Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

@Ariel484 - can't hurt, right?

I had a couple of "early" appointments today (and, by early, I mean like 9 a.m.) - so I decided to take a little midday siesta. The husband woke me up and was all "Why are you taking a nap?". I told him I've got to run two races next weekend so I need to start conserving my energy.

I don't think he bought it. :(

I don't know how I'm going to resist that Dooney bag. I bought two bags at D23: the WDW tote and the DL crossbody. I told myslef that meant no race Dooney .... maybe I can talk DBF into a wristlet for finishing my first half marathon. LOL. He got me a charm when I PR'd the 10k at Star Wars. LOL.

I think I'm setting my alarm for 3:30 each day & plan to head out close to 4:30. I usually eat breakfast a few hours before running so this will be close to that.

ME TOO!!! :teeth:

Ran 6 miles on Saturday and then 8 miles today and I think I'm going to call that good enough until next weekend, apart from a couple of 5k-ish maintenance runs at the gym and various cross training every day until I leave next week.

I'm just really afraid of getting hurt at this point. From falling on July 4, to nearly getting hit by a car and falling off my bike two weeks ago (I'm fine - just scraped my elbow up and got a nice little butt-bruise), I want to keep myself in as much of a bubble before this race as I can ... which is probably not the best idea, but, well, I guess that's just what I have to do right now.

Honestly, I think I really need to start "sleep training" at this point. This night owl is going to super-struggle with a couple of early wake ups precluded and followed by long days. What time is everyone planning on setting wake-up calls for during race weekend? 4 a.m.?

@Keels... Sounds like you are just about ready. I can send you some protective bubble wrap if you need it.
What happened with near-miss car incident....please share with the class. (I thought I was bad for running into mailboxes).
Don't worry about wake up calls...just don't go to bed.

Downey dreams up in smoke! Our washing machine flooded apartment below. Just don't need this now.

Oh No! Hope the damage and aggravation aren't too bad. Too much water in the wrong place= never a good thing!

I hadn't run in 2 days and when I tried yesterday I felt like I couldn't keep up. Even walking at 4.5 mph was a challenge while before I had no problems. I feel like if I don't keep running all these days then I will be slow during the race. Anyone else feel like that? It is as if I need to be warmed up - I'm hoping my last long run of 12 miles on Saturday is doable...almost feeling out of shape. I want to run that at about 7.0 mph on treadmill...wish me luck

I still run daily (except Sundays) and will all the way up to when I leave next Friday. Saturday my plan is 8...then next week 2-4 each day for tapering, none on Friday. Too many days off in a row and I feel sluggish getting back at it, so yes I guess I like to be warmed up before the races too!

yeah, that's exactly how I feel...I will do the same pretty much. I was kind of worried and initially thought I had the incline set to high because I literally was about to fall off the back. I ended up still running about 7 miles in that hour but that start was getting me worried. Maybe because I took 2 days off - it seems like my limit is to only take 1 day off at most between runs.

I used to feel the same way and would get very pent up if I couldn't get out for a run. Funny how some days everything feels easy and others it feels like you have "concrete legs." Now due to injury and not getting any younger, I figured out my body appreciates powering down about 10 days before an event. Just a light maintenance run here and there and I feel rested and ready on race day.

I have been injured since early July, it's safe to say I am definitely rested....not sure about the "ready" part.

Nice to see a few things. I'm not particularly fond of the color schemes this year, too dark for me, I think. But that's OK. Less temptation to buy lots of things. I'll just get my pins and get out :) Still plan on getting to the Expo at the crack of dawn. Actually, this time next week I'll be close to being done with the Expo completely!

Yay! Finally!! Loving the Dumbo I did it! I love all of the little extras that I'm sure aren't posted like coffee cups and sweaty bands.
