Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

The smoke from the fires in Washington is atrocious! No outdoor runs for me in the near future. Apparently on an air quality scale of 1 (good) to 10 (very bad), the air quality rating is 19 right now!!! Thank goodness for treadmills and taper week (if i can make it to taper week!)

Thanks @Ariel484 ! I'm no good at posting pictures. Now I'm really torn on if I want this one or the D23 bag. Decisions, decisions. Maybe I can get this one now and the D23 will still be available when I go to Wine and Dine in November...

Cute purses. I'll have to admire someone else's though. I have a self-imposed $25 purse maximum spend.

From what I have read on Facebook the D23 is harder to get at Disneyland than at WDW. At WDW it seems to come and go from the stores.

After seeing better pictures I definitely still like the Dooney. I pre-ordered the cross body bag though, and it looks like getting one with good placement (where the pattern is lined up) may be tough. I don't like the one they are showing in the picture - Mickey is covered by the Dooney logo and there's no full Sleeping Beauty castle visible on the front.

Yes, this is important. :teeth:

Bah! I wish they did wallets and I would totally be in. I just don't know that I'd use any of these styles as much as I already have my go-to bags in these shapes and sizes.

Also, my husband will kill me if I buy another purse.

Is anyone else a little disappointed with the Disneyland Half offerings from RawThreads? I was hoping to find something cute to wear on the plane, but most of the stuff is Dumbo-specific or something I would never wear again (like the Race You To The Castle) top.

I mean, I ordered the Run California hoodie and the cloud Dumbo shirt because they were cute and I had a gift card, but I kinda wish there were more options. They have a ton of Star Wars stuff already out.

The cloud stuff is cute but I went on a RawThreads binge last year and am sort of over them at this point. I feel like they haven't been putting out a lot of good stuff lately.

Which is fine, it's not like I won't find other things to spend my money on. :teeth:

Also, a Dooney is a purse. :teeth: I would know!

And if you're anything like me, you know a little better than you wish you did sometimes. My Disney Dooney collection is bigger than I remember sometimesand yet I still want more.

I'm not all that fond of this years design, which I suppose is better off in the long run. It will be easier to talk myself out of buying it with money that should be put elsewhere. Now, the 60th bag ... that's another story and I am hoping to get it for my birthday only a few days after the race. :)

They will have a few bags for you to look at and pick the placement you want, so fingers crossed one will be just right!

Not going to lie, sometimes the placement is what calls you to the bag in the first place. I probably never would have gotten the Disneyana design if I hadn't walked right past the PERFECT placement for me. I was a goner at that point.

Ummm no comment.

See, I went into it thinking I'd get the 60th bag but over time I have liked that one less and less. I think the race bags sum up the race AND the 60th, which is why I like they. I also like that they have all of the distances on them. :)

Yes, I know they had 4-5 for me to pick from in January - I hope I find a good one!

Ugghhhh...I had a Disneyana bag (the braided satchel) and I kid you now, I carried that dumb thing for 2 weeks and the corners began to chip. :( I ended up selling it on eBay for a big loss, didn't want to bother trying to get Dooney to replace it.

Oddly enough, I have a Disneyana wallet that I've used a lot and it still looks perfect. :confused3

This is the same reason I like the race bag too. It was ultimately the reason why I bought the WDW Marathon pattern. I kept waiting for them to put out more until I found the perfect placement for me on that one. I guess I'll decide at the expo if I want one or not.

Darn Ariel wasn't thinking of a Dooney but I do like that cross body! Trying to resist! Wish I could just buy it at the expo rather than pre order. Love the little Dumbo!
Ran 12 km this morning with my girlfriend who is training for the Vancouver R&R at the end of October. Ran more than I wanted but she has been there for me throughout all my DDD training. Good run no problems happy with my effort, felt great mentally. My calf is still sore, still very bruised from massage therapist over 2 weeks now. Pavement running more comfortable, on the dyke gravel path felt every step. Oh well my husband said suck it up buttercup , I know if he is running with a hernia!
8 SLEEPS AWAY!
Bought my Honey Strings, ELoad ! Started to think about things, shoes pulled out with my socks , gathering up things putting them in a pile at the side of my bed.
Every morning and night looking at my shoes there, love my Sayonara's they have not been out since Tinkerbell!

Ran 6 miles on Saturday and then 8 miles today and I think I'm going to call that good enough until next weekend, apart from a couple of 5k-ish maintenance runs at the gym and various cross training every day until I leave next week.

I'm just really afraid of getting hurt at this point. From falling on July 4, to nearly getting hit by a car and falling off my bike two weeks ago (I'm fine - just scraped my elbow up and got a nice little butt-bruise), I want to keep myself in as much of a bubble before this race as I can ... which is probably not the best idea, but, well, I guess that's just what I have to do right now.

Honestly, I think I really need to start "sleep training" at this point. This night owl is going to super-struggle with a couple of early wake ups precluded and followed by long days. What time is everyone planning on setting wake-up calls for during race weekend? 4 a.m.?

I'm sure this has been asked/answered before, but how do I double-check that I've pre-ordered pins? I'm pretty sure I did when I registered, but can't find any confirmations etc. If I didn't, I'll have to make sure I get to the expo really early so I don't miss out!

That is cutting it close. I'm scheduled to go out Thursday, but worst case scenario Wednesday I'll drive to Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, or Chicago and get a flight from there. And I just noticed how weird it is that all those cities start with the same letter. Hopefully this storm will blow itself out or just terrorize Florida.

I love how you guys have half a dozen airports to choose from in the US! My next closest airport other than Melbourne (where I could actually fly anywhere useful from) would probably be Adelaide... at about 10 hours drive away. I used to live in Perth, which I've heard is the most isolated capital city in the world. From there, it would have been about a 3 day drive to the nearest airport in Adelaide lol!

Yikes! I would be avoiding going outside as much as possible!

I'm with you - I want a Dooney wallet! I just can't justify the prices for a handbag, but I do need a good wallet.

Raw Threads have Disneyland half merchandise? I have to go check that out!

There are non-runners in the Dooney Facebook groups complaining that the race distances are part of the print...

...

...really? :confused3 It's the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend print!! :rolleyes2

I feel the same Keels! I'm so terrified I'm going to take a wrong step in one of my training runs in the next week and injure myself  Plus, there are so many sick people at work right now, I feel like I should just stay home until it's time to leave lol! Fingers crossed I get through the next 2 days without picking up anything nasty.

I am neither a night owl or a morning person lol! My training program has been getting me more used to early mornings, getting up at 5am on weekdays, but with jetlag and time difference, I doubt it will make a difference on the day. I plan to set my alarm for 3:30am - it'll take me 10 minutes to get out of bed lol!, half an hour to get ready, and 10 minutes to walk to the corrals. Hoping to be there when they open so we can get right to the front (for the half at least, since my corral will have such a massive range of POTs).

Ugh. I'm a SAHW, so unless my husband gets sick in the next couple of days, I won't have to worry about picking up a bug. But I've been traveling a TON (pretty much every other weekend - or recently, every weekend). So, I think I'm going to start loading up on the vitamin C and Emergen-C just to fend off anything that could take me down.

Also, the husband leaves for ANOTHER work trip to Santa Monica at the start of the week, which means I also have to pack up and bring his race weekend things with me in my carry-on. That's an added stressor - he's THE. WORST. traveller.

Awesome thanks! Great news - I have both the 5k and half marathon commemorative pins :cheer2:

My DH and I are travelling together, but I'll probably still have to pack his race things for him lol! He tends to forget things...
