Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Just realized I posted congrats to Keels on the Wine and Dine board, lol. I can't keep up..

It's a few years old, but here's my report from the 2010 race.

Perfect, thank you! :)
Some questions:

1. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to submitting my current best proof of time for Dumbo, and then possibly updating it in about a month when I run my next race? I'm mostly wondering if anyone has had trouble with their better times not submitting correctly.

2. If I submit one time now, and have a better time to submit later, do I still use the online form or do I need to contact Track Shack directly?
When you submit your proof, it'll update in real time with what your projected finish time is, so you'll know if it didn't go through. And you have to do it by June 2, so I think the online form is the way to go.

3. Based on the corral assignments from 2014, it seems like there is a huge gap between corral G (<2:30 half) and corral H (<3:13 half). My current best half time is 3:05. I'm hoping to knock a few minutes off to make it a sub-3:00 half, but there's no way I'm getting below 2:30. Does anyone know if these projected pace times are accurate from last year? Just wondering if it's even worth it to try to get a proof of time down to 2:58, or if it's just a waste of my money on another (somewhat boring) local race.
I think you may as well try. I think last year's numbers are fine for getting an idea of where you'll be, but thosr are based on the times submitted from last year's runners. It could change this year.
I finished a half marathon today. I may sleep with my medal.

... if I can ever stop crying about the whole accomplishment thing.
CONGRATS!!!!!!
Way to go Keels. Knew you would do it. Now you need to post a pic of you and your medal.
....btw....there's no crying in running, we experienced runners just get something in our eyes right around the finish line, but it's definitely not crying. :rolleyes1
That's never happened to me...never at all... ;)

Way to go!! Quite an accomplishment. Go ahead and cry.... you deserve it. I have been known to start crying even before I start the race.

Woo-hoo Keels!!! That's such a great feeling!!! Show us the bling!!!

You're in good company! I sobbed like a baby when I finished the marathon this year! ;)

Thanks again to all of y'all! It was a pretty emotional, exciting, draining, difficult and rewarding experience - and definitely the most trying thing I've ever done in my life! BUT, now I KNOW I can do it. I know I can do anything if I set my mind and my heart on it, so - for just knowing that now, it's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

I'll actually have my three race recaps up on my training journal link at some point tonight (I've FINALLY finished binge watching "The Jinx" and "House of Cards", so now I have some free time! Ha!).

But first - BLING!!

I ran this half with my sweet husband (also his first), three of my best girlfriends and one of my close guy friends. They were all so awesome - even after they finished, they came back around to run the last quarter mile with me. My husband may have even teared up a little when I crossed the finish line.

Did I meet my goal time? No way. Missed it by about 6 minutes. But whatever, that's fine. I think during this run, I finally realized what running is all about. It's not about how many people you finish ahead of, or the time you finish in. It's about finishing - no one can run YOUR race except YOU. This time last year, I could barely finish a Kids 5K. This year? I'm a half marathon finisher. And it's just the first of many ... but probably not another one until September. ;)

It's awesome that you've got such a great support network Keels. I've had to do most of my 10k runs on my own, but at least I'll have my parents and husband there with me for my first half like they were for my first 10k :goodvibes

I think you've hit the nail on the head too. It doesn't matter how you run (slow, fast, with/without walk breaks etc) - it's such a great achievement just to finish!

Keels! I am a little delayed, but I want to join everyone else in congratulating you on your fantastic accomplishment :) I look forward to reading your race recaps.
(I also can't wait to join you in the ranks of half marathon finishers next January.)

Hey everyone! Can i join in? DH and I are registered for the Disneyland half marathon. This will be my 3rd, his 2nd half. We're aiming for just under 2 hours finish time.

Glad that you are here!

Thanks, @pamster and @almacdonald!

I think I've come down from the high of finishing it, combined with getting registered for W&D yesterday, so I'm a little sad.

Maybe I will start planning my "costumes" to cheer me up!

I am familiar with the post-race blues too!

I'm having the "I waited too long to book a hotel now the pickings are slim" blues, right now.

Still haven't found the right hotel or airfare. We will have a rental car so does anyone know how hard or easy it might be to drive in and park for the 10k and half? Where do you park and is there a fee?

Really wanted to stay close enough to walk.

I think Acclaim still has Tropicana, Paradise Pier and Grand Californian left ... don't know if that's what you're looking for, but at least it's a start!

Our flight is booked. We found a flight into SNA for $400/person (from Canada) and that's a pretty good price so we jumped on it. We're booked at Del Sol but I had really hoped for Best Western. I keep checking, hoping that someone has multiple bookings and will cancel.

Thanks Keels and almacdonald. We are staying off-site and my better half is leaning towards Embassy Suites, Peacock Suites, or Desert Palms. The Sheraton Park looks decent too.
But some of these are at least a mile away.....:charac2:
meaning we may have to take a shuttle bus,
drive to the park, or walk a long way
