Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

YES! I haven't been able to pull up my waiver yet, but I'm so glad they put that disclaimer there about selfie sticks. You'd think it's a total "DUH" thing, but they had to make it an official thing for a reason. I remember when it was officially announced they wouldn't be allowed in the Parks. It was like "...Finally!"

Yeah, Selfie Sticks get a big thumbs-down from me. Really, less the sticks themselves, because I can see the appeal of them, but more the "look at me!" culture surrounding them and the fact that they decrease self-awareness as people walk around with them (which is my biggest pet peeve at Disney parks - people walking around not paying attention to their surroundings and running into others or whatnot).

Yep, that's a SeaSwirl! If I run tomorrow it'll be HFBluPlaid. :) Waiting for Namaste to get posted next, and I have a Let'sPolka (Dot) with my name on it too...

Ok, so I gotta ask....how did you get SeaSwirl? I saw on FB that they may have it for September.

Last year for the 10k I carried my sunnies in my running belt. They were a bit annoying, but I was glad to have them when the sun came up. I definitely won't be attempting the half without them!

You must have a magical running belt. There's no way I could jam sunglasses in mine! (FuelBelt brand)

There was a big (500 people) group order through a SparkleSkirts Facebook group that had been in the works for months and was ready to order a couple of weeks ago...that's how SparkleSkirts found the fabric. :)

Man, I want to buy a SparkleSkirt, and I'm on ALL the FB groups, even for customs ... but I'm just not comfortable with patterns. Weird, I know.

I almost bought Snow Peacock and then it was gone in my size.

Still thinking about the Grotto skirt maybe for Princess, but also, I'm a little flustered about what size and style is what and what might be best for me.

I'll be Orlando starting in October, so I think I'll go to "Sparkle Mecca" and shop there so I can try things on and see what works best for me.

I'm so high maintenance. But I still really wanted a Snow Peacock. I'm dumb. :(
Just so you know........

Sigh. In Vancouver right now, it has beautiful weather and great scenery and yet I had to run on the darned treadmill at the hotel rather than outside. Mostly because came back too late to hotel and hence too late to walk to the park and start the run before it got dark. On the upside I did run 10 miles at pretty good pace and felt super - much better than my Saturday run - carbs are very important.
Are you in Vancouver BC ? That is where I'm from check out the sea wall at Stanley Park. Beautiful run there has been some sightings of our killer whale in Burrard inlet.

Just order a skirt a couple of days ago . Seeing you all have given good reviews decided to give them a try. It was shipped today looking forward to receiving it. The peacock looks really nice but I stuck with plain old black. Don't know how is will look on a old lady! That age appropriate thing brain is young! Lol!
Good choice! The first skirt I ever got (3-4 years ago) was a plain black one. I still have it. :)

I bet it'll look fab!

Costume update!!

World of Color is almost done! I just have to finish the headband I'm doing with the black confetti knit, attached the underlayer of the skirt in the same black glitter fabric and cut the hems to match.

Pretty happy with this one!

I am, and I'm not...staying in Burnaby so that park is closest, but walked around Stanley today.

Reading all the posts has me excited for this trip. It will be my second time to California and my second time to DL. My frsit trip was 5 years ago and only for the race weekend. This time I get to fly in a couple days earlier and spend some time in the parks. I plan on doing the meetup at the 10th Anniversary Party and probably the Tiki Room meetup. I havent been able to properly train the way I wanted to these past couple of months but hope to be okay. I plan on doing the Dumbo Double Dare and earn my Coast to Coast (I did the WDW Half in Jan.). I hope to be around to cheer on the 5K runners because its always great to see people cheering me on along the course. Best of luck to everyone on a fun & safe runs.

@Keels - You're gonna look adorable! I hope I see you out there running, lol.

It's starting to dawn on me that it's going to be an exhausting weekend for me. Since my registration was so late and I'm taking the week off after the half for my birthday I'll pretty much be working straight though the half. Probably the day before, running, and then back to work that night. Jeepers. Here's to hoping I can actually walk when I'm on vacation in Texas.

I have a SPIbelt. It expands to fit heaps in there!

Wow Keels that looks fantastic!

Finally got outside to run in Vancouver, BC - eh, you Hosers!!! I was able to do a 10k loop around Burnaby lake in about 52 minutes - which is not great, but considering it was a trail run with lots of up/down hills (ouch), I consider myself lucky. Weather was not too bad - about 85, but had lots of shade so didn't feel like it. One funny thing ... about half way through that run, while I'm completely lost as I keep encountering multiple road splits (how I made it around the lake correctly is beyond me because I could never see the lake through the trees), I encountered these little signs that warned me of "Bears in the Area"...well, geez could you have told me that before I started and not half way through when I'm already tired and even though my mind is yelling "run faster you idiot, there be bears here", my legs are laughing at me knowing that they would likely be eaten last.

btw, was it wrong for me to pass a family with 2 kids along the trail and be thinking: "hmm, the bears would likely target them first, I can make it to safety"...nah, that's just survival of the fittest. :)

I used to board my horse at Burnaby Lake, yes bears in the area but watch out for cougars. They are a problem if in the area. Beautiful treed area .

what?!?!?! Cougars? You mean cat like creatures not older women, right? :)

Ok, that will be my last run through that area...I value all of my parts and don't want to be anyone's snack/
