Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Now - why can't RunDisney post the DLH plans so we can get a peek at theming?? I'm dying over here!!

Now - why can't RunDisney post the DLH plans so we can get a peek at theming?? I'm dying over here!!

I was procrastinating like crazy yesterday and during that time I read through last year's DLH Weekend thread...

- The theme for the 5K and 10K was revealed on April 14 via the Galloway plans being posted on runDisney.com...the race weekend was also 1 week earlier so I'm hoping we'll see the Galloway plans tomorrow or next week.
- The medals weren't posted until June 13... I am really hoping they'll be out at next month's Tink expo!
- Courses and event guide released on July 8
- Waiver link found and posted here (but not officially posted by runDisney.com) on July 22...officially posted on runDisney.com on July 24
- Corrals posted on July 28
- The Downtown Disney Starbucks was open on Friday @ 5:00AM and on Saturday/Sunday @ 4:00AM (VERY IMPORTANT INFO!! )
- Merchandise sneak peek was posted on August 25 (VERY VERY IMPORTANT INFO GOODBYE MONEY! )
- Race shirts were revealed on August 26

And last year the 5K was on 8/29, the 10K was on 8/30 and the half marathon was on 8/31. So like I said above, about a week earlier than this year.

And we wait...

Ahhhhh.... the waiting part kills me. So much anticipation! It also gives me something to look forward too though, so I'm okay with that.

@mbwhitti I know! I hope those late July dates don't hold up for this year, since I'll be on a cruise that week and won't have internet access...I'll miss all the fun! (I mean...besides the DCL fun I'll be having )

Ugh, I hope not. All the special Frozen stuff will be out of the parks (other than M&Gs) by then, so I'm holding out hope.

I'd love it to be retro - like Steamboat Willie or something like that.

Honestly, I'm more annoyed by the Frozen hate and bashing than I am by Frozen itself. I still like Frozen a lot (though I don't think it's as good as, say, Tangled, but I digress...)

Having said that, I DO hope that none of the races are Frozen-themed. With it being the 10th anniversary of the half and the 60th anniversary of Disneyland Resort, I'll be VERY disappointed if they don't do some sort of retro/classic theming for the races...or at LEAST for the half. A diamond-shaped medal might be cool since it's the diamond anniversary of DLR...

@Keels I would squeal with glee if Steamboat Willie was on one of the medals!! It would be embarrassing but I wouldn't care!!

I really don't think they'll theme any of the Disneyland races to Frozen since that was just the theme for Princess Half weekend (it fit there, in my opinion).

I was way late to the Frozen party; finally watched it earlier this year Have yet to watch Tangled and Princess & the Frog. (I know ... I know .. someone is going to revoke my Disboards membership card for that! haha)

Whewf! (Although I wouldn't mind it as a race theme, I'd much prefer classic Disney! I'm still beating myself up for not knowing about rD when the theme was Alice in Wonderland in 2013 )

I have one, MAYBE two more chances for a better PoT. My last 10K was untimed (lame!) and this one upcoming is the exact 6-mile route I train on. Right now, I'm just hoping for F or G. I'm kind of putting priority on a better corral for W&D, just because I don't want to waste primo Food & Wine time!!

I also have 2 more chances - a 10-miler next weekend and a 10K on May 17 (I think). The one next weekend won't be pretty...just getting out of my running funk and tweaked my knee, so I'll just be happy to finish the 10-miler. I'll focus more on the 10K starting next week.

My last 10K is on May 30th - it's certified on a flat out-and-back course that I'm familiar with. So, that will be my last chance for a decent time. Talk about cutting it close.

I'm just sticking with my 10k time from last year's DL race. It will work for me.

Looks like good weather so far(no jinx) for us for Flying Pirate. Hope you have a good race.

I'd like that! For the 5th, the 5k medallion was the Fab 5 on a pentagon medallion so something like that would be cool. I'm also wondering if they go all out and tie in the park anniversary too, that would be an awesome medal w/ little diamond jewels like on the PHM medal.

I'm hoping for a good time on my 1/2 on 5/31 for POT. There's a big downhill towards the end for almost a mile so while I don't know if I can PR, it'll be good enough to move me up a few corrals.

Tried to get a faster POT in my last 2 halves. Although they were faster for me, not fast enough to improve corral placement. I'm sticking with my 10K PR from Feb 2014 since it's still good to use.

New to the board. But did anybody just get an email from rundisney on buying commemorative items? If you look at the banner, it shows runners with the castle in the background and labeled planning tip #3. However, on the ledge are two hyenas looking on. these hyenas, of course, are from the lion king. Is this banner standard or does this mean the theme for this year is the lion king?
