"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

I am going to MNSSHP for the first time this Tuesday (SO EXCITED!!!!!), and I see in pictures of the parade, that the buildings on Main Street and the Castle are all lite up with orange and green colors, and it looks amazing!!!! My question is, if you watch the parade from Frontierland, do the buildings also look like that, or just on Mainstreet. Thanks :)

It was a costume contest. If I were a local I would have entered.

Thanks but I know they have other events where its first come first serve type events. Was curious how to look out for them? It doesn't appear like the blog has those type of announcements.

Somewhat off topic, how to you even get picked to attend a Disney Parks Blog Event?

No, it wasn't a costume contest. This was an online "sweepstakes" announced on September 9th that only took entries for 3 hours that day (from noon to 3 pm). From the comments, it seems like as long as you entered, you had a really good chance at being selected as a winner.

On that post, they talk about the pre-party event and VIP seating for the show.

I've wondered as well why they don't close the park at, say, 4pm, and then start letting party guests in a 5. Just throwing out times. Why did that not work before? Anyone know?

They did go up and down Main street during MVMCP checking wrist bands, but I'd think it would be easy for people to hide, especially given the crowds described. I saw pictures of the Hocus Pocus show, and I don't think CM's could have walked through that crowd to check bands. But easy to check bands at meet and greets and rides.

They did clear the park at the first MVMCP that I went to, but that was wayyyyyyy back in 2005. Now, it has been 10 years, but as I remember it worked VERY WELL (my opinion). I'm pretty sure we were allowed inside the park around 5pm and at 6pm, all party-goers were herded over to Tomorrowland (maybe Fantasyland also, but I can't remember that). We were confined to that part of the park from 6-7pm while non-party people were gradually directed toward the exits (an announcement about the park closing for the party was made). At 7pm, the party started and all the lands opened back up. I really wish they would go back to this procedure. I don't mind being confined to an area of the park for an hour while people who didn't PAY to attend the party are cleared out. It's not about whether it worked well or not. It's about MONEY! Disney realized they could make more money if they allowed non-party people to continue to shop instead of clearing them out of the park. It's unfair for those of us who pay extra for the experience, while others who don't are allowed to stay and watch the parade and fireworks, etc. But that's just my opinion.:rolleyes1

Have there been any of these bloggers to cheer about the party? I have found some online reports via fb but I do not think they were part of this. No mention of gifts or happiness.

Outside of completely closing the park or escorting the non paying guests out, there is no way to control people staying there. I mean sure a CM might say to you in Frontierland, you need to leave, but that person could just move to Main Street and stay. Then a cm on Main Street says it and they move to a different part of Main Street. Unless escorted out, no way can you figure they will leave and they would need 100s of CMs to escort them all out.

They did empty the park completely and then only admit party goers in the past. Not sure why, but that did not work out either.

 Thanks, I must have confused it with a different contest. Our A/C is out and I'm waiting on the repairman. I think my brain is starting to melt. :faint: :rotfl2:

I did see some posts on Instagram under the #notsoscary #disneyparksblog the gifts and perks that are reported are: Exclusive Magic Band for Bloggers, A Disney Gift Card (unknown amount), MNSSHP Pins, 2015 Halloween Sorcerer's Card, Special Event with Dinner, Special Viewing of Hocus Pocus, Parade and Fireworks.

There may have been more but that's all I can glean from the photos.

From what I recall, they do some neat lighting, but nothing nearly as extreme as the front of the castle.

Reading this stuff is a bummer. I've been to quite a few parties. The last one was 2013. My daughter was 16 and Disney bounding as Snow white and her priority were the princes. I love that picture of Charming who took both her hands to face him and was just smiling at her. The removal of Flynn and the princes stinks! Another fav. memory is the hoedown dance party with my non verbal autistic 3 yr old. Woody and Jessie fell all over him. It was AMAZING! Hardly anyone there. This was 2011. I WILL say I remember at every party CM's diligently checking wrist bands. I'm hoping it was a first party glitch and things will smooth out. We'll be there on the 2nd!! Fingers crossed!!

So just to be clear, they are offering the one night memory maker? If so where would i purchase it?
Thanks

It's also about "money" in terms of the staff required to participate in that kind of park clearing. The current method takes far less staff to pull off, lets the stragglers spend a few more dukats on merch, and eliminates what Disney thought was a guest dissatisfier (ie: those being herded out complained about it, and the manner it was being done).

I totally agree, though...I thought THAT procedure worked better in terms of the guests who actually PAY to attend.

I will say, since the policy change, at all the parties we've attended (MNSSHP and MVMCP) I've seen CM's being diligent about checking bands and "herding" people toward the exit. They don't outright escort you (or, rarely do they do that), but they sort of shadow you to the next "checkpoint", where another CM sort of does the same, til you're funneled toward the front.

By some other postings in the thread, it sounds like this might not be offered til Oct 1st? That was the gist I got.

I know smitch asked about why, but, last update I saw, hadn't gotten a response.

It seems like those who went to the party for free have overwhelmingly positive comments about it. Whereas those who paid...seem more reserved in their reviews.

Kenny the Pirate's recap was awesome. I can't wait to see his full review.

I feel the same way about the princes! I last saw them in 2012, but not in 2013 or 2014. I miss Flynn and Charming.
We need to petition / email / complain to BRING BACK THE PRINCES! It's not as if there wouldn't be people lining up to greet them; it would probably actually sell more tickets, now that they've been cut from the line-up for these past few years.

I don't know about the other ladies, but I personally enjoy seeing the princes more than the princesses, though the princesses have to stand idly by watching other women flirt with their men... :flower3: :ssst:

Do you know when this will begin? We will be there next weekend and I really dont want to spend $169 for just the one party!!!!
I think the rumor is October 1st...not sure if that's been officially confirmed, though? somebody else here probably knows...

First off if I saw people in front of me at the Boo to you parade not wearing a wristband then I will cut through and stand right in front of them. If they are upset about it, they are more than welcome to get a CM to ask me to move.....Unless they were afraid to be escorted out for stealing. Attending a party without a paid admission is stealing regardless if it was enforced. I will enjoy my party time and not let non paying guest ruin my experience.
I agree, but I would never do that. I don't go on vacation to have my brass on. I really hope they do something about it that doesn't involve me turning into the Hulk. (even if he is a Marvel character)

If I watched the 1st parade in frontier land, would it work to follow it to the hub or Main Street to watch the castle light show?
