"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

I am going this Tuesday, and now I'm worried people will realize they are not doing a great job clearing the parks, and decide to go to the park that day, and then just stay for the party!!!

With all this concern about the crowds I have 2 questions for people that went.

How were the lines to get into the park after 4pm? Same, better, or worse in years past?
Were there walls of CMs at choke points around the park checking for wristbands like they did in the past?

The line to get in at 4pm wasn't too bad, but I don't have anything prior to compare it to. It took less time than it did to get in most mornings of the week we were there.
I was checked twice in line for the dwarfs and was never checked again. We tried to see the second parade and walked the entire parade route and could not find a seat. During this time, I saw MANY people without wristbands on the route. I said something to a CM and she said they couldn't get them to leave. She finally let us stand in a walkway, but we had a terrible view for the parade. We were so bummed about how the night went, especially because we added on to our trip just for the HP.

I'm not calling anyone out, but I really think people should calm down a minute. Unless you were there, you really shouldn't be contacting Disney yet. It was one party, the FIRST party, and do you really know that they weren't trying to escort people out. I've worked in retail before and cannot imagine the stress and anxiety of the Disney employees in a situation like that. I think that after a few more reports saying the same thing we should have concerns but its still too early in the game for me to jump to conclusions and assume they just don't care and are letting anyone stay, ect. Some people don't have parties till late in Oct and they're screaming and crying to Disney about a situation they know:rolleyes1 nothing about since they weren't there!

I'm sorry but I feel that people should bring it to Disneys attention regardless whether they were there or not if things don't change I don't see any reason for people to go ask for a refund since it's not what they were told

So with a large amount of volume it shows Disney that ppl do care

I'm sorry you didn't have a good time, I'd be bummed too. The CMs line about not being able to get the guests to leave is absolutely ridiculous. Did they just not bother to train the CMs this year at all?!

We got there around 5/6 from the camp grounds and bag check maybe 1-2 min then the ticket line maybe 2-3 min at most
then got are bands and maps maybe 3-4 min at most.

We went right to the stage show and they were checking for bands did like 3 sweeps looking.
And a few of the rides we went on there were looking for them too. But not all rides.

Well, you don't know if it will change because no one is giving Disney the chance to correct it at the next party before they are jumping on the "lets email Disney" bandwagon.

There wasn't a long wait to get into the park.

We started the party at the circus area and never heard an announcement or saw anyone checking. I'm pretty angry. As far as I'm concerned they should refund all of us who went on Tuesday if they didn't care to clear the park.
I agree! You guys that were ACTUALLY THERE should be compensated in some way.

Wow. I am shocked by that response from Disney. The rides and characters aren't the only "attractions" that party guests are paying for...we're paying for the show, the parade, and the fireworks. While I want more from my party experience, I know that there are plenty of folks who go just for those 3 things. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I do think a letter-writing campaign is in order. If there are enough of us complaining, someone has to listen. I do think that it's
going to be more effective if we have proof of what we're complaining about. @disneyfantotheend I know it's a lot to ask, but would you be willing to make a PDF copy of the email from Disney (with your email address and any other personal information blacked out) and forward a copy via PM to those of us who'd like to attach it to our own emails to Disney? I think providing them with a copy of what you were actually told would be more effective than "I read on a Disney chatboard..." blah, blah, blah.

I won't do a letter till I get home. We have some other issues we need to address in it as well but will mention it. I'll see how tonight goes and if need be I'll speak up then.

And how many parties do people have to wait for?

I was all on the "wait and see" approach until that email was sent by Disney. It's BS that they're saying there's nothing they can do about it. We KNOW that the sweep/wristbands worked in the past. Maybe they need more CMs working the night of the party if they can't enforce guests leaving at the appropriate time.

I'm still keeping an open mind about all this. We are going to the Oct. 25th party and it will be our first MNSSHP. So hopefully any kinks will be worked out by then. If not then we will still probably enjoy it. We won't cancel it because I was able to secure a BOG res. for that evening for my niece. So we will enjoy our night regardless. I'm sorry that those who attended the first party had a not so great experience.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. If Disney gets bombarded with emails from people who weren't even there complaining, it's again taking away from those that were there and need to contact them for legitimate reasons.
I understand what you are saying, and I agree that Disney will fix this. They care about guest experience, but they need to be made aware that it was a big problem. It is a legitimate concern that Disney did not have the appropriate resources scheduled to effectively get those without a ticket out of the park, while families that paid $300+ for tickets were not able to view the parade, etc.

In this age of social media, expressing concerns as a future guest can only help boost the case of those who attended this week. And, I think an active approach is needed because Disney is not nimble. If they are going to allocate additional resources and get them up to speed on procedures, they need to start working on it now, not in October.

Anxious to hear about tonight's and this next week's parties. We have an October trip planned including two MNSSHP nights. I know we'll make the best of circumstances, but after spending that much money on non-refundable tickets, I can't say I'm not nervous. Thanks to everyone who has given their feedback!

Oh, I'm sure they are aware of the problem without all the emails from people who "read on a message board". They know people that were there are unhappy and they know they lost money. I don't doubt they will try to fix it for tonight's party by having more CMs to help with the crowd of non-ticket holders.

From a business standpoint....the thought of compromising, or outright LOSING, future revenue (esp in the very near term) is typically going to be much more of a motivating factor to enact change than placating customers who's money you already have (and who will not/can not require or demand refunds). Especially if you want that change to happen quickly. Ask Toyota....(and look at the response from the Disney CM).

I think, as a prospective customer, it's perfectly valid to check in with the company who's product you're buying, especially when you've already pre-paid for it, when you have concerns. Given the feedback from that first party, and the photographic evidence provided by some of the reviewers...I think we can legitimize the complaint, rather than thinking it's just rabble rousing. I think it's also compelling to Disney to hear that folks are noticing and aware of the issue, and will ask for compensation if, on their party nights, they continue to notice the trend. THAT will get Disney moving. They've seen masses take over City Hall as recently as last year over issues with party offerings.

I my case, the rides were the absolute last thing I was concerned with - I can do the rides any time I go to Disney (albeit with longer lines). The parades, fireworks and stage show were the most important thing for me to see, with the Canadian dollar in the toilet the party cost me $100 :(. I am still waiting to hear back from Disney re: my email.

I would argue that the parade and stage show, fireworks, etc. are ATTRACTIONS!
I stated in my email to them that I think the parade, stage show and fireworks are the bid draws to the party.

Maybe if they get enough emails they will actually do something about it. The people who buy these party tickets don't care so much about the rides, but the special shows, etc. :worried:
I felt the same way. If one person reported this, I would not have emailed them at all, but it has been stated by many. It isn't just in people's imagination. I did not email them to ask them for anything. I basically just told them that I hope they have it under better control for the later parties. And I did tell them that I understand how difficult it is to control.

I am on the Walt Disney page but wondering who you would contact. Those who are sending in emails, what address are you using? TY
Under the basic email link, one of the choices of what you are emailing about is special ticketed events. I chose that.

It is fine for you to feel that way. I feel differently. If one person reported it, it would be different. I saw many from many different sources. Again I was not looking for anything, I just don't think it hurts to let them know there is a problem and hopefully have them resolve it for future parties. And honestly, they do not mind people expressing their concerns to them as long as it is done graciously.
