"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

The started putting up the ropes at 4:30 on 9/27 and there was already at least 20 groups. At 4:15 I was #6. Not sure about the food. Storybook Circus in the back tent past Petes Silly Sideshow.

So they are in the tent? The line is inside? Normally for inside lines I think they frown on eating in line, but I was just thinking it wouldn't be a huge waste of time to have a snack while waiting. But, if we can't then we will just eat while waiting for the parade.

Lord, sometimes I feel like I'm planning to invade a foreign country when trying to come up with a plan. LOL Maybe I'll just bit the bullet and do a second party.

They are in the charging/rest station in the back. Not inside, just under a cover.

Petes Silly Sideshow (where minnie/daisy/goofy/donald meet) is a ToT line during the party

I have gone to two parties, and am considering a 3rd (only because the rain made the first one pretty useless on the character front which is why I was there) so I completely understand haha

Were starting to get super excited for the party...were planning on going Sunday. I'm a little nervous seeing as all the parties have been so crowded. We went 2 years ago and we later found out after we got home that it ended up being a sell out party..which made so much sense because we felt that it was pretty crowded all night so we said that we didn't want to do another sell out night again..so seeing everyone talking about them being more packed than they've ever been makes me nervous..but not much I can do over it. I'm more afraid that I cant buy tickets til Friday and that will really throw a wrench in the plan if there already sold out since its the only night we can go...so we shall see...weather wise it has a low chance of rain which hopefully it stays that way..that scares me more than crowds lol.
We were going to do an Alice family costumes but my mad hatter wasn't coming together the way I wanted so I just stopped in at party city and got lucky to find a Jasmine costume that I really liked and it was way cheap..so now i'm going as Jasmine..so of course now I want to meet the Aladdin gang in my costume which previously wasnt on our party agenda.
I'm thinking that maybe since were coming early that I could do that pre-party..but do Aladdin&Jasmine still meet together pre party? Also is Abu ever out during the day? I really want one with him too..so afraid we'll have do that during the party.
Were working on putting our plan together...its always so hard to decide what are must do's and what you can live without :(

So far..The things we reaaaaallly want to do:
Dwarves
Pooh Gang
QoH
HM
Lotso
Minnie
Aladdin **
Parade
Hocus Show

I'm not sure if I want to do the show yet or not..like I want to but I also think I can live without but its on my sisters must do list..i'm just afraid that we wont have time to see it or be able to find a spot to see it without waiting a lifetime. Also were passing on ToT..when did it 2years ago we thought all the chocolate candies tasted gross so I dont want to waste all the time we spend doing that again. We might do a stop or 2 if we have time towards the end of the night..we shall see. Also we decided to pass on the castle show and fireworks just since the castle show is the same as normal park days right now and the fireworks arent a big deal for us...but still not sure if we'll have time to do all on our list.

We attended the party this past sunday, the 27th. This was the third year in a row for us at sold out parties and I thought it was much more crowded. It was hard to move anywhere, and definitely felt more crowded than it was during the day. And I agree with others, it totally felt less "festive" this year.

It poured for about an hour, causing the first show to be cancelled and a lot of the character meets to be delayed. We waited in the Pooh line for over an hour and no one showed. I'm still upset about this, because no one bothered to come tell us (and the rest of the people in the huge line) that they weren't coming out. No horseman for either parade, although I try not to be upset about that because I know the rider, not Disney, makes that call for his and the horse's safety.

The CMs seemed clueless. I heard one tell someone the party was cancelled due to rain. Another said the fireworks were at 9:30. It took us three tries to find one who could tell us where to get party bands inside the park, and one even told us we needed the hard tickets, that scanning our MBs wouldn't work. This one also argued I needed a ticket for my two-year-old. Gheez.

The crowds on the Hub and Main Street were insane. I was cussed at twice and physically pushed out of the way at one point. I barely saw any of the Hocus Pocus show because I was constantly being jostled around. Crowds were lined up for both parades early, even in Frontierland.

We did find the candy lines moved pretty quickly, and our kiddos were given large handfuls.

I think this is the last party for us, at least for a few years. I really don't think it's worth the money anymore - disney keeps upping the price and reducing the experience, and I'm not paying for that anymore.

I keep reading reports and the negative ones outweigh the positive ones. Josh at EasyWDW also said that he can't recommend the parties anymore. This will be our first one, and I've already purchased tickets, so we are going. And it will be sold out (seems that is the case this year anyway, but it has sold out the day-of during the prior two years). We're still looking forward to going, but it makes me sad that the party just doesn't seem as good as previous years: more people, less villains, no villain dance party, no princes, etc.

I'm so glad my first party left a good impression. Even though it rained, Mine Train broke down 2 times causing me to waste a FP+, I spent the most of the night standing in long lines, and getting 11 pieces of candy, I had a good time. Maybe it was the first timer pixie dust but I felt like I did what I wanted to do. Here's what I did in chronological order:

- Elsa & Anna (saw Elsa first in the room)
- Belle, got photo and a bookmark, woo hoo!
- Tiana & Naveen
- Sorcerer cards, both normal and Halloween ones
- Rain stopped, pictures in front of castle (the rain started when I was on the bus)
- 7 Dwarfs (2 hours of standing the entire time but glad it stopped raining)
- Donald, Daisy, Minnie - I was lucky to get all 3. Minnie returned from her break about 3 people in front of me
- Winnie the Pooh and friends
- Lotso
- Mickey
- Aurora, no wait so I paid her a visit. They really should have better lighting at her spot
- Aladdin magic carpet, no wait
- Second parade @11:15
- Splash Mountain, no wait
- Hocus Pocus show @ 12

I could have easily squeezed Jafar in there but it was dark, he was wearing black clothes and I felt like getting a Dole Whip!

For those that have been to the parties already.....I thought I saw photos somewhere along the way of rice krispie Mickey Heads that were decorated to look like mummies. Has anyone seen them at MNSSHP, and if so, where did you find them? Any idea of cost?

FP Question

Buzz Lighthear Spin or Hanuted Mansion?
Which is busier during party that I should use my last FP

Some people like doing Haunted Mansion during the party, but if you don't care I'd FP that. The wait time was at least 25 minutes after we walked by. We got in line for Buzz at 7:00 (they checked for wristbands) and we waited less than 10 minutes.

I'm needing help! What time should I get in line for J/S? I've seen where people have lined up as soon as they entered. We have FP to meet Tinkerbell @ 3:20-4:20 and ride PP @4:20 to 5:20, will we be able to do both before getting in line for J/S? Should I ditch the FP's? We are dressing up as the Peter Pan characters and DD really wants to do both. I'm also worried the later it gets anything near Main Street is going to be chaos. What to do? I'm stressing myself out over this.

Also I've read where people were able to get into the first party at 3:45, was this just a one time occurrence?

Be at the park early so you'll be one of the first to enter around 4pm (or 5-10min earlier if you're lucky). After entering, use both of your FP+ immediately (meaning, don't wait to ride PP at 5:20) and you should be good for Jack and Sally.

Creative, cheap, easy, AND comfortable!

Yes, at Splash Mountain exit or trick and treat trail. I couldn’t tell the exact location but I saw it after getting off the ride. Look for a photographer with a tripod and a pile of suitcases. They do 2 shots at the same location, 1 hitchhiking and 1 where you’re frightened by the 3 ghosts.

Thank you! I assumed they were near the HM. I would have never thought to look by Splash!

Thank you!!! That makes me feel better. I plan on being at the gates by 3:45 pacing to get in haha.

I remember people saying that, in past years' parties, people would get lots of candy, even handfuls of it later into the night. Now I read about people getting three, maybe eleven pieces? Are they being more stingy or are the people I'm reading from just not big trick-or-treaters?

Have wait times for Anna & Elsa been shorter during the parties as compared to during a regular park day?

I'm confused why some people say they are ending up with only a few pieces of candy and others say the CMs hand it out by the handfulls?
