps it up and tonight's party will be a vast improvement. I'm so sorry for those who attended the first party.

I would also point out that, given Disney's resources, they CAN fix the problem, if they so desire. They've done it in the past.

I'd also say they have more than enough CM's on staff, answering calls and emails of concern, for the proactive folks contact with them to be a blip on their radar in terms of workload. It's not going to negatively impact anyone's response time in any substantial way.

Can someone share a link to where Disney calls this an "exclusive" event? Because I don't see that anywhere on their website. They are selling tickets to a party that requires additional admission. They don't promise to close the park and clear it out prior to that party starting. They don't promise that someone may sneak in and not get caught. Is it wrong? Yes, it is, but they don't promise that this is an "exclusive" event.

So why "require additional admission" then? What are we paying for then?

It's on the page for the event in black and white. "Admission to this event requires a separately priced ticket."

From the MNSSHP page (toward the bottom):

Important In
  • Tickets are subject to availability.
  • Entertainment is subject to change without notice.
  • For safety, please choose costumes that are not obstructive or offensive.
  • Admission to this event requires a separately priced ticket.
  • Tickets are valid only during specific event dates and hours.

Do they use the word "exclusive"? No, but the above last two points give the reasonable interpretation that tickets are required to be in attendance, by all attendees.

Considering that allowing "party crashers" negatively effects those that actually pay (since there is a finite amount of time and offerings)....yeah, I'd say Disney would be held to the standard they publish in the party description. And would be expected to reasonably enforce those last two tenets so as to make sure those paying guests are getting what they were sold.

I probably shouldn't get involved but this is like saying "oh sorry you died in a car crash due to faulty equipment but I'm still going to spend my hard earned money and buy the car anyway because it didn't happen to me". The consumer has every right to ask if a known problem that several people have complained about has been resolved PRIOR to investing in that product. We bought 7 tickets totaling close to $600. I think I deserve to know how they plan on making future parties better.
Really? I'm sorry but I can't take this seriously. There is no comparing the two. If someone had died by being trampled in front of the castle they would compare. And it would be known problem if it happens again and the do nothing. You guys emailing aren't giving them time to investigate and correct the problem. That's all I'm saying. (And I've got 8 party tickets at about the same amount sitting in my MDE account)

Oh, I'm sure they are aware of the problem without all the emails from people who "read on a message board". They know people that were there are unhappy and they know they lost money. I don't doubt they will try to fix it for tonight's party by having more CMs to help with the crowd of non-ticket holders.
How do you know for sure?
As a business owner I welcome concerns from current clients and prospective clients. If you don't know the concerns of your intended market you can't address them properly. You can't fix what is perceived to be broken if you are not told.

I've finally caught up on this thread, wow it's exploded. But do not remember seeing anyone mention the live feeds by the Disney Park Blog of tonight's party parade and fireworks. I'm going to watch, should be interesting to see how crowded it looks.

I'm trying to write up my party plan of attack for ours coming up, but the time shifts have thrown us off. We loved that golden time after everything where things cleared out and we ran around after the fireworks. But with the later 2nd parade and the Hocus Pocus show at midnight...I think that free time is gone.

I don't understand why Disney doesn't have the act of clearing the park of non-party people down pat. This is not a new thing! It is sort of mind-boggling.

We did MHP last year on Halloween at Disneyland and they did a very good job of getting non-party people out - maybe WDW should call their DL cohort and get some tips?!

The past couple years I've been to the party I thought they did an amazing job clearing the park of non-wristband guests. It's sad to hear that there were so many non party guests still in the park. Hopefully, cause it was the first party, they'll get their act together and enforce this better. Looking forward to what others have to say for other party nights. We'll be attending the party on 10/20.

Now I want to dress as a CM for the party and just throw squatters out of the park all night!

Hahaha .... that's a costume I would love to see!

The difference is that for that event the park actually closes down, clears out, and then opens up to ticket holders.

I wouldn't expect them to do this for the parties since there are so many parties, but I think they should consider staring the party at 7, still allowing party guests in at 4, but having non party guests start exiting at 6 - giving guests 1 hour to get out and cast members 1 hour to help with this. Having to escort people out of the park at the same time the party starts is something that has always seemed silly to me.

I really think everyone is hitting the panic button a little early. It was the first night with probably new CM's first party. I have been at sold out parties before and it is completely manageable. What everyone is talking about here sounds a lot like last years Villains Unleashed disaster at HS. I have tickets for Halloween and it is sold out but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it is organized in a manner like what is being reported here from the first party I will speak up while I am at the park.

I would definitely want to hear more reviews from a couple more parties before jumping the gun and wanting to cancel my party tickets.

If it was as bad as all those in attendance have stated the CMs were probably miserable too. And they are getting reports from those actually in attendance. All I'm saying is it's excessive for so many to message about a problem when they weren't there. It's kinda a mob mentality lately. Like let's all message them together so they correct the issue so I can have fun next month. And that's distracting from those that were at the party.

Really??? It says it is a separate ticketed event. if this were the case why would there even be parties. On select nights there will be different fireworks and a different parade and additional characters. Disney wouldn't charge for the event. Just the fact that it requires a separate ticket makes it exclusive

But Disney does publish the park hours which confirm a 7 pm closing to those without a separate ticket. By this logic, I guess I can stay at AK until 10 pm as long as I'm in the park already.

Is package pickup at the front of the park an option during mnsshp party? Like if I wanted to buy one of the party shirts during the party and have it sent to the front so I do not have to pack it around all night, is that an option?

And that's distracting from those that were at the party.

In what way? I seriously doubt Disney is sitting there sifting through each and every email saying "They were there so their complaint is valid; they weren't there so their concern is invalid." I think they'll get the point. My concern is whether they care. I feel like they probably don't, but here's hoping I'm wrong.

Forgive me for going off the current topic for a minute ... have a couple of questions. We are doing a mini vacation for the party and staying on site for one night so we got magic bands. Had my FP's booked prior ... do I need to somehow link our magic bands to the MNSSHP tickets or does that happen automatically? Do I in any way risk losing my fast passes? I occasionally read on here about people's FP's disappearing and I get nervous.

I guess this can't be answered till after a few parties ... any recommendations for how early we should get to Frontierland to get a front row for the parade? We are going on 9/27 which I assume should be a medium crowd night (although after last night's sellout who knows).

And last one ... are there any characters that aren't as popular and may have little to no lines? DS7 doesn't care about the characters at all so we aren't picky. It's actually nice because we don't spend a lot of time in character lines but I'd like to try to get at least one family pic.

Very discouraged reading the reviews of the first party. We really enjoyed last years and were looking forward to this one. I hope Disney gets its act together.

Exactly...

As someone who has never been I took this to be a separate event that you pay for and they do different experiences they do not normally do otherwise. If I wanted to see normal wishes, no show, no candy lines, no Boo Parade etc I would not pay for that entertainment and I would go a regular park admission day. No where does it say in the fine print, Disney also gives you the option to jump the hoops, smiles are free, parade spots are front and center, stage show is great, fireworks are a blast, candy is a treat, just do not hop on a ride. Oh, just make sure you smile at a CM on your way back to your resort bus. I might would have saved a few hundred if they had that in their writing instead :)

All joking aside, I hope they fix the chaos and it is calm. I suspect (and hope) we see better reports. I am sad the ones who went the other night, an possibly the next few, are the testers for the this and the CM lack the training and there is no security to do anything with. I really do hope we see better reports and photos. I realllllly hope we do. Something tells me though lack of security and lack of CM response will mean more party crashers or folks wanting to more than one night to get things done due to crowds.
