Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

What can you guys tell me about finding out if a race can be used for Proof of Time? Besides other Disney races. How do you find out if it's a certified course or not?

Also, I thought I had read something a while back about the timing that Disney uses being slower than other races or something like that? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Or am I crazy. :)

For most races, if you look at their course page or FAQs page it'll say if it's a certified course. If it is, you're good to go! And if it doesn't mention it, you can always email them to ask them. I think most are now though.

As for the slower, I thought I read an article a month or 2 ago about the slower times for rD races, but for the challenge races like DDD or Dopey, but not single races. I thought it said that they anticipate you going a little slower b/c you'll be conservative on the early races and a little more tired on the latter. Don't know whether or not that's true though.

I've read similar articles where it discusses Disney race times for the participants as being slower overall....not the timing (if I understand you correctly). That makes sense to me.

Part of the reason is the encouragement for your not-so-typical runners to participate (not all races are as accommodating and supportive of walkers).

The other reason is - let's face it - runners in the Boston Marathon aren't losing a minute or so waiting in line to get their picture taken with a guy dressed up in a cartoon character costume!

...I don't follow. ???

;)

I'm slowly getting back into it...I'm up to 4 days a week going about 12-13 miles. Just not really enthused about it right now!! :rotfl: Mostly because of the weather, I think...I hope.

I'm just the opposite. My motivation is going down as the weather gets warmer. I know that May 31 is coming fast, but it's so uncomfortable training when it hits 75-80 in the morning.

Here's my situation...warming up a bit at least.

I meant that at the Boston Marathon it would *have* to be a guy in a costume....because only at Disney are they are the actual characters in real life.

(Nailed it!)
*applause* :rotfl:

I was looking at the commemorative items for purchase and saw a jacket - has anyone ever got one of these before? Just wondering what it might look like? If anyone could post a pic of past ones that would be great.

Not sure what they have had in the past for Disneyland, but this is the jacket from this year's Marathon Weekend. My one friend that ordered it was disappointed (just a big glittery shoe?? Where are the characters??) and ended up selling it online. Her experience made me decide I wouldn't want to order one that I couldn't see first.

yes it would be great if they had some images before you purchased them. Thanks for the pic though.

Hi my family and I are doing the DDD. We are flying into LAX. Just wondering What people think is the best way to get from LAX to Disneyland Paradise pier hotel?
Thanks

So I guess you'd be happy with this, huh? :) Don't get me wrong, the days are gorgeous. I just don't like running long when it's in the 70s.

If you aren't planning on renting a car, I would recommend using one of the shuttle services to and from the airport. "Prime Time Shuttle" and "Super Shuttle" both have decent rates. Our experience is the Shuttle has always been waiting for us and usually taken our family directly to the hotel no waiting for anyone else. But on the way back to the airport they often pick you up a few hours before your flight (a little too early for my taste) and they often pick up another group that you ride with to the airport. Overall a good experience for what it is.

"Prime Time Shuttle" and "Super Shuttle" the reviews for both of these are terrible from LAX to Disneyland. Any other thoughts?

I used Super Shuttle last year from SNA and I have no complaints. Easy to find at the airport, got me to the hotel, and picked me up on time for my departure. It did have multiple stops for my arrival day but fortunately I was the first one.

Now that we have registration out of the way I'm starting to look forward to the race itself. Regardless of the theme I think it will be interesting to see how runDisney handles the amount of characters on the 10K course. Last year I know some runners were a little upset at the lack of actually Disney characters on the 10K course, but there were like 5 Elvis impersonators... But that just isn't the same as classic Disney characters.

From the Avengers 5K and the Star Wars 10K it looks like runDisney was back to loading the course with more characters. (Although a few characters for the Star Wars 10K were nameless Jedi, but I think that is more reasonable then random Elvis impersonators.) We'll have to see if this trend continues in May with the Tinker Bell 10K.

Used Disneyland Express from SNA 8 years ago & will do the same this trip. It was nice & don't have any complaints.
