"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

It seems like those who went to the party for free have overwhelmingly positive comments about it. Whereas those who paid...seem more reserved in their reviews.

Kenny the Pirate's recap was awesome. I can't wait to see his full review.

He definitely seems to be telling the same experience as most of the reports we're hearing here, the DIS's review seemed overly pixie dusted.

I just went and read it. There seems to be some fuzzy math going on there when it comes to the overall grade calculation:

Stage Show: A-
Parade: C+
Hallowishes: A
ToTing: B-
Character Dance Party: B
Overall Grade: A- Huh?

And this person didn't do any actual character M&Gs or rides, either.

What a garbage review.

Must be some of that Disney math I've heard about (although usually it's used to justify paying for things at Disney).

They could easily fix the parade problem with non-party interlopers. Have CM's walk the parade route and have everyone hold up their arm with band. Those that don't have a band get herded out right down the parade route. Easy to pass the group on to the next CM and you can bet those waiting for the parade who paid for a ticket aren't going to allow them to squeeze through them and disappear into the crowd. Even if they did disappear, it still would allow paid guests to get a better position for the parade!

First off if I saw people in front of me at the Boo to you parade not wearing a wristband then I will cut through and stand right in front of them. If they are upset about it, they are more than welcome to get a CM to ask me to move.....Unless they were afraid to be escorted out for stealing. Attending a party without a paid admission is stealing regardless if it was enforced. I will enjoy my party time and not let non paying guest ruin my experience.

Last year there was a 1st visit/newlywed couple sitting in front of us on the curb on Mainstreet waiting for the BTY parade. They did not have wristbands, but we just stood behind them and waited. Finally, the CMs came around asking everyone to raise bands and noticed they did not have one. They were absolutely clueless and after a brief explanation, directed to immediately exit the park.

Now I KNOW it is not an excuse, but the softie in me felt bad for them because they clearly did not know what was going on.

However, some folks are blatant in taking advantage. CMs used to have checkpoints at the very start of the parties, especially toward the back of the park, to clear everyone out...and I would see individuals past that point sitting in hidden areas in what appeared to be an attempt to avoid detection.

Last year at a sold out MVMCP the cast members linked arms and we're stretched out across a walkway. You had to show a wristband to proceed further, they then slowly moved forward to they he where they met cast doing the same thing from tomorrowland, etc. This process basically forced non-party guests to the entrance where they had to exit. Even the stores and restrooms had someone near by to check bands. Im sure some got through, but nowhere near the amount last night. I was expecting the same process at thisnparty. Perhaps the cast was a new crew of college cast and had no idea what to do. I know it must be intimidating to be on your own in this sea of people trying to herd out the non-ticket guests.

Eta... a prior post of mine mentioned an 80 min wait for bus service back to mynresort, that time included travel time once I got on the bus, so the wait was probably closer to 60ish. Again, this may be in part to non-ticket guests, but that is only a guess, as by that point I was cross-eyed with exhaustion and wasn't looking for wristbands.

For all the complaining I have done this morning, I really did have a fun time, I just wish I had more time to see a character and view the stage show at an earlier time.

So one of the main reason I am going to MNSSHP for the first time is to see the Parade!!! Normally (not including with what happened the other night because hopefully that won't happen again), what time do you find a spot for the second parade? I wan't to be able to get great pictures if I can. Thanks. :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see adults getting candy. But I personally would be surprised to see adults waiting in long lines for candy. While ToTing at the party is fun, for me personally it wouldn't be worth spending even 15 minutes in line, and it would just surprise me to see adults making a different choice when there are so many other fun things to do at the party. Like ride rides with short lines. :)
Haha.... my thoughts exactly. I am also an adult that will be attending without kids as I have done a couple times in past years. And it is fun to do the trick or treating part as I get to do alot of people watching.... it's great to see kids and adults in costumes, etc!! But... I will not stand in line just to get candy! :rolleyes1 I plan to hit the ToT stations as I'm walking to the next attraction/event/ride/whatever!!

The last couple of years, I offered DD (8) an entire bag of candy of her own if she would agree not to wait in any Trick or Treat lines. It worked quite well. I don't get the lines. There is nothing special about them.

We got a little candy, but only if the line was 3 minutes or less. We found a few of those.

I actually think I am going to make Boo-Bags and when we go out of the room toss them on their beds so when they come back after the party they have them. I also always make a travel go bag so I may make a Halloween one too. Might make the ease of TOT failure easier if it goes bonkers.

I am bringing a giant bag of candy for this reason. That way if the lines are long, DD 4 still gets candy. We'll also make a trip to the Confectionary on the way out.....

I just finished reading Kenny the Pirates review. Glad to see that the first night chaos is actually being reported on a reputable blog site - and he has photographic proof :) I never thought to take phtos of them.

Completely of topic, but does anyone know what the long, skinny cinnamon sticks afrom the snack cart near the carousel is called? Cast members gave me free ones at the party and they were amazing!

Churros? I would presume that is what they are.

Did the torrid her universe dress for well? I tried one on at hot topic and it was terrible looking-- I may want to go grab one!
It hasn't come in yet, should be here in two weeks. So hoping it fits! I know the one you mean at hot topic, this was much cuter...here is a pic. I am going to wear with Capri leggings and a shrug, in case it's too low cut for me. Going to add a Death Star felt headband I will make. I hope it looks ok!

I don't understand why Disney doesn't have the act of clearing the park of non-party people down pat. This is not a new thing! It is sort of mind-boggling.

We did MHP last year on Halloween at Disneyland and they did a very good job of getting non-party people out - maybe WDW should call their DL cohort and get some tips?!

They usually do a good job, this is the first time in the three years I've been going that they haven't done as well.
